1 of 5 NOT Vista compatible Wednesday, September 10, 2008 digroovio from Broomfield, CO
Contrary to what is listed on D-Link's web site, this adapter is NOT compatible with Windows Vista. You can get the driver to install but Vista blocks the program that syncs devices. Tech support was offshore and horrible. It took me 15 minutes to explain what the problem was to him. I'm not even sure he understood what the adapter is used for, and he was unaware if there were any plans to release a new Vista driver. His solution was to install Windows XP. 2 of 5 Mac Users Beware - WON'T "wake from sleep&quo Monday, August 11, 2008 Prairie Dog from Baton Rouge, LA
I had bought this with the hope that it was Hardware Version (HV) B# as indicated by the picture displayed at the time I ordered, which depicted the adapter in older D-Link blue & gray. What I actually received was HV C1, which is black & orange color. Admittedly, this is Mac compatible, plug & play, etc. However, it cannot be upgraded via the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Updater. This means NO WAKE FROM SLEEP option via bluetooth keyboard or mouse! Apple doesn't appear to be planning on to updating their firmware updater, so look else-where for a HV B2, HV B3, or HV B4 USB 1.1 DBT-120 Adaptor if the lack of "wake from sleep" as an option is a deal-killer for you. Or if not, just buy a less expensive adapter. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Works well but won't wake computer Sunday, July 27, 2008 A Customer from Newington, CT
I purchased this item to use with an older Apple computer (G4 iBook). Apple lists this as a supported item. It was an easy plug and play to get it to work. The Apple keyboard and mouse synced on the first try but apparently the latest version of this item (hardware firmware version C1) has an issue. You can only use certain versions (B2 - B4) to get the "allow this device to wake the computer from sleep" option to work.
This is certainly NOT a Buy.com issue. They shipped quickly and I am very satisfied with their price and service and the $10.00 rebate was a nice extra Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 regret bought without reading reviews Friday, July 25, 2008 sinnud@gmail.com from Irvine, CA
I bought it without reading reviews. At last, I met the problem similar with other reviewers: I can't install driver in Windows XP using the CDROM coming with this adapter. I will try linux. Wish it will work. Was this review helpful?

Don't bother with this item. Drivers (supplied or retrieved from DLink's site) don't work, have struggled, gotten it to work, then it quit.
Reinstalled, uninstalled, worked for hours/days - I buy products with the intent of becoming more productive, not to waste infinite 'free' time examining their functionality. Was this review helpful?

From what I understand, the Bluetooth stack program for the DBT120 is provided by Toshiba and "licensed" by D-Link. Problem is, the software is an "evaluation copy" that expired after 30 days. Calls to D-Link support (Level I & II) have been met with disbelief, disconnects and no callback. D-Link's site FAQ presents a "fix" that doesn't fix anything for either W2K or XP Pro. Bought two to support Skype access and the DBT120 works very well when the software hasn't expired. No other Bluetooth stack software (3 others so far) recognizes the device. Since just before Christmas, I've had to obliterate all Toshiba entries from the registry and reinstall three times. Worst experience with D-Link I've ever had... Was this review helpful?

Have XP Pro SP2 and could not load drivers. Had tech support on the phone numerous times, and they had no clue. Told me the adapter was defective and to send it back. Did that, but could only exchange. Tried loading new one, and the removal of the old program kept getting an error message, and stopped. Could not load drivers if the old Bluetooth Stack could not be removed. Called support. Once again, they have no clue. Told me their software must have corrupted my registry and they do not know anything about registry editing. They do not even know where the entries are in the registry for Bluetooth Stack. They told me to get another computer (mine is relatively new) and hung up.

5 of 5 Sweet! Thursday, August 30, 2007 A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
Out of the box plug and play - it connected my Ericsson T610 to my Mac G5. I stuck it in my son's G4 and it connected to his Sliver instantly. No problems, ease of use, couldn't be smaller. Love it! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice n Easy Monday, July 02, 2007 A Customer from Washington, DC
Works Great. I had bought an Anycom dongle, and it was very spotty, hard to get setup and use. This D-link however, was super easy. Once I installed the software, it connected instantly and seamlessly with my bluetooth headset and my Treo. I was amazed. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Easy to Use Monday, May 28, 2007 JB from Kokomo, IN
I got this adapter so I could upload mp3s to my phone from my computer. It was easy to install and uploads at a reasonable rate of speed. I also like the software that comes with it. The main reason I chose D-Link is because I know that they will update the firmware as needed especially if and when I get Vista. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 D-Link DBT-120, excellent product Thursday, October 12, 2006 A Customer from Asheville NC
I bought this one week ago and it works like a charm. I am using it with a Sony Ericson picture phone.
Installation note. If you are using windows XP Service pack 2 all you need to do is plug it into your USB port. Installation is a breeze. I got this advice from another review at buy.com. They were right and I am extremely happy with the product, price, delivery and performance. Was this review helpful?

Other reviews indicated possible problems with XP. Even data sheet from D-link indicated needing to download drivers from site. I had no problems using with XP SP1 or 2. For SP1, the plug and play loaded all drivers automatically. For SP1, I simply used the disk which came with the DBT-120; everything loaded without a hitch. Was this review helpful?

I have bought two DBT-120 Bluetooth Adapters and find that they work just fine. Note: if you have Windows XP Service Pack 2 you do have to follow the special instructions on the dlink.com support site to get the correct drivers loaded. I use the DBT-120 to connect my Axim X50v and Nokia 6820 to my PC and laptop with no problems. Was this review helpful?

I bought this product at Buy.com and just got it 2 days ago.
It is painful to use with Windows XP Pro and my T610. I have tried many methods from D-Link website and other bluetooth forums to make it works. I installed the software from D-Link website and it kept asking me for the security key which I need to get from the the other D-Link website. And the security key website showed an error message that the product ID is invalid and I may bought the product from Apple which couldn't be used with PC.
I sent emails to customer support and got the answers that only in FAQs section which i had read all that and nothing there worked. I called the customer support twice and didn't get any help. They told me they couldn't give me the security key because it was not their responsible. They even told me to call Sony Ericsson to get help.
Now I give up, I will return this product. Was this review helpful?

This adapter is about the size of about 2 keycaps on an average keyboard and it's not much thicker than the female end of a USB port. I use it with OS X Panther and it's instant plug and play. What more can you expect from a bluetooth adapter? I didn't test the range or throughput but I don't necessarily care--it works with my phone. As a bonus it has LEDs for power and link, although when I stick it into my Apple keyboard it faces away from me. Was this review helpful?

I bought 2 of these so that when I meet up with a friend or run into someone, anyone, with a laptop say at a trade show, or meeting, we can trade files in seconds flat. I pull these out of my bag and we stick them in an available USB slot on our laptops and suddenly we are networked. Not everyone has a 802.11 wireless card, or Ethernet connection on their PC, but just about every laptop has USB ports. They work reliably every time I use them, and they have pretty fair range. We can't be in different rooms or anything and it isn't fun to transfer Gigs of info, but for the occasional 1-10MB file this works perfect. Everytime I show people these they are always impressed and want one, or two for themselves. This also helps close the deal with some of my clients, it shows that I've done this before and am ready for all situations. Was this review helpful?
