5 of 5 Perfect for intended use Sunday, November 15, 2009

Is this a full blown computer, no. If you want that, you can buy a dual core 15.6" laptop for about the same money that will outperform this, no question. BUT, do you need that? I have a lot of waiting time at remote locations and can log into my office. I didn't want a 6 lb laptop with a 2-3 hour battery. I wanted a very small window into my office, and that's what this is and more. (I also bought the tetherberry program, I plug my Netbook into my Blackberry and have high speed internet anywhere I have a cell signal). It is small, reasonably powerful, the battery is great (although not 10 hrs), and the keyboard is the best of any netbook I have seen. It feels solid and the screen is bright. Someone in my office has one of the original ASUS netbook (7") and it is still going strong.
This Netbook is fantastic. I waited for Windows 7, it runs smoothly and quickly. Will this replace my desktop, no. But, it was never intended to. What a terrific package. I love it. Was this review helpful?

Read multiple reviews and settled on the 1005HA PU17 as a mid-to-upper level netbook for personal use. My primary use for this netbook is e-mailing, internet surfing, spreadsheets, and word processing. I have been extremely impressed with the machine thus far. Very compact and lightweight and feels soooo much lighter in my messenger bag than my Dell 15" laptop.
Initial impressions: great bright screen, tremendous battery life (I get darn near the 10.5 hr max), the best touch pad I've ever used (the thing is textured which really helps), very natural-feeling keyboard, 1 GB of memory is more than enough for the uses that I described (nothing hangs or has trouble loading), Windows 7 starter is also more than sufficient for basic use.
Asus has been doing this netbook thing for a while. I have been very impressed with this product. Was this review helpful?
