5 of 5 Pacific Digital 8x10 Monday, January 08, 2007 Jon Witt from Los Angeles, CA
Overall, great product based on the resolution of 800x600 and the screen brightness. As a tech guy, the setup was fairly simple, however for the non-technical end user that received this as a gift, may have some difficulty in the 3-button menu system. Another minor annoyance is the internal memory limitation, however using the external USB port seems to be limited only to the size of the media. Also be aware that you can't have background music in a slideshow. Music files can be assigned to individual pics only, so basically, the sound file duration, dictates the slide duration, if its longer. This stereo sound capability is probably best utilized for narration. Definitely resize your images to the 600 width for portrait or 800 for landscape, or else you may take a performance hit(slow loading pics).
Despite, the negatives I've mentioned, this made a very cool gift for Ma and Grandma. (I preconfigured an internal slide show, and attached a 2Gb flash drive with 800 images. I can't wait to put it on a wireless DSL circuit so I can upload to it remotely.

The product features reasonable resolution and pictures look good, but the onboard memory is too small. Plan on buying your own USB thumb drive and running the slideshow from there if you want to have more than a few pictures. My frame 'crashes' once a day, but restarts easily after reboot.
The Buy.com package did NOT include the optional wood frame but it was easy to find an attractive, inexpensive after market frame. Was this review helpful?

This 8x10 digital photo frame has great resolution, internal memory and stereo speakers. I like the ability to use any frame (so does the wife). Although Pacific Digital claims it will connect to a camera, I connected it to my PC with no problems using USB. Copied the photos over, configured the slideshow and that was it. Easy to use, pictures look good (use a 2MB camera or better). Pricey at $500, but cost should come down and then it's a bargain. Was this review helpful?
