D-Link Xtreme N DWA-643 Notebook ExpressCard

I got the DWA-643 two weeks ago. I wanted to see how it performed over a period of time before submitting a review. I'm operating on Vista Professional/Home. It is very important that all the old driver files for other cards are removed and that the download for drivers from D-Link are ready to install. I disabled my internal wifi card from system bios before installing this the drivers and this device. All that said, I had problems attaining 300Mbps simply because I wasn't using the WPA2-PSK with AES. Once that was set it is running at 300MBPS and when checking the DIR-655, the speed ranges from 160 - 300. The range for this device is very good, and transfer speeds have improved for my network system. The DWA-643 is and have been working solid with no problems. It is will worth the purchase price and it really does work well with the DIR-655.

I purchased this card because my wireless G in my house was being affected greatly by my new cordless phones that I put in. I put those phones in and I wasn't able to connect at all down stairs in my house. (Wireless router up stairs). I already had the DIR-655 router so I thought I would try the Xtreme N Card for my laptop down stairs to see if it would help. Well, now I have a decent signal downstairs and am able to connect with this N. My only complaint is that it is an Express Card. It doesn't seem to lock in like the old pci cards. It can easily be yanked out without having to use the button on the computer to eject it. It also makes me nervous that I'm going to break it because it sticks out so far from my computer. Other than that it works as advertised.
