4 of 5 OK Inexpensive Alternative Thursday, April 24, 2008 MP from Hampton Falls, NH
In the end, it functioned as I need it too. But I had the following issues in setting it up:
1) The web admin interface wouldn't work on XP with IE 7 or Firefox. I couldn't figure it out. I had no problem from my Vista workstation.
2) I had enter in special rules to allow my Cisco Client VPN software to work.
But after the initial humps, I've had no problems with Vonage passthrough or with running generic PPTP VPN connections through it (things that have tripped up other routers I've used). It's now my primary home router. Was this review helpful?

After reading some of the reviews I decided to buy one for my small home network. Received it and connected everything together and I had the network up and running. If you are planning to buy make sure you have a RJ 45 network port on your pc, because I had my modem connected to my pc using a usb. I had to unplug it and connected the RJ 45 ethernet cable. Follow the directions and you will be ok. Good luck :) Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Designed for the Novice - Performs like a Pro Saturday, February 16, 2008 LDM from Huntington Beach, Ca
Installation was made easy with the flow chart and notes included in the package. The additional software included in the package made connection to devices on the network a relative breeze. Was this review helpful?

my connection is SBC high speed internet DSL. I needed a new router because my old one was dieing on me. I saw this one and heard all the great reviews on it so I got one. I hooked it up to my modem and nothing happened, I loaded the CD and immediately it started loading up some anti virus stuff on my computer which I did not need. I tried everything to get this thing to work but it was like the router was not even connected. I sent it back and got my money back and got a linksys router which works great.
If you have SBC do not get this system because does not work. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Amazingly easy setup Thursday, January 10, 2008 A Customer from Carrollton, TX
Altho I'm an experienced computer user since the early 1970's, used to write programs, and have built several computers, networking terms never made sense to me. I've tried to set up a home network several times, and it usually involved a couple of hours on hold with tech support, and didn't work in the end.
With the 2310's installation wizard, I had both my notebooks up and connected in under an hour. It even recognized my V-Com System Suite firewall, and had the setup screenshots to configure the firewall.
With price and features it can't be beat for a small home network. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far it's been great... Wednesday, January 02, 2008 Mark from Williamsburg, VA
I purchased this router specifically so I could connect to Xbox Live. Shipping was very fast considering the holidays. I simply followed the instructions according to the software program provided. It is the first time I've used a router of any kind. It was very user friendly and has performed just as expected. I selected this particular one because it was listed as one of the known compatible routers to use with my Xbox. It is connecting fine but I still have yet to connect with Xbox Live due to the servers being so busy. Looks like everyone recieved one for Christmas! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Meets expectations Thursday, December 06, 2007 A Customer from Charlottesville VA
I bought this router to add a hardware firewall to a computer newly connected to DSL, and allow another computer internet access if needed.
I had to do some looking to find it has a layer of protection I hoped for, but after wading through installation, it has quietly worked as hoped.
I am happy with this product.
Its value for money for me was not as good as I hoped because the rebate center says I did not send everything needed for the rebate. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A total NO-BRAINER. This is the one! Tuesday, September 25, 2007 Wiley from Oregon
I really don't need a wireless router. The D-Link wired router has proven that it has earned the very positive reviews that customers have provide here and at other online retailers.
The price, performance and reliability praise made this device an easy purchase choice. Now that I've had a chance to use it for an extended period, there is not much I can add. It works right out of the box and has not been the source of any frustration. Resets are a thing of the past.
The included set-up software is not really needed at all. Once you access the router's built-in management application with your browser, there isn't much that you can't figure out immediately. I'm happy...and that's that. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Completely adequate Sunday, September 02, 2007 jmkamil@yahoo.com from NJ
Not much to say about the D-Link small router. It has all the features I need (firewall, port forwarding, configuration options) and it's easy to use. I've had to reboot it occassionally but that may have been a problem with my provider and not the fault of the router. The only issue I have is that I would have preferred a 1-port router at a lower price since I have a 16-port switch that does the real connectivity distribution heavy lifting. Quick install, did not use the setup CD - no need to load extra junk onto PC. Downloaded the firmware updates and updated with out any problems. Would recommend this to anyone with some PC/networking skills. Was this review helpful?
