| | | | | DroboShare provides the most reliable and expandable networked storage system for sharing your data. DroboShare is the ideal solution for sharing and streaming media in the home and the office.
Simplicity
DroboShare provides the fastest and easiest setup experience of any network attached storage product, not only out of the box, but also once you are up and running. Simply plug it in and you’re good to go. Rock steady reliability ensures that you will stay connected, never again suffering another “dropped” network connection.
Supports up to two Drobos
DroboShare can support two simultaneously connected Drobos. This means your networked storage can grow up to a theoretical 32TB on a single DroboShare since each Drobo can grow to 16TB as hard drive sizes expand. Since you’re using Drobo, you can rest assured knowing your storage is not only safe, but also expandable at any time.
DLNA/UPnP and a host of other DroboApps
DroboShare now supports DroboApps, community-created applications that will run on your Drobo and DroboShare, providing exciting extensions for entertainment, productivity and other applications. Use DroboApps to stream media to game consoles like the Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, and more!
Gigabit Ethernet
Whether you’re sharing video in a production studio or streaming a high definition movie to your home media center, the ability to share your data over a local network is critical. DroboShare is equipped with Gigabit Ethernet to meet your demanding requirements.
BeyondNAS: Automatic setup—in just seconds.
Forget everything you’ve ever known about setting up network attached storage; DroboShare is radically simple to set up. Just plug it in. You’ll wonder why you ever spent hours upon hours configuring other solutions.
NAS when you want it, DAS when you need it.
Why choose between the flexibility of network attached storage and the agility of direct attached storage? Demand both from your solution. Simply put your Drobo to sleep and detach it from DroboShare at anytime to take advantage of FireWire 800 or USB 2.0. Repeat the same process to put it back on your network so your files are network accessible again: simply put your Drobo to sleep and attach it to your DroboShare. Isn’t it nice t have to have options?
Windows, Mac and Linux
Built on Data Robotics’ exclusive BeyondRAID™ and BeyondNAS™ technologies, Drobo and DroboShare are file system and operating system agnostic. Format your Drobo NTFS (Windows), HFS Plus (Mac OS X), EXT (Linux) or FAT32 (Various). Connect to your DroboShare and no matter which file system you’ve chosen, you can access it from the Windows, Mac, or Linux client of your choice because DroboShare operates on the open, cross-platform SMB protocol.

5 of 5 DroboShare Monday, August 25, 2008 Mark from St. Louis, MO
Works as it is intended. Have had no problems with the DroboShare. No issues with performance and was very easy to setup. Gave it a "3" on value because this really should have been included with the 2nd generation of drobo, which I purchased as well. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Drobo NAS companion Saturday, February 16, 2008 Bob from Albany, NY
I really like this addition for the Drobo. When I was using it strictly as a USB device, I would have problems on boot up, it would take an extra 3-5 minutes to boot for it to be recognized, same if I plugged it in while running my system. With the NAS it appears without locking my system for a few minutes and has been running about 2 weeks non-stop w/o any issues.
The only reason I gave it a 4 for value, is that you have to buy the Drobo, then the NAS device and it gets pricier than others out there once you add those plus the drives.
Otherwise, I haven't had any problems (OH, I did have to use the install CD to get the right firmware for dashboards, etc to work).
You won't be disappointed. Was this review helpful?
