| | | You have never seen anything like this. Features: Collector's Edition, Box Set, DVD Join the action-packed adventure of a group of dinosaurs overcoming enormous challenges through courage, loyalty and hope in Disney’s Dinosaur, a special effects phenomenon!
Set 65 million years ago, Dinosaur tells the compelling story of an iguanodon named Aladar, who is separated from his own kind and raised by a clan of lemurs, including the wisecracking Zini and the compassionate Plio. When a devastating meteor shower plunges their world into chaos, Aladar and his family follow a herd of dinosaurs heading for the safety of the “nesting grounds.” Along the way, Aladar befriends Baylene, the dignified, elderly brachiosaur with a take-no-prisoners attitude; Eema, the unstoppable styrachosaur; and Neera, a feisty fellow iguanodon. Together, they must stand strong amidst food and water shortages, the threat of attacks by carnotaurs, and Aladar’s run-ins with the herd’s stubborn leader, Kron. As the trip becomes one pulse-quickening adventure after another, it also forges friendships that no hardship can destroy.
A landmark in filmmaking technology, Disney’s Dinosaur is a breathtaking spectacle filled with adventure, fun and life lessons that the whole family will love! "An exciting visual feast and total treat for kids and adults alike." David Sheehan, CBS-TV
 Editor's Note
With DINOSAUR, Disney breaks a new stride in the technological revolution of computer animation: combining computer-animated characters with digitally enhanced live-action landscapes. The effect is literally unbelievable and the clarity, realness, and definition of the pictures easily make the once surprising effects of virtual reality seem like the dark ages. A dinosaur egg is stolen from its nest and passed along by various birds, animals and other predators each hoping to eat it. Fumbled into a community of kind and nurturing lemurs, it cracks open and Aladar, a baby dinosaur emerges. He lives happily and peacefully among the lemurs, who raise him into adolescence. However, when a natural disaster occurs, wiping out the beautiful rainforest that was their home, teenage Aladar joins a dinosaur pilgrimmage--and discovers his true ancestry--in order to bring his lemur family to safety. Far sweeter and much more realistic than recent dinosaur movies like JURASSIC PARK or even classics like THE LAND BEFORE TIME, these new digital dinosaurs are surprisingly human with emotional eyes and expressive voices that make the magic nearly tangible.

5 of 5 to assuage fears of christian parents Saturday, January 25, 2003 A Viewer from nj
I have no great love for Disney so I was really shocked to find I enjoyed this film and found very few problems with it as a parent and a christian beleive it or not. In many ways this movie recalls of tales of Moses. The introductory scene was the egg being carried through a desert, a jungle, a river and then delivered into the hands of the adoptive primate family by a pterodactyl. When desperately seeking water one of the dinosaurs strikes the ground and Aladar, the hero, discovers water seeping up through the hardened soil, reminiscent of moses striking the rock. The main thrust of the movie is the journey through the desert into the promise land of "the nesting ground" They told a story without delving too much into scientific theory and indoctrination. Though they did say things in the context of "millions of years" this film is so rich with faith inspiring material. It is beautifully crafted, a modern wonder of historic proportions! I think every kid would be thoroughly enthralled at the wonder of seeing dinosaurs brought to life in this manner. what a totally awesome film Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Amazing Technical Feat, Standard Disney Quality Saturday, January 19, 2002 A Viewer from Milwaukee, WI
Granted, the movie is Disney, so there will no be surprises as far as plot and character depth go, but Disney nonetheless succeeds in impressing the viewer with DINOSAUR. The story is what we've come to expect from Disney, and the really impressive feat is the CGI; the cinematography and images of DINOSAUR are simply amazing: you find yourself asking, 'How'd they do that?'
