4 of 5 Great for the Price !!!!! Saturday, March 14, 2009
Joe from Camden, Delaware

Easy to use at a Great Price !!!! $20 rebate was an Extra ! It was easy to hookup ! Wireless works but being its far away from my Router on different floor I chose to hardwire it and it works Great ! I no longer burn DVD's so it has almost paid itself off easily ...... The only Downside to this is some fast forward or rewind features it doesn't go fast enough as some other people have said !!!!!!

5 of 5 Good - keep expectations in check Tuesday, July 15, 2008
Robert from Chicago, IL
Remember what you are getting for $75. Product was easy to set up if you are familiar with setting up wireless networks. The interface media server is all right - don't do the upgrade. User interface on tv is not bad. It works best if things such as music and pictures are organized on folders in your computer. Video quality is a function of the quality of what you are trying to play. Overall - pretty decent. Built in web site relationships are poor to adequate - a link to Pandora would make this much better. Don't expect much out of this feature. Big fan of using this with my flat screen over the fire place to display a slide show of pictures while entertaining. Most of the reviews are mixed - I don't know what their expectations are. Overall, for about $75, this is a fantastic deal. Yes, it could be better, but I most certainly will use it and am unlikely to replace it until there is a large technology jump. I have recommended this to friends to purchase.

4 of 5 Basic Streaming But Limited Features Monday, June 30, 2008
Joe from Houston, TX
The unit is very easy to install and setup. Granted, I used a wired connection back to my router since I had one right there but it would be pretty easy wireless too. It seems to recognize most file formats and plays them well enough. The problem I have with the unit is that you can choose EITHER to have a FF/RW set of buttons OR a jump to feature. Not Both! This wouldn't be such a bad thing EXCEPT you have only one FF speed and it isn't very fast. You don't have a button that will jump 20 seconds or anything like that. (I mean in file play mode). I did not buy it for the DVD and haven't used the DVD. Others say they are problematic but I wanted it for the video client function. The FF issue is my biggest complaint. Maybe they will address it in firmware. Still, for the money, it is a great buy.

3 of 5 Great Concept, Difficult to Execute Thursday, June 19, 2008
Steven H. from Aurora, IL
I have had this unit for about 6 months now. I spent a few hours that was necessary to get it configured on my secure home wireless network. It was impressive to use it for accessing pictures and media, and I am very impressed with the concept. The problem is that it is sporadic in its performance. If I do not have the program running on my computer to enable it to connect to the wireless network, the media player often will get hung up when you turn it on while it trys to connect to the wireless network. The only option is to turn it off and reboot the unit and try to hit the "menu" button at just the right time while it is rebooting. It is hit or miss and is often a waste of time. The DVD player is okay, but not great. I have not had major problems with it, but it is not as reliable as my older DVD player. I finally got to the point that I reconnected my older DVD player to use with DVD's. Overall the unit has a clumsy interface that needs some work. If you do not have a secure wireless network it should be much easier to get it configured. Additionally if you are not trying to access large files on your computer, you should be fine as well. Otherwise the unit is fine if you have the patience to work with it.

1 of 5 Nice concept, poor implementation Wednesday, June 18, 2008
g.hardee from WPK, CO
Easy setup is the only plus to this device. Using it for viewing pictures from various memory devices works "OK", but is cumbersome to navigate. The progressive scan DVD player works great for the 1st half of a movie and then degrades rapidly (even on a new disk) to where it will no longer read a disk. It appears to be thermal for my particular unit so if you are in to intermissions, take a 30 minute break and then it will read a disk again. I would not recommend this unit to anyone.

4 of 5 Very cool, but a little glitchy Tuesday, May 27, 2008
A Customer from Rosburg, OR
As a DVD player this is decent. It takes about a minute to go through its initial boot sequence, so you have to be patient. And sometimes it wont see the disk until you eject it and insert it a second time. The other problem I had is the wireless networking, it wont recognize my wireless network even though its less than ten feet from the router. At least it also has wired capability. Over all I'm satisfied with it, I mean if your going to have a dvd player anyways, why not get one that can pull media off your pc too? Just don't expect it to walk on water.

