Wells Fargo messenger Jay McGraw assists his friend, Detective Fred Casey of the Chinatown squad in San Francisco, in stopping the flow of opium into the city. When a member of Casey's squad is found murdered, the only clue is a medieval axe. McGraw and Casey call for help from a private investigator visiting from London by the name of Sherlock Holmes.
