4 of 5 Great watch but BIG! Monday, August 03, 2009 A Customer from Philadelphia, PA
performance and specs are terrific, but if you have small wrists (like me), just be forewarned that the body is big (40mm(w) x 50mm(l) x 10mm(thick))...not a functional problem, just aesthetic Was this review helpful?

RTFM.
We just got back from Belize and the Blue Hole.
It worked GREAT as my backup, allowing me to use it to update my dive log (Max Depth, Bottom Time, min Water Temp), while I left my dive computer/reg and BCD with the dive shop.
I never had to press any of its buttons under water, though I am sure that some of them got pressed inadvertently as I moved around - it still works.
I got into the habit of parking my gauge/computer under the right side of my BCD, while using quick glances at the watch to check my depth and dive time (to know when the dive master was going to call us to go up to the safety stop). It was wonderful convenience that left both of my hands free, without fear of destroying the coral if my dive computer swung down, etc. I also think that diving hands-free must be safer.
It also beeps if you are going up too fast - it can be aggravating at first, but it absolutely taught me good (safe) habit of coming up slower. As such, I'd consider it an absolute MUST HAVE safety equipment for a new diver, not yet used to perfect control of their buoyancy.
Every diver who saw it wanted one as soon as they heard the price and functionality. Why ruin an otherwise perfect dive when you can use this and your dive charts (by the book)?
My wife loved it as well.
Lastly, I wore it for 2 weeks solid while I was awake (and the prior week at the office) - you get used to it (and it helps build up your arm ;-) Was this review helpful?

This is a nice product. It's very easy to use and has lots of features. The only drawback is that it's quite heavy. The weight and large size will stop me from using it as a regular watch. But, it does everything that my partner's regulator-console computer does. So, it will be useful as a dive computer. The bezel is useless since it's a digital watch. Was this review helpful?

I bought this watch for my brother who is a CIA op and a Pro Diver. He loves it and can't stop talking about how cool it is. Great value and product. Was this review helpful?

On Buy.com, this watch was cheaper to buy for diving than my Citizen's dive watch is to put in a new battery and have it resealed for diving, so it was a no brainer for me. It didn't arrive with a manual, but that is easily available and downloadable from Egana USA. One BIG warning, buried in the manual, is that you cannot touch any of the buttons once under water or it will leak, so pay attention and be careful!!! Mine arrived unopened and in perfect condition, so no problems there. Was this review helpful?

Great price for a basic dive computer. Great backup.
Big enough to hurt someone if they got hit by this (as you'd expect)
No Manual!!!! For a watch this complex...!!!
The band is not that long, so if you have a large list or plan to wear it on top of a very thick (5 mil?) wet suit.... I don't know. It is long enough for me (I am not a body builder)
On the plus side, the band ends in athick section that gives you an interference fit on the other side of the rubber bridge, so that it will stay on your wrist securely and will not come-off.
And yes, the band does have a yellow stripe.
I don't see anywhere stated that this is a refurbished product, so what gives Buy.com? Where is the manual and why the stuck button?
Beautiful box, but looked like it had been previously openned.
The Lap/Reset Button was stuck (tolerances were off, I guess) so I had to RMA it - but because it was "damaged and open", Buy.com does not allow me to return it for credit and then order a new one (which they suggest themselves) - then they say that if they found it damaged, they'll return it to me! Well, we'll see....
Stragely enough, while one button was so tough I could not press it in, the rest were easilly pressed (too easilly?) The nice thing was that they beeped if you pressed them (I am sure that'd get old). It was enough to just set it down on its side (OK, OK - it is really heavy, so....)
I'd buy it again and recommend it to any diver.
Despite these "purchasing" issues, the watch itself is a perfect 5 across the board.
I'd buy it as Mother's day present for my Mom, if she dove....
It is a gift that says I care for your safety ;-) Was this review helpful?
