5 of 5 A great humidifier at a great price. Sunday, February 15, 2009 Tonyia from Austin, TX
I really like this humidifier. Other than the odd gurgle, it is pretty much silent. It does go through the water overnight if it's on high the whole time, but it's in a big room, so that's probably why. I kept waking up with a bloody, stuffy nose and very dry lips and skin and using this humidifier has solved those problems. It was a great value too. Was this review helpful?

Humidifiers are a necessity where I live, in Arizona. I have tried many ranging in price up to $100 or more and they all do their job. I prefer the warm air types which basically generate steam and emit moisture into the air, through menthol crystals if desired. I prefer no menthol. They all have one thing in common, their heating elements. It seems they only last about a year before they develop a short circuit and will no longer function. This is caused by a build-up of calcification on the element and causes oveheating of the element beyond its design limit. Even using mineral free water does not prevent this build-up. Many humidifiers use the identical heater. So, to shorten this lengthy tale, most humidifiers must be replaced after about a year of use. Cost is therefore an important consideration. The Duracraft unit, also sold under the Honeywell name is priced well below most others and performs exceptionally well. I have bought them for as low as $20. My most recent purchase was about $30, shipping included, and I buy several each time since I use two at a time, one in the family room and one in the bedroom. They conveniently hold about a gallon of water and that lasts about 8 hrs on high and twice that on the low setting. This product is a sleeper that should not be passed up. Other units do not pose any advantage. Was this review helpful?