5 of 5 Very Happy Thursday, May 22, 2008
A Customer from St. Paul, MN
I bought this unit so I could access home videos I have stored on my hard drive. I use the ethernet connection (not wireless) and it worked flawlessly on the first try. My only complaint is when I connected a 2nd computer, it took a little bit of searching in the setup menu to find my original computer and it is not apparently easy to switch back and forth between the computers. Otherwise, well worth the money.

5 of 5 Very Good device. Please read before you buy. Wednesday, May 07, 2008
A Customer from Milpitas , CA
I got this from buy.com on account of the rebate knocking it down to 75 odd bucks. I read a lot of negative reviews but still decided to get it. I am really happy that I did. I have installed Tversity Media server on my desktop pc and initial set up of the 320 RD took less than 5 minutes !!! Once it found my network and I entered the SSID, I was watching avi's and streaming mp3 files, flac files etc. I mainly got it to stream a lot of flac files that I have. It works pretty flawlessly with Tversity ( the D link media server does not support flacs ). The only problem(s) that I have faced are when playing vob files, it is sporadic and itermittent. Also have to figure out how to stream and play WMV files. Overall I would say that I am a really satisfied customer.

4 of 5 Good entry unit .. but beware! Tuesday, May 06, 2008
ctn007ya from Bartlett, IL
I had this unit for 8 months now. Overall, it serves its purpose reasonably well but not with annoyances and minor issues. The remote is iffy may be the IR signal is too weak; must have direct line-of-sight to work. The DVD is OK for me. It works with retail DVDs as well as my home-made ones. Issue: depending on how you set it up, it may only forward a chapter or fast-forward (play with increase speed) but not both! And, the for-no-good-reason shutdown of the unit while playing DVD as well as streaming media is annoying! It needs a better Music selection interface. Setting up to work with my wireless network is simple enough. My is secured with WEP and MAC filtering. So, no big deal to configure the router to add this device. Issue: get the MAC address from this device took me 30 minute because the document did not show how to! I used to have issues with skipping and video freezes on my 802g network. But, since I upgrade the network to 802n, the issue seems to be less severe (still persisted, mind you). Especially, with action movies streamed from my HPMediaVault, my laptop, desktop. I guess, the wired network should not have this issue. My media server is mainly the HPmediaVault, the NAS + media streaming. So far, this unit perform well with it. Things I like about this unit is that it can play AVI, MPG, DIXV movies from the DVD. Just save all AVI, MPG, etc. clips to the rewrittable DVDs or regular DVDs (to save online space) and watch them on the 320RD. No such luck on regular DVD player. With a small kids at home, they watch a movie 10000 times before move on to a different one, this 320RD can save a lot of wear-and-tear on the DVD player and the media! If D-Link can improve this media player to offer functions similar to regular DVD player, it would have bright future.

3 of 5 Good streaming media but bad disk player Wednesday, April 30, 2008
louhall_2000_99 from Buffalo, NY
After having purchased over 1000 DVDs I was looking for a replacement DVD player to my Kenwood home theatre and saw this to replace the old DVD player. I am having nothing but trouble with this item. First; it has issues in recognizing DVDs, even as I can take the same disk and play it fine in another player. It dosn't matter if it's a Dual/Single Layer disk recognition is a problem. The fix; after disk is in machine turn it off if it says "no disk", then back on; then choose DVD and it plays. Another fault it has is you can play disk after disk as I usually do on a Saturday but it will choose to shut itself off for no reason; I was thinking it was heat or dust related but not the case after careful inspection. It simply gets "tired" of playing. I turn it back on and it's good for the rest of the day. As a streaming media player it does a good job. It allows for many different formats and does allow you to choose them from the folder listing where you store your files. One feature that also works well is sharing with Media Player 11 library listing. So if you want it for streaming media it's OK but try to leave the DVD player alone.

