D-Link, an industry leader in networking, introduces another performance breakthrough in wireless connectivity - the AirPlus G DWL-G730AP Wireless Pocket Router/AP™. The DWL-G730AP is a portable and convenient wireless solution for the traveling business person delivering 802.11g wireless connectivity with a maximum wireless signal rate of up to 54Mbps*. Use it in conference rooms, hotel rooms, or even at hotspots.

The Wireless Pocket Router/AP might be small in size, but is huge in functionality. The DWL-G730AP supports multiple operation modes including: Access Point (AP) mode to create a wireless connection; Router mode to share an Internet connection; and Wireless Client mode to connect an existing wireless network. Easily switch between these modes by using the 3-way configuration switch located at the bottom.

In AP mode, the DWL-G730AP can be used to create a wireless network in a room where a single Ethernet port is provided. Now multiple wireless clients can connect to the network at the same time to share resources and files.

In Router mode, the DWL-G730AP can be used to share a single broadband Internet connection, such as in a hotel room. The internal DHCP server automatically assigns IP addresses to ensure everyone in the room can connect to the Internet. In addition, the DWL-G730AP supports VPN Pass-through and firewall features including Network Address Translation (NAT) and MAC filtering to protect your wireless network from malicious attacks.

When set in Wireless Client mode, the DWL-G730AP allows connection to an existing wireless network, without having to install complicated drivers or additional software. For added mobility, the DWL-G730AP can be powered over USB if power outlets are not available.

The Pocket Router/AP supports WPA-PSK to secure your wireless data communications. In AP mode, the DWL-G730AP adds support for 802.1x user authentication with an external RADIUS server. For setup and configuration the DWL-G730AP can be accessed via D-Link's user-friendly Web-based utility.

Easy to pack and convenient for traveling, the DWL-G730AP comes with an attractive traveling case which also provides accessories including cables and a power adapter. Increase productivity and enjoy the benefits of wireless connectivity while on the road with D-Link's Pocket Router/AP.

5 of 5 Great Little Travel W/L Router! Thursday, May 14, 2009
AZ from Phoenix, AZ

This is a great unit. I used it as a temporary at home when my regular w/l router went bad. It ran a bit warm so I didn't leave it always on. But performance was really good for a small unit without an external antenna.

5 of 5 DWL-G730AP - a great tool! Wednesday, February 18, 2009
Mark Hanley from Sun Praire, WI
This unit is unbelievably easy to use, small and easy to carry, and has as much power as much larger, more expensive units. If you travel, the size is perfect - and the case does a great job of protecting the unit. I facilitate training and many of the plants do not have multiple LAN ports in the conference rooms - this bridges that gap. I have had as many as 6 people using the unit with no apparent performance issues. Great device!!!

5 of 5 A jewel Wednesday, March 19, 2008
Ed Perlicz from Hallandale Beach, FL
Small(a must for travelers), set up was done in less than a minute if you follow the Quick Installation Guide instructions, works as it is supposed to. In my case, I chose WEP security, and logging into the secured router was very easy from both computers. Easy to hide under the desk, or a shelf, couldn't ask for more.

5 of 5 This router is great! Tuesday, January 22, 2008
db from Port Orange, FL
Easy to setup, it works as a 'private network' (in router mode) between my laptop and my camera's 'Eye-Fi' wireless SD memory card. Range and speed makes my job easier - No tethering to the camera!

5 of 5 excellent product Sunday, November 26, 2006
A Customer from Raleigh, NC
I've had this item for a year now and really love it. I use it when traveling as a wireless router. Many hotel rooms provide internet support, but few have wireless connections. Most have a wired connection, which means you're stuck at the desk with the connection. Now with this item I just plug the existing wired connection into the wireless router, and I'm free to roam the room with my laptop.

5 of 5 Great for an Apple! Sunday, September 18, 2005
A Customer from NC
I purchased a used eMac G4-700 without the wireless Airport...doesn't work with the Airport Extreme card (their latest version) and Apple doesn't make this part anymore. So now I have a network connection without running wires into the bonus room and when friends/family visit with their laptops, they have access to the broadband connection. Very affordable solution for compatibility to B and G networks.

5 of 5 Five star product Friday, August 19, 2005
A Customer from Springfield, VA
Technology is amazing. I was looking for an item to connect my VOIP phone adapter to the wifi home network, so that my cordless phone is close to the base, and I can use speaker on the base. Before making the purchase, I worry about the possible complicated configuration. When I receive the item, I was first impressed by the whole package, it is neat and compact, including everything needed on the road. I read the guide, there is nothing new there. Then I just set it at client mode, and plug in the power, connect to the VOIP phone adapter. 10 seconds later, I can make the phone call! I have not tired the other two modes. I am also wondering how to use it at any hotspot such as T-mobile. But, I can use cell phone anyway when I am on the road unless I want to make international calls through VOIP. Conclusion: highly recommended.

5 of 5 A very unique and original product Monday, January 03, 2005
George.Lee2 from NJ
I purchased it becausee it was cheap for an AP, but found out that it does a whole lot more than what I bargained for. The most unique feature is that it has a physical switch to make it a wireless router, an access point, or a bridge (client mode) to be used as a game adapter. In wireless router mode, the Ethernet port connects to your cable/DSL modem, and provides standard DHCP, NAT, and basic WiFi router features. In AP mode, the Ethernet port connects to an existing router, and acts as an access point, nothing fancy there either. In client mode, the Ethernet port connects to the Ethernet port of any device (straight cable), and joins an existing WiFi network. In each mode, the web configuration screens are different to reflect the respective features. Here we have one 802.11g device that's highly portable (or concealable) for 3"x2.5"x0.5", does 3 jobs with all required functions, and relatively cheap. Also, since there is only one Ethernet port, in router mode you cannot attach any local devices.

4 of 5 Good product for the money Tuesday, December 28, 2004
A Customer from Florham Park, NJ
First of all, I don't believe there is a reason why access points should cost more than wireless routers. This is a relatively low-cost 802.11g wireless access point with unique features. The physical switch allows you to enable this as a router in case you want that option, which is good for traveling and plugging into hotel's broadband connection. Also note that since there is no LAN port, configuration has to be done via the WAN port (so you better remember the IP address) or wirelessly. The reception is poor, perhaps because there is no antenna. For short-range usage (less than 500 sq ft), I consider this a good product.
