Don't get this card for Win XP 64-bit. They have no drivers and don't intend to furnish any. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works great - installation glitchy Wednesday, April 11, 2007 Ken from Glassboro, NJ
I received this item just before leaving for work and installed it according to the instructions. It would not work as they said it should. I shut down the computer and left it alone until I had time a few days later to work on it. Upon starting up it began to function as the instructions indicated and I was quickly able to connect to my home network which is also based on DLink products. Not sure why shutting down like that caused it to start working properly but I had tried a simple restart and that didn't do it -- maybe there is some small part missing from the printed instructions. Once in operation is works very well. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 I own several D-Link items-GREAT Friday, September 29, 2006 lawmom90 from Mayfield, Kentucky
The D-Link interface is quite simple, once you have mastered the basic idea of how wireless works and what order things are used in. I have this adapter in a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop. It is currently located about 25 feet and 3 walls from the router. It's still picking up. I have only had some slight problems with the configuration utility, but that may be related to my computer rather than the product. I cannot get the utility to open, but then again, I may have a hardware problem. This is a good, sturdy product that is reliable, so long as your network is working. I recommend it highly. 5 of 5 Never a problem. Great performance. Tuesday, November 22, 2005 Eric from Columbus, OH
Has been a great value & great performer. Highly recommend. Made me wish I had set up wireless sooner. Follow instructions for installation and search out some articles about how to make your network secure. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Outstanding product Saturday, October 15, 2005 J_Dubya from Arizona
Couldn't be happier with this product. Now only if I could get 108 Mbps connection which is not this item's fault. Superb reception and link quality from long distances; usually >90% from anywhere in my house or on my patio (up to 100' away) using the DI-624 router. Wish they could transfer this performance to their wireless pci cards (their DWL-G520 gets about 1/3 the reception or worse at the same location as this card). Easy to install/setup and great bundled price with DI-624. Got them for next to nothing after rebates and $25 additional discount from buy.com. I couldn't recommend a product more highly than this one. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Super product! Friday, January 16, 2004 TD from Tampa, FL
This card is an excellent buy, particularly now with the recent price drop and rebates! I've been using mine for about a month, and have not had one problem with it. It's always getting max signal strength and speed connecting to my DWL-2000AP access point ... no matter where I am in my house. Set-up was a snap, particularly with XP. It's just like being on a Cat5 cable...... Buy it! Was this review helpful?

When coupled with the D-Link DI-624 wireless router, this is a great card. Simple to setup, good range, and fast! Out of the box, it is standard 802.11g @ 54Mbps transfer. You must upgrade the driver to go 108Mbps--an easy task using the D-Link website. Take caution, if you can, that you don't get hardware version A--it is not 108Mbps upgradeable/capable. Likewise, the 108Mbps can only be achieved when all components of your network are 108Mbps capable, or the net works at the speed of the slowest user. I made some test transfers from my desktop Cat-5e hardwired to the routers, using my old D-Link 713P/DWL-650 (11Mbps) router/card and the new 624/DWL-G650. The 802.11G combination took a matter of seconds compared to minutes using the 802.11b system. I was also able to get good signals with the "G" when the "B" was not useable. If you are getting a new system (router/card), this is a SUPERB wireless card. Was this review helpful?

I'm using this card with a Linksys WRT54G router and it works fine. The Laptop is a Toshiba PIII 450. Range with this system covers my two story house completely and into my backyard. It comes with instructions to configure for Win XP. I set it up on Win98 SE with no problems other then to tell Windows where to find the drivers. I consistently post speeds at or close to 54 MBPS. I gave it a 4 for ease of use because I had to find the folders with the Win 98 drivers on the supplied CD versus the CD automatic installation with XP. If you have XP it should be 5's all around Was this review helpful?

I do wish this card was built into my laptop. I never take it out. I can use it for hotspots, work, and home, just fine. Weather it's 11b or 11g it will connect. I've had no hang ups with this card and would suggest it to others. Speed is not an issue since it is almost like you are connected via cable, but with out the restriction of movement. This card's setup and use is rather simple when you actually get into it. I am not sure about other wireless cards so much, but I know this one took little effort to get setup.
basically I plugged it into the only slot available on my laptop after I installed the drivers on the CD and rebooted and it was detected and installed automatically. Then I didn't have to do anything but configure it to work with my network. All this consists of is entering the name of your network, mine is "HRSwireless" and then the 128-bit WEP key (something you make up), and select the AP you want to conenct to (the one that says "HRSwireless" because that is my network's wireless access point. Then you are done and ready to surf the net. Was this review helpful?
