This means you will be able continue to use your old TV after the US government mandate in 2009 or capture digital signals on your new TV with this digital to analog converter.
This model is one of two within the Digtial Steam DSP line. The DSP 7700t is the upgraded model, offering many of the standard features that you would expect to see on most DTV converters while also including Analog pass through.
If you are looking for a more basic receive that does not include Analog pass-through then the Digitial Stream DSP7500t will fit your needs perfectly.
In layman’s terms, the Analog Pass-Through receiver will allow you to still receive all of your current analog signals while also allowing you to receive all of the newer digital signals. Currently as of May 2008, 94% of all analog broadcast television stations also broad cast in digital. So to receive the 6% of the stations which have not converted over to digital you will need a receiver with Analog Pass-Through.
