3.3 of 5 Fun & kwerky 4/14/2009
digitaljon144 from Lansdale, PA
My idea was simple - capture notes I take on legal paper.
The receiver must sit on the top or an edge of the notepad, not near it, not behind it. If it's placed behind your writing surface, nuthin. - - -
Once you figure out this, it's kinda fun. .. . .
I think maybe a clip of some sort would do the trick, like maybe a low-tension document binder clip, or even a chip clip. Without the receiver staying in place, the whole shebang is useless. Once the receiver slips, your writing appears elsewhere on your virtual paper.
....... . . .about that virtual paper, VERY cool that it pops into play as soon as you start writing.
Forget about using this as a mouse, despite it's mouse button. Well, unless you're willing to find that perfect setting that does not zip around your screen. > > > >
Overall, I still have it in my laptop bag and will give the digital pen a few more chances at grabbing my doodles. But Generally, they look more like Dimitri Martin drawings than Software Engineering flowcharts...

4.3 of 5 Decent input tool 11/29/2008
Don from Brasher Falls, NY
Once you get this device installed and affixed to paper (which is a little inconvenient, but not a terrible pain), it's a good way to digitize your writing. There are some minor inconveniences - the limits to its detection are discovered on the fly, but once you know the range, staying within that space is quite simple. I also have an io2 pen, which requires special paper, so this is more versatile, except that I'm tethered to my computer.

5 of 5 Excellent 8/13/2008
Sethirayar from Jersey City, NJ
This item was really excellent, unlike other digital pens you don't need a special writing pad. Everything you write on any paper is captured in the computer screen without even leaving a dot. This product is extremely useful students and teachers.

5 of 5 A True Handwriting Expert 9/26/2007
Commodore Billy from North Fort Myers, FL
I purchased this item strictly out of curiosity. For the price, I expected an amusing toy. When it arrived, I set it up according to the directions and put it to the test. In handwriting mode, it managed to recognize about 98% of what I wrote. This is truly amazing as many PEOPLE have a hard time reading my handwriting. In hand printing mode, it never skipped a beat. My only concern would be the future availability of the special ball point cartridges (they are quite small, and if I used it a lot, I can see them running out of ink quickly).
