5 of 5 It does what it do Sunday, March 02, 2008
Lee from Tobyhanna, PA

I was actually trying to set-up a Crossfire configuration, but was unable to get it to work. Once I removed the second video card, it worked flawlessly. My lack of knowledge is probably the cause for it not working. Before you ask, yes the board was crossfire enabled. What I had problems with was loading Catalyst on the computer. For some reason, it rejected it. Overall, I am happy with the video card. Easy to use.

5 of 5 Great product! Wednesday, February 20, 2008
A Customer from Houston, TX
I am completely happy with my purchase. Dual DVI, 512MB RAM.., for $35 after MIR, you could not beat that Buy.com offer. It worked right out of the box, when I installed it my Dell Dimension E520 with 300W power supply (Dell PSU's are believed to be underated though). I was amazed with the improvement of picture sharpness after I switched my Dell 207 LCD monitor from onboard video adapter with analog VGA D-sub connection to this video card DVI output (earlier I've been told that there should not be noticable difference in picture quality between analog and DVI connections, so now I found out for sure that in my case it is certainly not true).

1 of 5 DONT'T BUY THIS CARD Tuesday, February 19, 2008
Tj from Chicago IL
Pros - easy to install. Great price. Performance is ATI what more could you ask. Cons - The Diamond brand isn't supported by ATI. In fact they aren't even listed on ATI's support site. This card uses software enabled Crossfire, but I only got it to work in Vista, not in XP or XP x64. Diamond has yet to answer my email and I have emailed them 3 times. The ATI original car and Sapphires version are more expensive but they are worth it. If you plan to use this card as a single option then its well worth it. Dual? Consider other option first before you buy this brand.

4 of 5 Great Card - Bad Software Saturday, February 16, 2008
A Customer from Michigan
I bought this card to install in a new build: Gigabyte P35-DS4, Intel Quad Q6600 SLACR, PCP&C Silencer 610, 2GB G.SKILL PC6400, and Windows XP Home. For the price (I bought it when it was on sale for $34 with a $20 rebate) I'm quite impressed with this card. It runs my HP f1905e 19" flat panel beautifully. Dual DVIs, very quiet, no overheating issues, an excellent value. The only problem I had was when I installed the driver CD that came with the card. This corrupted my computer and I had to reinstall the OS. If you get this card DO NOT install the CD. Go the ATI site directly and download what you need.

2 of 5 Cheat on the Specs and bad support Friday, February 15, 2008
chenzhenqi from Auburn, AL
This card is easy to install and working fine with some old 3d game. On the specifications here and in Diamondmm.com, this card is advertised with 600MHz GPU clock and 800MHz memory speed (400MHz x 2 for DDR2). However, I am very surprised to find that ATI Catalyst control panel hardware information show that it is actually working on 500MHz GPU clock and 540MHz memory (yes just 540MHz! not 1400MHz for normal x1650 pro, not the advertised 800MHz). The lower clock and memory speed greatly reduce the 3D performance. I talked with Diamond tech support online. The representative responded my question very slow, gave me no useful information and just tried to give me some nonsense excuse. I gave him information and asked my question. He just answered shortly after maybe every my 10 sentences input. After I denied several excuses he give me, he finally found one. He said that this 500/540 is just for normal use and it would adjust to 600/800 when I use heavy 3D application. I don't think it makes sense, but I will give it a try with 3DMark06. You can guess the result. 3DMark06 gave the same number as 500/540 after its test. Diamond used to be a top brand name in my mind. But after this I just feel it is no longer a good brand but a very cheap one.

3 of 5 Great Video card for the money Wednesday, February 13, 2008
A Customer from Lakewood CO
I think this is a great value. I did have to go to the manaufacturers website to get a Vista driver. NO PROBLEMS with the card after that. Excellent detail and great performance!!! Vista rates this card as a 3.5, that was disappointing, but what do you expect for the price. Other than that, it does everything wonderfully!! I bought the card mainly for dual monitor action. The only issue I have is the noise from the fan. My new Core 2 Duo was perfectly silent before I installed the card. So it sounds like an old P3 machine.

4 of 5 Vista Home Prem requires More... Tuesday, February 12, 2008
A Customer from St. Cloud, MN
As others stated loud Fan! Overal performance is good. DVI Cable not included, an adapter for the 15 pin VGA was included. I loaded the software into my Vista box as suggested and it used a default Windows Drivers instead. I then went to their site to obtain some updated drivers and then the video finally popped.

