5 of 5 Does exactly what it's suppose to do Thursday, June 21, 2007 Sarbin Hinder from New York, NY
I have owned this product for approx. 4 months now and I was surprised to see the last review of only 2 stars. If you are looking for an all around great headset you shouldn't expect it in a bundled product. I think this is a great starter package for anyone who wants to get into speech recognition. I work in a lab in a hospital and I spend much of my time walking. It's not wasted time anymore. I am truly amazed at how many emails or reminders I can get through in a walk from one lab to another. Only problem I have encountered is sometimes the background noise is too much for the software to decifer through.
I read that Dragon is Bluetooth enabled as well - I am looking for a new headset that I can use for this now.
It was a little difficult to get used to using as remembering what you have to do, emails you want to write is so much a part of everyday.
The software is only going to get better too. I gave the package a 4 because the hardware that comes with it is not the highest quality but for this price - I don't think you can go wrong. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Even out of the box it's pretty good! Monday, May 28, 2007 A Customer from Charlotte, North Carolina
I was pleasantly surprised. When I tried out Dragon NaturallySpeaking first time, it was pretty accurate even with little training. As I got more used to using the program it became more accurate. The training process is rather interesting in itself. If you realize that the program has made a mistake. You can ask it to correct the mistake. The correction process offers you a band you of several choices. In none of those is correct, you have the option of spelling the choice, then training the pronunciation. The digital recorder that comes with the package makes a nice addition. My only complaint is that the headset is very uncomfortable. For now I am using it by holding it in my hand. All in all, not that practical, a wireless mic would probably work better. Was this review helpful?

This version of the top-rated Dragon Naturally Speaking Software from Nuance packages the preferred version 9 software with both a basic Headset/Microphone (by HS-GEN) and a Philips Digital VoiceTracer 7630 handheld recorder. Unfortunately, the included Philips recorder will NOT work with the included external headset plugged in as packaged by Nuance. After ordering and returning the complete set from Buy.com 3 times and finding the exact same problem with each package, we determined that there is a solution -- buy a cheap stereo-to-mono microphone jack adapter from Radio Shack (cat #274-368) and the problem is corrected. The problem is caused because the mono mike jack in the Philips 7630 is not universal -- it will not accept the stereo jack from the supplied headset and make the connection as it should. This is a Philips problem because of the defective jack but also a Nuance problem because they packaged the 3 items together without verifying their compatibility. I would recommend to others to buy all 3 components separately and not the Preferred Mobile Edition package. I am sure we will be very happy with the software once we have it fully trained but so far this has been a difficult experience with over two months waiting to get to use the product involved along the way.
