3 of 5 Surprise! Friday, November 13, 2009 Alan LaRue from Baytown, TX
Yes, it is described as a "compact, mini tripod", but I was still surprised by how small it is. I purchased it to mount an older digital camera for use as a webcam, and the tripod is actually just right for that application.
The legs are 7" long when fully extended. You cannot spread the legs part way, as there is no friction device to hold them. They must be fully spread apart. The camera sits only about 5.5" from the surface.
The tilting mechanism locks and works fine. It has specific detentes, so you cannot exactly tilt it to any angle, but it has plenty of detentes. You can also tighten the rotating mechanism, so it's easy to fix the camera into position.
It's not very sturdy, really, but it would probably be fine to carry on vacation and use when you want to set your camera up quickly for a steady shot, and it works fine on the desk the way I'm using it. Was this review helpful?
