Thin-and-light: The eMachines eMD620-5133 is a thin-and-light laptop, under six pounds and built to travel. This model has premium features including an efficient processor, DVD SuperMulti drive and built-in wifi.

Powerful processing: The 1.6GHz AMD Athlon 2650e single-core processor provides fast, efficient power. The 64-bit architecture allows you to run all of your 32-bit programs and still be prepared for the latest 64-bit software.

Features
This desktop features 2GB of DDR2 system memory—enough to handle everyday computing needs. DDR2 is slightly faster than DDR, the previous standard in system memory.

AMD employs HyperTransport technology, which works like a fully-integrated frontside bus that increases bandwidth, reduces bottlenecks and enables processors to work more efficiently. The end result is better performance.

Processors search for the same data over and over. L2 caches keep this data neat, organized, and nearby so it can be retrieved more quickly. This 512KB L2 cache gives the processor a little boost.

4 of 5 first laptop... Wednesday, July 15, 2009
fred from Dayton, OH

I've used this laptop for around 1 month. Due to being used to the XP OS...I had a some issues with Vista...and with getting in a hurry. Other than this...I've had no real problems with it...other than what seems to be an overheating issue with a hot component smell 2Xs. I'd recommend making the backup discs right after you start it up...and shutting the Security Center OFF at least until you have your programs loaded, etc. I use my own freeware security progs and ran XP for 2 yrs before I started up Windows Firewall...still doing fine after 4 years. Decent speeds for the 1.6 processor...wifi works fine. Not a gaming machine though. Sound is marginal unless you use earbuds.

5 of 5 Awesome Computer & Deal Tuesday, June 23, 2009
Robin from Columbus Oh
Great computer !! I was looking for something I could surf and play Cd/DVD's and is wireless!! I only paid $298 brand new on sale! Seriously considering purchasing another for my teen for her birthday. It's great for all ages! This is the 3rd emachines product I have purchased and haven't had any problems with any of them to date. I keep them cleaned up and don't download everything out there. Get a good spamware program and you'll go far with this or any computer!

5 of 5 Great little laptop Wednesday, May 20, 2009
Teresa from Waterloo, IA
I really like this machine. Great value and easy setup. I took the free shipping route and even though it said it could take 14 business days, I got it in less than a week. My brother liked my laptop so well, he had me order one for him too.

5 of 5 You Can't Beat This Monday, April 27, 2009
Jeff from San Jose, CA
I was a bit skeptical at first but this notebook has performed very well thus far. Delivered within two days after ordered and up and running within 10 minutes after unpacking. It is a no frills notebook but if you are loading your own software and are more of just an internet surfer you will be VERY happy. I have taken it on a few trips without any issue. Perfect size/weight for travel. Fast boot up and shut down, strong WIFI. I am a very satisfied user.

5 of 5 Great laptop for the price Wednesday, April 22, 2009
Tim from Spokane, Washington
I bought this for my 13 year old daughter's birthday and it's great! She's very happy with it and it's performance. For the price you can't go wrong for a basic laptop. My only very small pain was it took about an hour to update the software. Wish it was shipped with the updates. Other than that it works as promised. Great product for the price.

5 of 5 Great Buy For The Money Monday, April 13, 2009
A Customer from Los Angeles, CA
Wanted a windows notebook to augment our array of Macs. Looked at netbooks, then saw this advertised -- 14 inch screen, full size keyboard. Didn't need all the bells and whistles of more expensive machines. Burns DL DVDs, decent speed processor. I really like this machine. It's the best deal I've seen for the buck in a long while! I've shown several friends and they can't believe I got this notebook for so little. Great Buy!

5 of 5 Lightweight, compact, great for travel Monday, April 13, 2009
Brigitte Barlos from Taos, NM
Although I am used to a 26" screen that I use in combo with my PC, I find this machine very easy to work with. Despite its compact size, the screen reads well and the keyboard is well laid out. I do not use the integrated pointer, as I have a wireless mouse to use with it. The wireless on it was easy to set up and I was ready to work in just a few minutes. Have taken it on its first trip and had to carry it around a lot. That's when it really shines, because it weighs about half as much as my previous laptop.

5 of 5 great machine Saturday, April 04, 2009
Stuart from Chicago
Straight A's. A+ for value. I've used it daily for six weeks, now, and the only drawback I've found is trivial. I wish it had a manual volume control so when I boot up in the library it doesn't startle everyone. Advice to everyone: whatever computer you buy, get maximum RAM. It makes all the difference.

