He wielded great power as New York's most popular remixer and house DJ for his club, the Sound Factory, where crowds of hipsters thronged and took their record-buying cues from his playlist. His studio work attracted high-profile artists including Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Justin Timberlake, and scores of others; having a track remixed by Vasquez is still considered a commercial boon. Though the Sound Factory has long been closed, Vasquez continued to produce, remix, and spin into the new millennium.