3 of 5 DELL SAYS YOU DON'T NEED A 550 WATT POWER SUPPLY Monday, February 11, 2008
A Customer from KANSAS CITY
DON'T BELIEVE THIS BECAUSE MY 375 WATT DID NOT PERFORM AS THEY SAY IT WOULD. I INSTALLED THE CARD AND IT WORKED FOR ABOUT 1 MINUTE BEFORE I GOT THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.THANK GOD FOR THAT EXTERNAL DRIVE BACKUP. I HAVE SINCE ORDERED A 650 WATT POWER SUPPLY AND THE 1 MINUTE I GOT TO SEE OF THE VIDEO CARD GRAPHICS AND QUIET FAN I WAS IMPRESSED. I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I GET MY NEW POWER SUPPLY IN AND THE CARD WORKING, THEN I WILL GIVE A SERIOUS REVIEW. THE COST FOR THE CARD WAS STILL TOO HARD TO PASS UP, BUT PLAN ON SPENDING AROUND $80 ON A NEW POWER SUPPLY. THAT IS NOT SO BAD BECAUSE IT WILL ALLOW FURTHER UPGRADES WITHOUT BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. SINCERELY RANDY

5 of 5 512 meg under 50 bucks! What's not to love... Monday, February 11, 2008
A Customer from Indianapolis, Indiana
I have a x800 ati video card I paid around 300, back in the day, for this card with only 256 ram. I am impressive that I have been able to play the game Counter Strike Source at about 148 fps at 800x600. Not so bad with a e2140 intel 1.6 or 1.8 mhz. I thought I would be able to keep this on the shelve but I have to say I put this in service instantly! Quality fan, I had picked up a 8400 card from PowerColor and this card in less than a month the fan is going bad, this card was over 75 bucks, I am going to replace that card with a x1650 as well.

5 of 5 Great!, but not the best of the best Sunday, February 10, 2008
A Customer from Queens, NY
Ok first off this card is a great upgrade for those who got that 24" monitor and everything seem blury, for those would like to pump up their gaming from thier current 128MB card. This card will give you PS3 & 360 graphics (If the game was made that way ie. Call of Duty 4) SECONDLY- some reviews clame that you need a 400W+ power supply, i'm running this card with 300w, P4 2.8HT, 2 HDD, 2 DVD-Burnes, 1.5GB RAM & a TV Tuner card. The card I recieved did not require a connector from my PSU. THIRD- a card with a fan will have noise vs. a card without a fan, however the noise is minimal and will not drive you to kill yourself or your fist born. OVERALL- it's a great 512 card with the best price and it even has that new video card smell!!

5 of 5 Great product at a great price... Saturday, February 09, 2008
DaHoServer from Idaho
This card raised my Vista Experience Score by .8 pts and is a great improvement in the systems overall performance and video quality. The only issue with it is the fan. The fan is noticable in a very quiet system. In most systems, you probably couldn't even hear it spin. For the special price I got it at and the great Buy.Com shipping, I couldn't be more happy with the purchase.

3 of 5 noisy fan Saturday, February 09, 2008
A Customer from Oakland, CA
Pro: cheap after rebate. Runs fine, but I'm not a gamer. Fan is noisy, though, the loudest component of my box. I tried unplugging the fan as a reviewer suggested, and it worked fine for a while, but then my system would shut down suddenly, with the fan very hot to the touch. If you have a loud system or play loud games a lot, you won't care most likely, but for me it's an issue. I'm looking into replacement fans now, or it'll just end up sitting out as a backup.

3 of 5 Good video card - noisy fan Monday, February 04, 2008
A Customer from Irvine, CA
When offered with a rebate this card is an excellent value. My only complaint is the on-board fan is very noisy. I picked up a Zalman VF-700 aftermarket cooler which purports to work on all X1650 PRO cards, but the mounting hole pattern did not line up. I then took a Zalman VF-900 fan (which has and adjustable mount) off another VGA card and although it did line up the fins hit two electrolytic capacitors on the board & the heat sink would not seat on the chip. Wound up removing the caps & resoldering them on the back of the board.