4 of 5 Overall satisfied. Wednesday, April 01, 2009
Jack from Houston, TX
Bought it for wife. She likes it. I like it also. Only gripe I have is that I normally put my laptop into hibernation when not in use. I would set it to hibernate when I push the power button. Somehow this laptop will sometimes do it and sometimes won't. I'm still trying to figure out what's wrong. Other than that, it's a decent laptop for the price.

5 of 5 Great at this price point! Monday, March 30, 2009
A Customer from Flushing, NY
I got this as a gift for my wife. It worked perfectly right out of the box. I did upgrade the memory to 4GB of Ram and set-up took maybe about 45 minutes. I would like to buy another one, this time to keep in the bedroom, you know sometimes, your watching TV in bed and think about checking a e-mail or some web-site. But you are too lazy to go downstairs...that sort of thing. Why not get a Netbook instead? Because they dont have CD/DVD Drives! This computer comes with a Super DVD multi-disc drive that works great!

5 of 5 Very Satisfied Sunday, March 29, 2009
Chad from Salt Lake City, UT
I love this computer, very portable and easy to carry around. I had a 17" laptop that I sold because it was too big to use as a laptop. I was debating on getting a netbook, but for the price of this one, it's worth it to go for the full laptop. I mostly just use this for checking email and browsing the web, but it seems to work great for this.

5 of 5 excellent Tuesday, March 24, 2009
Tony from Sycamore, Ga
For the laptop, the second of which I have owned, to be a little smaller than the last runs circles around the other. Not sure of the speed of my last laptop, but this is a lot faster and without any doubt a much larger hard drive. For the money cannot beat it.

5 of 5 excellent little laptop! Wednesday, March 18, 2009
ssg charles piercy from afghanistan
for less than 350$ an excellent little machine! currently deployed to afghanistan with the us army and my 1000$ plus dell lost it's harddrive...since i use a computer for email and small programs only i originally thought of one of the micro machines, but this product was an excellent alternative! fast internet surfing, plenty of programs for individual use and a real nice dvd drive that with a micro i was going to have to buy an external one anyway!!! it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but i don't need those anyway...as 99 out of 100 people wouldn't!

5 of 5 Surprisingly Awesome Monday, March 16, 2009
Happy Customer from Hartford, CT
I needed a cheap laptop for school and this fit the bill. First off, the screen is AMAZING! A lot of the lower-end laptops at brick-and-mortar stores have a washed-out screen that isn't very bright, but this looks better than my last Apple Macbook (the white plastic one). Second, Windows XP drivers are available on eMachine's website, so if you want to downgrade (I did...Vista, bleh!) you can do it. Third, this machine is highly expandable...you can upgrade the RAM to 4 gigs, the hard drive to whatever you want (I got a speedy 7200rpm), and online forums are saying you can even upgrade the processor because it's not socketed - a dual-core 2.6ghz Athlon is under $70 online! It does run cool & quiet. I like having the headphone jack on the front instead of the side. There is no webcam, so you will need a USB model if you want to use that feature. The speakers are weird because they are facing down on the front lip of the laptop, so they are not very loud at all. The keyboard feels cheap, I know a lot of people say that about other laptops but this one just feels cheap, it makes spring noises sometimes and just feels cheap to push. But for under $400 what do you expect? Overall this is an incredible deal for the price. The screen is amazing the laptop is highly upgradable.

5 of 5 Superb machine for the money! Wednesday, March 04, 2009
Scott from Moberly, Missouri
Was a little leary of the price. You know, the old addage "you get what you pay for"? Well, you can throw that addage away with this machine. Compact, quiet, smooth keys and loads quickly (even with Vista!). It came with 2 gb RAM memory, which was adequate, but I bumped it up to 3 gig and it's now a whiz bang. Will do anything you want to do as long as you aren't into serious gaming. Perfect buy for me to take to work, or for child's first laptop. Well worth the money. Only negative so far is the DVD tray is a little flimsy, but I don't use it that much so not a problem.

5 of 5 Well Pleased Monday, March 02, 2009
Cliff from Weldon Spring, Missouri
I purchased this E machine for my wife who is a sewing enthusiast. It has all she needs to keep up with her embroidery and quilting programs, download pictures, emailing and surf the web. She is pleased with the performance, the weight and the size. A great price for a great product. Could have used more USB ports. Ordered it on Friday and received it the following Monday.