4 of 5 Streaming media takes skill! Monday, April 21, 2008
A Customer from glendale, ca
Every lan connected media device takes time to figure out and requires specific formats to work with. This player is no exception. You need to figure out how to burn movies with the correct format for this player to work right. That will take you some time to learn. I had no problems updating firmware, connecting to 3 different media servers (dlink, tversity, WMC 2.0). It does pause playback for a few seconds with DVD's and will not play DVD -r, only +r. If you work within the guidlines this is a good, entry level media player for $75 to learn about streaming media servers. My first unit would not play DVD's and a simple call to dlink got it replaced with a new unit right away. I have no complaints about Dlinks service.

1 of 5 item and company are junk! Saturday, April 05, 2008
A Customer from new york, new york
Dvd player had issues out of the box. Player skips after being on several minutes. Card reader is very limited. Warranty service is a complete scam. Here's why. When you email them, you get a case number. When you call you're told to go their rma web site. Problem there is no record of the case. You call back, if you get connected (very iffy) plan on being on hold 1 hour or more. After speaking to tech support they give you a new case number. When you go back to the rma site, it tells that they want the player, the remote, all cables, the antenna, even the original cd or you will be charged additionally. What other company does this? Enough said. If you're the fool (like me) buy it. Cheap for a reason, worthless at any price.

4 of 5 Good price but there are problems Wednesday, April 02, 2008
Dave from Tulsa, OK
The D-Link Wireless Media Player is relatively easy to set up, especially if you use the USB Connect Now feature. It works great for audio, especially with the direct connection to Live 365. It works with any media server software like the one built into Windows Media Player 11, so the supplied server isn't needed. The video, however, is rather limited in the formats supported and in particular it does NOT support the .dvr-ms format that Windows MCE uses to store recorded TV programs. So plan on using a video converter program to be able to watch videos. The unit I received also failed to read any DvD disk, so I'm go to have to return it.

1 of 5 Sorry, but this is just 0/10 Saturday, March 29, 2008
A Customer from Pleasanton, CA
I'm sorry to have to say I could not make it to work, even my only purpose was to listen to radios streamed out of the web. I use two laptops, both with Windows XP. Since I am the kind of user who likes a turnkey solution and does not want to spend days and days solving something probably not completely reliable (I already wasted around 6 hours on this searching the web), I just give up and will look for something that just works for my "simple" needs.

3 of 5 Needs improvement Saturday, March 22, 2008
A Customer from New Jersey
Positive: Easy to set up, connects easily to my wireless network (as opposed to the Netgear I had before which took numerous attempts before establishing a connection), plays music, photos and videos from my computer remotely. <p><p>Negative: DVD freezes every time I turn it on and when I push the eject button or any other DVD button for that matter - it requires a reboot before it decides to work. It would only connect to the wireless network if I disable my firewall! With the supplied media server certain video file types will play without sound but TVersity seems to resolve this problem. Occasionally it freezes during DVD playback.

1 of 5 I'm returning it... Thursday, March 20, 2008
A Customer from Monroe Township, NJ
Its good for the money if all you need is a DVD player and an MP3 media streaming in one unit.<ul> <li>Failed to connect to my wireless network although all my PCs, laptops and the PS3 can. I had to connect it using a network cable. <li>MP3 streaming is the only thing that worked fine for me. <li>Video streaming is too slow and I failed to get audio to work for any video format I tried. <li>Photos display quality is way below average. <li>The remote control is one of the worst I've ever used. First it doesn't respond, and when it does, it over responds. And you have to point it directly at the unit. </ul>

