The physical characteristics of these cards are their weight, 0.07 ounces, their size, one sixth of a credit card (32 mm x 24 mm x 2.1 mm) particularly lends them to communicating mobile markets: personal assistants/PDA, MP3 drivers, Mobile phones, also to digital equipment such as cameras and videos. DANE-ELEC's Secure Digital range comprises cards with 128, 256, 512 MB, 1GB and 2 GB of memory capacity. Their rate of data-transfer varies between 2 and 4 MB per second. Compared to the Multi Media Card composed of 7 connexion pins, the Secure Digital card is composed of 9 connexion pins. This new organisation allows faster transfer of data while the memory card is on SD mode. On the other hand, the Secure Digital has an integrated security mechanism, the CPRM Content Protection for Recorder Media which insures a high degree of protection and file-encryption. It controls the reading, copying, transfer or erase functions. In this way it becomes possible for the user to forbid or authorize the copy or to offer a reproduction right.

i bought a couple of these to work in my kids' DSi's and they are an exceptional value. You really can't beat the price unless Kingston is on sale with free shipping. 2 GB is plenty for the DSi and it's an inexpensive card to hand over to the kids.

I bought 4 of these for my family. We're using them in 3 different brands of cameras, including one dSLR, and in an MP3 player. Works flawlessly in all 4.
When I purchased, they were cheaper, but not free S&H, so came to just over $7 each. I see they're now $6.59 with free S&H, so it's an even better buy now, especially if you need only one.

Made in Japan, its speeds exceed the equivalent of class 6, could be used for Vista ReadBoost. It came with a small and thin plastic storage case that is not much bigger than the card itself, which is great for carrying a spare card in a camera case.
