| The sophisticated, oh-so-very-smooth soul of Eric Benet adds some major funk on his second album, A Day In The Life. While remaining one of the more distinctive and elegant of soulsters, with a classic R&B touch, this charismatic singer-songwriter now breaks out with an R&B flow and pop flavor.

Kelly school of overemoting and crass carnality. There was obviously no expense spared in creating the complex textures that define A DAY IN THE LIFE, but the overall impression is one of an artist who doesn't have to overstate his case. Benet keeps things understated in his singing as well as in the album's production. The presence of guests like Roy Ayers and Me'Shell N'Degeocello reinforces the notion that Benet isn't just another dime-a-dozen crooner, but rather a highly developed artist capable of making the very individual statement that is A DAY IN THE LIFE. | Musical Guests | | Faith Evans | | Tamia | | Roy Ayers | | Me'Shell NdegeOcello |