3 of 5 It's worth the money - REBATE WARNING Friday, February 22, 2008
A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
I have had mine for nearly 3 months. It has it's issues, but all-in-all it's worht the money if you're getting the $50 rebate. I would not pay any more than $75. SAVE A COPY OF YOUR REBATE SUBMISSION AND ENVELPOE - more on that later. I have a fairly large CD collection and figured I could load all my CDs to my hard drive at a high bit rate and play through my Home Theater system. The wireless is less than you would expect. It kept disconnecting even though I used some high gain antennas and had no problems with any other wireless devices. I ended up hardwiring to the server and the player still skips fairly often while playing mp3's - support is no help. I have usually had good luck with Dlink suport, but the group that handles therir media servers is useless. Every time I restart my computer, I get a warning that there is new software to download, but when I whoose the option to download, it tells me I cannot connect to the server. A call to tech support yielded the response to just ignore it if the media server is working - It's an annoyance on every boot. Cumbersome menu - if they could get this right, this would be a decent piece, but it is difficult to get to one CD if you have a lot to go through. For the price, I consider it disposable - I'll get a real one in a couple of years when the technology and software imprive. As for the REBATE: it seems Dlink is doing what many other rebates are doing - an automatic reection even though you've followed the directions exactly. I received a card saying I did not attach the original UPC, which I did. Luckily, I saved copies of everything as well as the original box, so I could even show the match of the cut out UPC tot he box. If I had not done that, I would have been SOL! A phone call solved the issue, but this is something I've noticed increasingly, especially on higher dollar rebates. SAVE COPIES OF EVERYTHING IF YOU EXPECT YOUR REBATE.

1 of 5 Don't Waste Your Money Thursday, February 21, 2008
A Customer from Valencia, California
I purchased the D-Link HD Media version in past and was very unsatisfied with the unit as well as their support. The HD version suppose of support HDMI/DVI, but the DVI interface was never completed. Their support simply said it will not on DVI. Please note that you can use your Nintendo Wii with Orb (www.orb.com) to stream photos or videos from your PC to your TV. Don't waste your money on this useless gadget.

4 of 5 Great for the price! Saturday, February 16, 2008
A Customer from Winston-Salem NC
I have had this product for a month now and like it a lot. After a lot of reading, I didn't even bother loading the included software but downloaded Tversity instead. It works pretty darn well. I was running it wireless (with a cheap Trendnet router) but switched to a wired connection, which was much better for video. Sure, the Dlink is a little slow to respond to remote signals. Sure, it can act a little quirky. I figure when you're trying to get so many different elements (Dlink, Tversity, your computer, the internet) to work together, you're going to have some glitches. Honestly, I have no hands-on experience with other media players but for what you get here for the price after rebate, how can you go wrong?

3 of 5 Not bad for the money. Saturday, February 16, 2008
David from Land O Lakes, FL
The installation is simple, and the player plays music, video and pictures from your computer rather easily. The memory card reader displayed pictures from my digital camera easily, although the unit is quite slow going from picture to picture. I was disappointed that it will not play a windows media video. *.wmv it says that it will not support wmv files, even through Windows Media connect. The DLink Media server will recognize these files after an update, however, the latest firmware for the DSM-320RD does not. My box locks up when you try to connect to a computer with Windows Media Sharing. Dlink is processing an RMA for my box (1 week old) due to this problem, even though it still works through their DLink media server software. The remote also has very low signal strengh. It has to be pointed directly (straight line not angled) at the unit. I have a logitech harmony remote that works much better. One other complaint is that it doesn't scale movies to the screen. For example, if the movie is "square" it doesn't stretch the picture to fit my widescreen TV even though you set the display to 16x9. Overall, it works well for what I bought it for. It could be better for sure.

2 of 5 Save your money for something better Wednesday, February 06, 2008
A Customer from Michigan
I bought this device in the hope that I wouldn't have to spend the money on the Apple equivalent. (now i'm saving up for one) Unfortunately the DSM 320RD leaves a lot to be desired. It has definite issues with playback and the picture quality is horrible. When watching DVD's or video files you will get frequent white flashes on the screen. Sometimes the video file ends early. And the worst thing to have happen is when playing a DVD sometimes the unit would spontaneously shut itself off. It has no memory function to remember where you leave off and it is difficult if not possible to fast forward or rewind in video files. Set up of the unit was easy but this is no comfort for lack usability. Save your money to get a unit that has a better design. Do the research. I wish I did.

