| | Professional Reviews | Kikizo 9 of 10 Grinding, grinding, grinding and grinding - this is a Disgaea game, no doubt, and if you're a fan of the series then there's no point in reading this review...So, yeah - get back to the game. Let the uneducated/non-obsessives read on from here...Now those imaginary people have gone, I can address you readers with a question: do you have hundreds of hours to spare? Would you rather put this time to use addressing problems in the local community, donating to charity and leading a healthy lifestyle, or would you use this time ranking up your brawler character to level 999 and beyond?...If you're going for the second option then you're probably a despicable human being - but on the plus side Disgaea 3 is the game for you...The game itself is exactly what you'd expect if you've so much as looked at a Disgaea title before - strategy battles of the utmost complexity, fought out on embarrassingly low-rent backgrounds with graphics that look bloody good (on a SNES) and with some steep difficulty spikes that require muchos muchos grinding before they can be overcome...Yes, it can take over your life if you let it. The hours can rack up into triple-figures if you're so inclined to allow them to. Characters can become obscenely powerful and of ridiculously high levels if you put the time into them...Those that want to actually do more than scratch the surface, however, are more than provided for with this infinite chasm of grinding, levelling, equipping, item-worlding and story-skipping. It may well be one of the most overwhelmingly complex series of recent times - if not all time - but Disgaea 3 provides for the casual and the hardcore with great aplomb, and neither side is let down by it...It's Disgaea again and it's bloody wonderful again. As complex as you let it be, as overwhelming as it wants to be and as great as it always has been. Two thumbs up. - Ian Dransfield
