4 of 5 Good for kids Monday, May 26, 2008 A Customer from Orange County, CA
I have two small boys who feel it's there duty to be in control of things, especially the DVD's. All except the "grown ups" DVD's are scratched one way or another so that is why I bought the DVD Dr. so I could be able to save their DVD's from the trash. It works good enough but if you have a really good scratch, it might take a few tries to have it be readable again. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works great on DVDs Saturday, May 17, 2008 Adam from Aliso Viejo, CA
I use Netflix. Since the DVDs are sent in the mail, and just with people using them, they get scratched. I think most movie rental stores check to see if your DVDs are scratched... but maybe not.
I had the old hand crank model of this device for about 5 years ... probably resurfaced 200 disks with it. When the sandpaper wheel wore out I decided to get an electric model rather than just a new wheel.
The unit is loud, sounds like a vacuum. It seems to be working better than my hand crank model, but maybe thats just because my old sandpaper wheel was wearing out. I have put about 20 disks through it so far, it is doing a great job of taking out the scratches.
The only problem I have had: I resurfaced a HD-DVD (the first one I resurfaced ever)it was scratched and made the disk freeze in the middle. After resurfacing, my HD-DVD player would not recognize the disk. Maybe this is due to the smaller data pattern on the disk. Maybe the middle information becomes unreadable (this is where it seems there is a heavy scratch pattern from the resurfacer. I have never had it make a DVD, CD, PS2 game, or software disk worse, only the HD-DVD. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great for all my DVD's Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Mission Viejo, CA
I love this item! It has repaired most of my kids DVD's that were scratched and skipping. Some had to be repaired more than 3 times, but I have a 4 yr old who doesn't understand why DVD's shouldn't be played like hockey pucks and it still fixed those.
Great investment! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Product Friday, March 30, 2007 Kersha from Miami, FL
This was the best thing I could have ever bought. It works great. I thought me and my fiance would never play my video games again. This thing saved our past time. It is very easy to use and the price for it was great. Other places have items like this for $40 and $50, and they are so hi-tech that you would never figure out how to use it. Now I don't have to throw away anymore of my old CDS, DVDs, and games. Saved me a lot of money on replacements. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works Great Friday, March 30, 2007 Kersha from Miami, FL
This was a great buy. I never thought my games and CDs would work again. But they work like brand new now. It's very simple and easy to use. I wish I had this a long time ago (before I threw out all my old and scratched CDs). It will save me a lot of money on buying over different CDs, DVDs, and games. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Okay Saturday, March 10, 2007 A Customer from Stamford, Connecticut
The Skip Dr works....okay. It does leave scratches behind, but it makes it possible for the disc to be used. The commercial and product summary makes it seem like it will make the disc look brand new with zero scratches, but its not even close to what really happens...
I also ordered second day shipping, and the product didnt come in for about 5 business days Was this review helpful?