4 of 5 Good product .. Tech support Unfriendly Sunday, February 03, 2008
A Customer from Houston, TX
The product was promised to FF/ RW video files on the PC but some of my media clips won't do this. I had to contact the tech support with this & that was a very loooooog hold for someone to answer( at times they even hung up on me) After persistent nagging about this problem for a couple of days, with Tech support, finally somebody told me to recode my exising troubled videos using NERO encoder, which finally solved the problem Other than this experience, it is really nice... Thanks, SR

4 of 5 Worth the current price with rebate @ $79 Wednesday, January 23, 2008
A Customer from Detroit, MI
I also own a Netgear EVA700. Have been running that with myihome and all was well. Installed the DSM-320, and myihome did not recognise it. The software that came with the DSM-320 did install and work on both the D-Link and Netgear boxes, but was missing some of the features of the myihome media server software. I downloaded tversity, and voilla...both boxes are happy and I can stream YouTube and other RSS content including movies, photos, music that comes canned with the device. Have been able to play every movie format I have tried so far with tversity. Worth a mention, some of my higher quality videos stuttered with the D-Link software, but play fine with tversity. This is on a 100 mb wired connection. Give it a go...you won't be sorry. No issue after the firmware upgrade with any content, as was mentioned by another reviewer. The remote leaves a bit to be desired..it is flakey at times.

4 of 5 Interesting features Wednesday, January 23, 2008

It took us some time to get accustomed to the media server software because the Norton firewall got in the way on the PC. We had to reboot the PC for the unit to see the configuration changes on the PC. Also, the player does not show any indication that it is working on a command from the remote, so when it takes some time to respond, it's hard to know if the command was taken. Still, it's nice to be able to watch photos while listening to music, both from the network PC.

5 of 5 Worked perfect Friday, January 18, 2008
A Customer from Omaha NE
Easy to set up runs fine. I am using it wirelessly and the only security I have on my wireless is mac filtering, and it is within about 15' of my router(belkin G). only once or twice have I had it get choppy. I'm confident a hardline would fix it. I'm thinking about buying a second. After the rebat it was only $80.

4 of 5 Good price - some limitations Friday, January 18, 2008
A Customer from Chicago, IL
Bought 320RD at awesome price at buy.com $80 after rebate. I read the amazon reviews about connectivity issues and worried some, but the setup was relatively painless; if you know how to set up your wifi router you should be able to set this up -- Biggest limitation is it does not play divx movies only xvid, and it would'nt play some dvd-r's I had created that generally would play on my other dvd player. Overall cool for the price

4 of 5 Not bad for the price Tuesday, January 15, 2008
xyz from ny,ny
This is my second review. Somehow my first review didn't display here.....don't know why.. I got this DSM-320RD about 2~3 weeks and I did spend some time played with it. I original gave it 5 stars on my first review, but the more I play with it the more problems I found. Therefore I took one star off. it has lots of features to play with. It plays CD/SVCD/DVD+-RW, MP3. With the Ethernet connection through both WLAN/LAN, it plays photo slide show, MP3 music, and stream video through the MediaLounge that shared with an ALWAYS ON computer. Besides that, it can plays photo/MP3/videos through the built-in 5 to 1 card reader and also through internet connection to the web (partnered online service providers, AOL & etc...)to listen radios and download music. Be aware, the USB it has is use for the wireless setup ONLY and NOT for read-in photo/MP3/video, which is one thing I feel upset about. Another draw back is that it doesn't able to browse into the network drive or folder directly and it must required an AWAYS ON computer to share the files to play, which mean it can't browse the files on my network drive. In addition, this d-link media player seems not work with other brand router (at least it doesn't work with my newer trendnet Gbit router, but work flawless with my older d-link router both LAN/WLAN...note: all my other d-link wireless card doesn't work with this rendnet router as well). As for the wireless video streaming I don't has much problem on it with 2 rooms in between, however, it does choke a little when lots of people constantly walk in between your router and the the media player. My newer router should be able to get the better signal (indeed, it is the case for my other wireless connection), unfortunately, so far I didn't get it to work with this media player. good: 1. lots of features. 2. play photo/MP3/video on cd+-RW/svcd/dvd+-RW. 3. has output of composite/s-video/component (come with composite/s-video cables but not component cables). 4. built-in 5 to 1 card reader. 5. Capable stream video, photo, MP3 through shared MediaLounge. (LAN/WLAN). 6. Play online mp3/radio through d-link partnered online service providers. bad: 1. No USB for read-in photo/mp3/video 2. Can not browse into folders of the network server. 3. It seems not work with other brand router. 4. no HDMI port If you can live with the bad I mentioned above, then it is a very good toy to buy, otherwise look somewhere else.

