This second title in the four-book paperback original series--Dean Koontz's Frankenstein--is a brilliant re-imagining of the classic story that only world-renowned and New York Times bestselling author could conceive, bringing the two hundred-year-old "monster," a literate, mysterious loner, to modern day New Orleans on the trail of his creator.

Annotation:
This thriller/horror novel continues the story launched in DEAN KOONTZ'S FRANKENSTEIN: PRODIGAL SON, in which both Victor Frankenstein (now Victor Helios) and his disfigured but decidedly intelligent monster, Deucalion, have survived into our century. In this installment, Deucalion and two New Orleans police detectives confront Victor Helios's army of genetically engineered psychopaths, now undergoing grotesque mutations and no longer responsive to Victor's orders.

Booklist
"Smart dialogue and cutting-edge scientific notions...are the oh-so-sweet icing on this delectable thriller's irresistible, devourable cake." (starred review) - Ray Olson August 2005

Author Bio
Dean Koontz
Along with Stephen King, Koontz is the preeminent horror writer of his age, selling millions and millions of books worldwide. Koontz had a horrific childhood; his father was an abusive alcoholic and his mother was mentally unstable, and they both actively discouraged him from pursuing a writing career. However, when the 12-year-old Koontz won an essay contest, the seed was planted. He studied education and was a high school English teacher from 1967 to 1969, at which point he began writing full time. At the end of the '90s, Dean Koontz has written nearly 80 books of suspense or horror.

Having come to life in a thunderstorm, touched by some strange lightning that animated rather than incinerated, Deucalion had been born on a night of violence.

When he woke to the world, Deucalion had been shackled to a table. This was the first indication that he had been created as a slave.

Unlike God, Victor Frankenstein saw no value in giving his creations free will. Like all utopians, he preferred obedience to independent thought.

That night, over two hundred years in the past, had set a theme of madness and violence that characterized Deucalion's life for years thereafter. Despair had fostered rage. In his rages, he had killed, and savagely.

These many decades later, he had learned self-control. His pain and loneliness had ta
