Album Notes and Credits

Notes & Personnel Info
Daft Punk: Thomas Bangalter, Guy-Manuel De Homem Christo.
Additional personnel includes: Todd Edwards, Romananthony.
"Short Circuit" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance. "One More Time" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.
In 1997, this French electro-dance duo made a huge intercontinental splash with its debut album, HOMEWORK, mixing disco, house, funk, techno, and more. While Daft Punk's second recording still focuses on the maximum accessibility that earned its debut such high marks, there's less of an obvious focus on pop hooks. Irony and house beats are the order of the day, and an eclectic thread runs throughout DISCOVERY.
"Digital Love" sounds like the theme to a '70s sitcom as realized by the Buggles. "Nightvision" is a mellow, wordless, Quiet Storm-meets-Eno soundscape, while in an interpolation sure to gain plenty of attention, "Superheroes" marries a Barry Manilow sample to an unrelenting house beat. Ultimately, DISCOVERY is less of a mission statement than its predecessor, but no less danceable or listenable.

Producer: Daft Punk

Artist Overview
French 1990s neo-disco duo Daft Punk found stardom as a discovery of the Chemical Brothers. With an egalitarian approach to making people move, Daft Punk utilized everything from strict club beats to Beach Boys and Roxy Music samples when making its infectious dance music. The duo garnered a sizable fan base thanks to a down-to-earth ethic and a fun futuristic aesthetic that accompanied their mix of techno funk and old-school beats.

4 of 5 Pretty good Wednesday, November 13, 2002
Adam from Virginia

This is a very good album. It contains a variety of techno, rave, digital, and funk. Also, there a quite a few hard guitar riffs. Besides that, the first four music videos are incredible. They are done in an anime style and fit the music perfectly. Hopefully a DVD will be released of all the videos of the album. Aside from the praise here, there are a few nagging things. If you aren't a big fan of techno than this may make you go farther away. It is very repetitive, like any techno music, and very digital. A lot of digital voice is used as singing. If you do like funk music or techno, or both, this is a great grab.