Won't play audio files over 128Kbps. Sluggish, cumbersome interface. Easily networked, though.

2 of 5 The one that I received was a real turd!!! Sunday, January 13, 2008
A Customer from Baltimore, MD
Came right out of the box fine, hooked up fine, saw the network and the media server, then slowly things started going wrong. The machine was very picky when it came to playing DVDs (regardless of format). Sometimes it would play a certain DVD, sometimes it would not be able to read it. This happened on at least 25+ different DVDs. When streaming videos, it would see and play the various Video_TS files/folders, but you could not chapter forward or backward (just FF or RS scan at 3 different speeds). This biggest issue that I had with my turd of a machine was that it would randomly power itself down. Could make it 45 minutes, could make it 4 hours, no sense could be made of it, it would just up and shut itself off... hmmm! Oh yeah, my turd's ROM drive door would not open initially, D-link helped me manually fix that. Right now my turd should be heading to D-link via UPS Ground (at an additional cost of $40) for a checkup, especially since Buy.com won't replace it with that wonderful return/replacement policy that they have. Its quite comparable to their price guarantee policy... ahem... agrivatingly pathetic, and always full of exceptions!

1 of 5 Defective Product Terrible Support Tuesday, January 08, 2008
A Customer from New Jersey
Bottom line, save your money. Out of the box, the unit could not see my network, or any others in the area. After multiple calls calls to tech support in which they disconnected me twice, and waiting more that 25 minutes per call, they had me perform multiple resets and eventually, the unit saw all available networks. At this point I thought I was in the clear, so hung-up with tech support. I tried to view some picture folders, but some would not display while others would. Music streaming was working fine, except for Rhapsody. About 4 minutes later the unit shut itself down and rebooted. Once again, it would not detect any networks. I repeated the lengthy reset proceedure and the networks again became visable. I quickly viewed a movie file, which was very jittery before the unit rebooted again... After multiple more calls, I come to find out that D-Link will not refund the cost and will only replace the unit and I must pay the shipping charges.

3 of 5 expected more I guess Sunday, January 06, 2008
A Customer from houston, tx
1) Easy to setup, on LAN no issues, with wireless i had to change my apple extreme to a mode this supported so i had to change my printer etc also. The wireless reception is strong <p> 2) file types: my biggest reason to get this was to watch recoreded media center files from another tv rather then just my pc. these files DON'T show up in the list this is why i'm down rating the device<p> For divx or xvid files, it works good, sound is a bit grainy but overall better then what i used to do is save to SD card then play with my dvd player that had SD card support. <p> if i could get my MS dvr-ms files to show up . this would be awesome product. <p> I compare this to my other trial i'm doing by connecting a apple mac mini to my LCD, using VLC player, i can watch any file type and also i get full computer access but of course at a much steeper price.

This Media Player is AWESOME!!!! It does everything I wanted and more and a great BUY.COM price. Best Buy has a player similar to this for $160 but it does not have the DVD player. It has exceeded my every expectation.

5 of 5 good for the price Thursday, January 03, 2008
A Customer from ny
I own this D-Link Wireless Media Player about a few weeks. It works great so far. However, I haven't exercise every single functionality yet. I am pretty much like it since it has lots of nice features and the functions I have been tested seem work pretty well (photo slide show, music, video play back at wireless with two rooms in between -- not a straight hall between my router and the media player). I want to talk a little bit more about the video play back experience at wireless because I think many may interest to know about it. On my own experience as the distance mentioned above, the video play back is somewhat good but not perfect, it does choke a little once a while. I believe this is the majority of the wireless common problem when many people do constantly walk in between your router and media player (transceiver). One thing I don't like it because I can't browse into my mini-file server (not a regular computer) to see the other files except I have to leave my computer on and share with D-Link Media Server. Or probably just me that didn't figure out this feature. Overall I am please with it with such price.

