This sound is, of course, highly appropriate for an urban romantic comedy, but the album is great mood music independent of the movie. In fact, DELIVER US FROM EVA is packed with enough sultry beats and slinky bass lines to satisfy Barry White's masseuse. Highlights include the gospel-tinged "Star For Life," from the intensely soulful Mary J. Blige, "Lovin You (Easy)," a breezy effort courtesy of En Vogue, and "Ain't No Sunshine," a Eurodance-flavored track from talented newcomer Yoli, whose voice bears a striking resemblance to the great Joan Armatrading. The disc closes with classic '70s tracks from Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder, which perfectly complement the subdued, quietly sexy vibe that permeates the entire album. | Producer: Marc Mac; Darren Lighty; Demonte Posey; Eddie F; Tone & Poke; Kowan "Q" Paul; Henry Cosby; Jason Edmonds; Karlin; Keith Crouch; Mary J. Blige; Narada Michael Walden; Nickolas Ashford; Raphael Saadiq; Soulshock; Valerie Simpson; Beau Dozier |
