5 of 5 Works great, one minor annoyance Wednesday, July 25, 2007
A Customer from Bentonville, AR

Works great - great price. One annoyance. It beeps everytime I switch inputs. The instructions for turning off the beep don't seem to work - but everything else works great. It only comes with 2 cables, even though it is a 4 port KVM - but extra cables if you need more than 2 PCs hooked up.

1 of 5 Returned Friday, July 13, 2007
A Customer from Pittsburgh
This product does *not* work with a wheel mouse in any rational sense; I had to return this because of that single fact. It's quite interesting that they don't mention it, but it doesn't respond at all properly to a mouse with more than three standard buttons. I'm going to stay away from D-Link products from now on, though.

5 of 5 Easy easy easy Wednesday, June 27, 2007
Jeff VW from Oakhurst, NJ
Simply plugged it in and it was up and running. Great for a user (like me) who has no front USB plugs on their computer. Now I have 7 right on my desk! Makes hooking up any USB device a snap. I've tested with my 500gig external HD, camera and MP3 player, so far. All performed exactly as expected. HD data transfer is as fast as if the drive were directly connected. I recommend the product if you need such a device.

3 of 5 mouse problems Friday, June 22, 2007
A Customer from Loveland, CO
This 4-port switch is not bad, but I will probably remove it from my systems. The video is acceptable, but it looks somehow harsher than without the switch. My main problem is with the mouse. The scroll wheel doesn't scroll, but makes the mouse jump to the right. Sometimes the mouse cursor jumps to the right when I'm just moving it. It's possible these problems would be better if I were to reboot, but I have the switch on two servers, one of which has not been rebooted for 485 days (obviously *not* running Microsoft). I am unwilling to reboot to attempt to fix the mouse. I'll put this switch on the shelf, waiting for a less demanding application. Note: hidden away in the specs is the fact that this switch comes with two cables, not four.

4 of 5 great product for the price Wednesday, June 20, 2007
A Customer from Calhoun, LA
Works great straight out of the box. There are no USB ports, but I used a ps2/usb adapter and its working fine on my mouse. No problems. Great product.

3 of 5 good for no-frills use; fuzzy picture Wednesday, January 26, 2005
A Customer from brooklyn ny
this is fine for the heavy-duty home user who needs to switch between servers, but if you're using any high-quality graphics or high resolutions, look elsewhere. the video quality is quite degraded when going through this unit. it's fine for my linux servers in SXGA though.

5 of 5 Outstanding! Wednesday, July 28, 2004
Patrick from Londonderry, NH
I bought one of these with a little trepidation - how good could it be for the price, esp. with 2 KVM cables included? Well, it is awesome! It does not need a DC adapter; the included cables are very good; and the switch transmits even a 1280x1024x85Hz signal with almost unnoticeable image quality reduction. At lower resolutions like 1024x768, the picture is excellent. The keyboard hotkeys are very convenient, and in general the unit works exactly as well as I had hoped.
The only quibbles: the connectors are a tiny bit cheap-feeling. The connections for your 4 PCs are spread across the two long sides, while the console connections are on a short side; this makes it inconvenient to put the unit somewhere without a lot of surrounding room and cabling that is a little messy.
But for the price and the quality, these are small complaints. I would certainly recommend the DKVM-4K - it performs as well as the multi-hundred$$ KVMs at my company do, and it does not even need a DC adapter! One of my PCs also has "power on by keyboard" and this works through this unit also.

5 of 5 Great KVM switch! Wednesday, May 26, 2004
Madair from Salt Lake City
I was searching for an inexpensive solution to reduce the clutter of having multiple computers. I was thinking about the Linksys switch but my experience with Linksys products has not been the greatest. When I saw the D-Link switch I decided to give it a try since I have been very happy with my D-Link wireless card. I have only been using this switch for 2 weeks but have yet to have any problems. This switch worked flawlessly right out of the box with both Microsoft and Linux. The 2 cables that it came with were definitely an added bonus since you have to figure that a KVM cable is going to cost at least $10 each. All in all I figure that the price of the switch is a little misleading, since it does include 2 KVM cables, which are not included with any other brand I researched, the real price of the switch would be closer to $39. The main issue that I have seen with other KVM switches is the quality of the monitor resolution degrading, with this switch I have not had any quality problems. I would definitely recommend this product.