5 of 5 For the Price - Better Than Anything Else You'll G Saturday, February 28, 2009
Mutt from San Antonio, TX
I purchased this laptop to take with me when I deploy soon. For the price - you cannot beat it. Now, the processor is 64-bit, BUT the Windows Vista that is supplied is only 32-bit so you can't enjoy all of the benefits. I put 4GB of RAM in before I even powered the unit up, so I have a little more memory than is standard, but it runs Office 2007 just fine and most of my games. To be sure, if you play heavy duty games, then this is not the laptop for you. The video card will not support games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or other high demand games. It will, however, play games such as Syberia and other non-graphic intensice games without any hassle. The Wirless LAN is reliable. I get good range, good connection speeds and very few, if any, droppped connections. Some of the software included is only good for 60 minutes (demos), so with only 160GB HDD included, you may want to get rid of them to free up some space. Other than that, the unit plays DVD's well, and the display is beautifully crisp and clear. This is a very good laptop and again, for the price, you really cannot beat it. I am very happy.

this is a great laptop for the price and easy to use for a novice like myself. i have had a little trouble getting adjusted to using the keyboard on the laptop versus a desktop. i've made many errors but after a month of use i have grown accustomed to the difference between the two. i would recommend it for value and easy of use.

5 of 5 Nice little laptop Tuesday, February 24, 2009
Grandma Nat from Eau Claire, WI
A really nice little laptop for the great price. However, it comes loaded with lots of unwanted games and other trial offers. After un-installing all this junk and the Norton we had a nice little clean machine which got much faster up after the "cleaning". The screen is large and clear, the keyboard buttons a nice size. The order was filled immediately and it arrived in two days, We are very pleased!

I bought this as a gift for my husband and he has been using it since the day he got it. It's a nice, inexpensive, basic laptop, great for basic computing needs. Very good value for the money. I would recommend this for anyone needing a good basic laptop. The screen is excellent and it runs quickly. It shipped and arrived very quickly.

5 of 5 Good economy computer Wednesday, February 18, 2009
Don from Torrance, CA
I was very pleasantly surprised with this Acer E-machine computer. Everything has worked well so far and the Vista Home Basic is just fine -- not sure what the premium version provides. The processor chip is not dual core so that may be an issue later and I did have to download service pack 1 and make my own recovery disks (great set of instructions from emachines included). The computer weighs 5.3 lbs on my digital scale and it is attractive and has a neat combo dvd-cd reader writer. One gripe: only 2 USB connections.

5 of 5 Great buy!! Monday, February 09, 2009
Gadget Man from Jacksonville, FL
This laptop has all the basic features, it boots up fast and shuts down in 13 seconds ( my wife's expensive laptop takes 8 minutes to boot and to shut down). This is perfect for surfing the net, I installed MS office 2007 and it runs great, this runs quiet and cooler than any laptop I've seen. So many people buy way to much computer, this does everything most people would need and at a very low price.I found out it is made by Acer and they are one of the largest PC manufactures in the world. I've had it 4 months now and it hasn't missed a beat. I highly recommend this laptop. This is my 4th laptop and my favorite, the 14.1" screen is perfect not to big and not to small. For the money it can't be beat!

5 of 5 Great Laptop! Thursday, February 05, 2009
Jim from Fort Worth, TX
I recently purchased this laptop and was completely blown away. The LCD screen is amazing. The contoured keyboard is wrist saving. I never thought I could install Photoshop on it, but I did and it runs wonderfully. My girlfriend has a $1900 Macbook Pro and before I bought this $400 computer she jokingly said "I bet its GREAT!" ... well after I opened it up and showed her she said blankly (no longer joking) "the screen looks great." I cannot recommend this laptop enough!!!

5 of 5 Great 1st Laptop Saturday, January 17, 2009
Janice V from Lancaster, CA
We purchased this laptop for our son, who is a young teen, for Christmas (at a much better price elsewhere) I am pleased with the product. Perfect for school work and to find 'cheats' for his gaming. Basic Vista is easier than we thought(XP familiar). Would I pay over $400.00 for this laptop.....No. Shop around. All in all, nice 1st laptop. Runs quiet. We have owned emachine computers for years. Very reliable. This laptop has the basic features. Consider this when deciding a purchase.

5 of 5 Good Laptop for the price. Tuesday, January 13, 2009
A Customer from Michigan
This is a great basic laptop. We purchased for our mother-in-law. She had an old desktop with dialup. Now she can open the pictures we send her and surf the net with ease. Great ergonomic keyboard! After our purchase, we did find similar computers at Best Buy and Circuit City a little cheaper at $399.