4 of 5 Good unit for what it costs Wednesday, January 02, 2008
T.Nguyen from Chicago, IL
Once to get it works, it does a fair job; the wireless communication is useless for movie. Must have network wired attached. Setting up the wireless is painful for those that have security setup for their wireless network. The unit does not have any function to reveal its MAC address to setup the router. You have to disable the security, let it connected then write down the MAC address. When the MAC address is known, setting it up is a breeze. The remote control unit left much to be desired. It is quite touchy; the unit slow to response to the remote unit is irritating! And, unless you have a direct line-of-sight, good luck with the remote! Maybe later model is better than this. But, for what it costs, this unit is a good entry level for streaming stuffs from your PC to your mega-theater equipments.

5 of 5 Works as Promised Wednesday, December 05, 2007
Dave from Chicago, IL
Have been using this for about a week now, and I have to say it works pretty darn good. I was impressed by the strength of the wireless signal it picked up. Streaming of audio and pictures works very well (have no need to stream video), and the fact that it will output a widescreen display to my plasma TV is also a big benefit. My only gripes are these - 1. the navigation on the TV for getting to songs could be simpler. 2. the screen saver only comes on when in the menus (not playing music for instance) - this is a big problem for plasmas b/c of burn-in so I'm forced to turn my TV off when playing music. (apparently there is a fix for this but it's yet to download) For the price - $130 after rebate, you get a lot.

5 of 5 Greatest Thing Ever!!! Friday, November 30, 2007
gabrielsmith from Pittsburgh, Pa
This is everything that AppleTV should have been and ten times more. It plays files that my PC can't even play! VOB files are easily recognized, files steam flawlessly from my Westell wireless router, and I'm watching things for the very first time on my HDTV. I'm absolutely amazed. Buy this thing if you just want to lay in bed and scroll through your video collection, music collection, or photo collection without having to hook up any kind of fancy system. Seriously. I'm thinking about buying two more of these things.

5 of 5 THIS THING ROCKS! Tuesday, August 28, 2007
Sheldon xfilesboy81 from McKinleyville Ca
With some of the other reviews out there, I was skeptical. I have a dlink router so that is a plus, I hate linksys anyways. Setting up to the router was a breeze, wireless works magnificent *again dlink router* has a few hickups everynow and then but nothing big. Dvd player works perfectly, I burn just about any good movie, and it plays them all...on dvd-r and dvd+r or rw....mp3 cds.. I mean this thing does it all. Just to tell you how good the wireless works, I used my laptop instead of my desktop, and thinking it would glitch....worked just as good as my wired desktop. Wireless to wireless kicked a$$ as well. The only complaints.... 1. The remote is a little tricky...sometimes it works, others it wont. The IR sensor is touchy, have panteince and you'll get used to it. 2. If you have an "Unknown" album in ANY artists folder, it will put ALL of the "unknown" songs togther no matter what artists. that aside this thing is great. Trust me you wont be dissapointed, as i am very tech savvy and know networking/wireless networking....get it, and at the buy.com price with the mail in 5o bucks and the 10 off if you make a google.com account...what a score! Just buy it NOW!

5 of 5 Pretty good so far Thursday, June 30, 2005
David from Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia
just received my dsm-320rd. i have been reading mixed reviews of the dsm-320 model and wasn't sure what to expect. i needed to replace an older dvd player, so i figured for a bit more $$ might as well buy this unit and if they get the bugs worked out with the "extra" features (streaming music, video, etc.) then it would be just that much better than a regular dvd player. so far, after a week of using it, it plays dvds great. it also is streaming my music and photos just fine so far. i even tried Tversity media server software (www.tversity.com) and it has streamed live TV stations from around the world. That's pretty awesome. So far no technical issues whatsoever. I have not had to reset the box at all. I'm using it wirelessly which seems fine for photos and music, but with videos it's choppy. when i go wired, that solves that problem. the interface is intuitive. the remote works fine (had read reviews of the dsm-320 remote not working past a few feet from the unit- no problems with this one). all in all, i really enjoy the box. my wife even enjoys the slide shows of the old photos we forgot were on the computer hdd.
