1 of 5 Don't buy this! Tuesday, April 01, 2008 llDayo from Lebanon, PA
The songs are in midi format which makes them annoying. The whammy bar is stationary and all it does is make the current note go higher. The fret buttons have to be pushed hard to work which makes your hand sore after 3 minutes of play time. There's a free play mode that is just horrible. I couldn't even get Mary Had A Little Lamb to sound right. This item is a ripoff! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So cool - a jr. versionof guitar hero! Sunday, January 06, 2008 KW from Philadelphia, PA
I bought this for my 6 year old daughter and she loves it. Her older siblings got Guitar Hero and I wanted something similar for her but not quite as hard as the older kids have so I thought this would be the perfect fit and it is. She enjoys it but the one thing is when they miss 3 notes, they "Fail" but I encourage her to try again and the game certainly will encourage them to keep practicing. It's cute. The songs aren't the real versions as they are on Guitar Hero but I definitely think it's age appropriate and does the job that it advertises. Worth the buy. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 I was Hooked Saturday, December 29, 2007 d. ramirez from san diego, ca.
Bought this as a gift for a 7 yr. old. but couldn't resist "testing" out the game first, to make sure it worked of course. I was surprised at how hard it was at first, but kept coming back for more and sure enough my improved skills impressed my guests who would fail miserably. I reluctantly wrapped it without breaking it after two weeks of play. If your older (40) like me, the songs were very familiar. My friends and I had a blast using it for karaoke. The music is midi sounding without vocals but that didn't stop me from having fun. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great substitute Saturday, December 29, 2007 A Gamer from Satellite Beach, Florida
Great substitute for Guitar Hero. I bought this because we don't have a game system and our 17 year old twin daughters play guitar hero at friends. I thought for the price, if it lasted Christmas Day it would be worth it. It is still going strong and our 22 year old son is having a blast with it as well! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great Alternative to G H III Thursday, December 27, 2007 John from Kings Park, NY
Picked this up for my 10 year old daughter and she loves it. Her cousin brought over his Guitar Hero and this did essentially many of the same things. Also allows free play and playing an MP3 source through the guitar.
We don't own a video game console and don't plan to. This is a great alternative. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very Entertaining Thursday, December 27, 2007 S. Carter from Columbus, Ohio
This was purchased for a younger member of the family but his older sister and mother also got into taking turns trying to play the songs. The game was challenging but both children and their mother were both able to show significant improvement in their playing skills with less than an hour of practice. This was definitely the "hit" toy for the day and it was both fun to try to play the game and to watch others improving their skills while they played. The game worked as advertised. The music is digitized and it only produces standard definition output on the TV but neither detracted from the enjoyment of playing the game. It does require four "AA" batteries that are not included. You need to have a TV with RCA style jacks for the audio and (composite) video inputs. One of the other reviewers mentioned that the guitar is on the smaller side which is accurate but again didn't hinder anyone from a nine year old child to a considerably older adult from playing the game. 4 of 5 If you can't afford "Guitar Hero" (TM) Friday, December 21, 2007 Drucifer from Hendersonville, NC
This is an excellent substitute of the legendary "Guitar Hero" (TM) series for the price. The songs are digitized so you don't quite get the authentic "play along" feel, but again for the price I don't think you can beat it. Comes Complete with a strap and a cable to hook up your IPod or MP3 Player! I've purchased quite a few of these "plug-n-play" games, and this is by far the best I've played. The guitar is a bit undersized for an adult, but even on the easy level it would be next to impossible for anyone under 10 to complete the first few levels. I say BUY IT, especially if you don't have a gaming consle or the money for the real "Guitar Hero" game!!! Was this review helpful?