5 of 5 Works Sunday, February 03, 2008
www.alexizupinhea.com from New York
It works fine and was easy to set up. I don't think I installed all the drivers yet and have gotten the crossfire on my motherboard to work with it. I am using it on a newly built computer I have ubuntu on. I will be getting Windows Xp soon, and hopefully I will be able to get it set up right and be able to do some CRAZY stuff with this card.

3 of 5 Get something else Friday, February 01, 2008
Teddy Petty from Marietta, Ga
The good: Card is inexpensive The bad : Card is cheap The ugly: Card is no longer in my computer:: Works, but is so loud that I removed it from my computer. It actually was inferior to my onboard chipset anyway! Ok, maybe not inferior, but no better. I run Vista Home(that's another story), and the setup was not by the instructions-do this, do that, rather, the install required some tinkering with bios, device manager, etc. What you would expect, but not as simple as the instructions indicated, requires knowledge.. Some people would not be able to install and setup this card. PEOPLE! THIS CARDS' FAN IS LOUD!!. I would not disconnect the fan as another review said, maybe replace it. Spend the extra bucks, buy a better card, be happy.

4 of 5 Nice inexpensive card for Vista Tuesday, January 29, 2008
Todd from Rogers, MN
My wife and I use our Vista computer largely for recording HD TV shows and watching them using Windows Media Center. The onboard video could not keep up with the playback and stuttered constantly. Since switching to this card, playback is smooth and enjoyable. I was surprised to find the entire computer performing better as the load has been shifted onto the graphics card. Vista is currently reporting and Experience Index of 3.7 for Aero and 4.3 for Gaming. I did expect the Aero to be in the low 4s with this card, but I am still happy with the Vista actually functions.

5 of 5 Great video card for price Thursday, January 24, 2008
A Customer from Rochester, NY
I was looking for an inexpensive video card for photography and light gaming. This card delivers. Easy to install, great features and a good price. Was initially worried about the power requirements as I have a Dell Precision 380 with a 370W power supply. My card slot was a dedicated 150W slot so had no worries with the requirements of 75W for this card. Installed the card and it works great, much better that the Nvidia Quattro FX 128MB Card that came with the machine. Can hear the fan a little. Great card and does what is advertised.

5 of 5 upgrade to nearly x1950 speed Friday, January 11, 2008
bMin from Seattle, WA
Radeon x1950 needs a power supply with the new "PCIe" connector, this card comes closest in speed, like a pair of x1550 cards. PC2-6400 memory connected Dual Channel (128 bit buss) so screen updates fast even when 3D games aren't running. Only a cheap HDMI<->DVI cable is needed to use new-ish TV as only/2nd high-Def monitor. Has round socket for component (analog) output to older TVs.

5 of 5 BE AWARE - GREAT CARD (NOT ONE PICTURED)(NO VGA) Thursday, January 10, 2008
MAPLES from FLORENCE, AL
Be aware that the X1650 video card is NOT the one in the picture. The card itself is great but also be aware THERE IS NO VGA OUTPUT. Your monitor must have a DVI input. You can get a cheap small piece converter that screws in between the cord and monitor but in that case you would be defeating some of the output quality of the card (which I'm assuming you got it to upgrade said quality).

5 of 5 Just Installed Friday, January 04, 2008
A Customer from San Antonio, TX
This card was a snap to install! I had no problems with video the instant I installed it. I followed the directions from Diamond regarding the installation of the drivers. Installation of the drivers was fast and easy. Bought the card for some light gaming, Buy.Com had a great price, I think it was $39 after mail in rebate, that's hard to beat for a video card with Dual DVI's and 512MB of RAM. I'm not a serious gamer so I am not going to be pushing the card to it's limits, just wanted something for my new computer to run Call of Duty 4! I think for the $$ this card would be hard to beat!

5 of 5 What a great video card!!!! Thursday, December 27, 2007
A Customer from Castro Valley, CA
I was using an XFX 512 GForce GT and this Diamond Viper ATI 512 X1650 PRO blows it out of the water for Soldier of Fortune 3 and CRYSIS without any lagging!!! Great job for half the price. I am using the AMD 6000 CPU with 2 gig of ram and an ASUS board. It says it needs a 550watt PS but it works great with my 450 watt in any case too. Thanks, Pete
