| | | | D-Link is pleased to introduce the
D-Link SECURICAM Network
DCS-950G Wireless Internet Camera, a full-featured surveillance system that connects to a broadband Ethernet or wireless network to provide remote high-quality audio and video. Using 802.11g wireless technology, the DCS-950G transfers video and audio wirelessly at up to 54Mbps*.
You can access and control the
DCS-950G Wireless Internet Camera using Internet Explorer version 6. As you watch and listen remotely to video and sound obtained by the DCS-950G, you can take snapshots or record directly from the Web browser to a local hard drive without installing any software, making it convenient to instantly capture any moment no matter where you are.
For more recording flexibility, you can configure the DCS-950G to record to network-attached storage (NAS), eliminating the need to set up a dedicated computer for storing recorded video.
With 0.5 lux light sensitivity, the DCS-950G Wireless Internet Camera is capable of capturing video in rooms with minimal lighting, making it ideal for use at night time.
The DCS-950G Wireless Internet Camera adheres to the Universal Plug & Play (UPnP) specification which allows computers running Windows XP/Me to recognize the
DCS-950G and automatically add it to the network. The
DCS-950G can be accessed and viewed from My Network Places as a device on the network.
Securely connect the DCS-950G to a wireless network using WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access), providing you a much higher level of security than has previously been available for Internet cameras. The DCS-950G also features a Site Survey tool, allowing users to easily find wireless networks within the range of the camera.
By signing up with one of the many free Dynamic DNS services available on the Web, you can assign an easy-to-remember name and domain to the camera (e.g. www.mycamera.myddns.com). This allows you to remotely access your camera without having to remember the IP address, even if it has been changed by your Internet Service Provider.
Everything needed to get started is included with the
DCS-950G. Simple installation procedures, along with the built-in Web-based interface offer easy integration into your network environment. Powerful surveillance software is included to enhance the monitoring and management of the DCS-950G, allowing you to archive video straight to the hard drive, playback video, monitor up to four cameras on a single screen, and set up motion detection to trigger video/audio recording and send e-mail alerts. The DCS-950G is a cost-effective and versatile security solution for your home or business.

3 of 5 E-Mail notification is difficult to implement Monday, August 18, 2008 eduardo from Boulder, CO
Overall the cameras perform well.
Programming is quite straight forward, but the manual is not very helpful.
Main problem lies with the alerting action. I could not get e-mail notification to work.

4 of 5 Image quality not great Tuesday, June 24, 2008 Frank S from Westlake, OH
This camera installed and setup easily. It replaced a webcam connected via USB to a computer. It's image quality is acceptable, but definatly not as good as a regular webcam. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Does not work as well in the dark as stated. Saturday, May 10, 2008 Bob from Los Angeles, Ca
For basic daytime viewing on Explorer on a PC it is alright.
If you have a MAC or use Firefox on a PC forget it.
It uses only ActiveX to view it/control it.
Its low light viewing sucks. There has not been an update for the software/hardware in years. It smells like a discontinued item. So it should be cheaper. I felt ripped off. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Worked for a day... Tuesday, April 29, 2008 Jay from Woodinville, WA
I got this camera because of the price and value of features.
Guess I should have read some reviews online. Seems these cameras have some issues. I got a dud unit -- which seems to be commonplace with these "950" cameras. It setup and installed easy enough. I used all the defaults. It worked for about 12 hours, when I woke up the next morning to view the camera web page showed "Camera Server Error!".
After 2 days of fiddling with the thing - flashing, resetting, unplugging - I just couldn't get it working again.
I'm returning it for a replacement tomorrow...hopefully I get something that works better (and longer)! Was this review helpful?
3 of 6 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 Disappointed Wednesday, June 27, 2007 Saulo from Georgetown, DE
The CD that comes with the camera, does not have the software it advertises, everytime you click on a title to install it, it tells you it is not on the cd. Technical support is bad, you can find software to update you product. Was this review helpful?
