3 of 5 Good but some shortcomings Saturday, October 18, 2008
    Rob from Seattle, WA

While using two computers this switch works great, but the switch will not allow me to have only one computer on. When I try, I have no video signal. Once I shut down and power both computers on, then it works. I also agree with another user that stated the video resolutions are limited. I wouldn't purchase this product again.

    4 of 5 Really a nice product Monday, October 23, 2006
    A Customer from arvada, CO
This is a cool little product for a good price. I was looking for this kind of product for less rate for a long time. I got an opportunity from Buy.com to get this product. Really it is easy to use (just plug and play). I would recommend if you are buying. This doesnt support USB.

    5 of 5 Simple KVM Friday, October 20, 2006
    lindemrm from Newton, Illinois
This swtich is really simple to install and use, I didn't read any instructions, but got it connected and working just fine. The only downside I've seen is that to switch from one machine to the other, I don't like the hotkey keystrokes that are available. You have to type at least three buttons to change between machines, ie ScrollLock, Scrolllock, 1 (or2). I just use the button on the switch which works fine, but isn't as convenient as say typing the control key twice or something would be.

5 of 5 GREAT PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE! Tuesday, October 17, 2006
    Steven from Philadelphia, PA
I got this about 2 weeks or so ago and it works great. First off, the cables are included, a big cost saving there! It switches between the computers quickly with little to no lag of the controls between switches. You can boot either computer up at anytime and the mouse and keyboard will work, no need to have to switch to the booting computer to recognize the mouse and keyboard. The picture is just as good as if I would have a straight connection. My current resolution is 1152x864 (no problems). I had a much more expensive KVM before and I see no difference in performance, as a matter of fact, the D-Link is faster between switches than the more expensive one. Overall, it is worth the little money you pay for this device. The are only 2 options that could be improved, the manual switching button is a little on the small size and has to be pushed firmly to switch. A big button on top would be better, but not a big deal. You always have the quick keys which is what I use most. The second is that the connector to the monitor is on the front of the KVM which can make it a little awkard to mount or place on desktop, it should be on the back with the rest of the cables, but again, not a big deal. You won't be disapointed.

Works great for my two HP pc's, just plug & play, as long as I used regular mouse or track ball, the wireless won't work.

4 of 5 good lost-cost solution to desktop clutter Tuesday, April 25, 2006
Dennis Flanagan from East Greenwich, RI
I installed this products and was using it successfully within few minutes. There is an annoying problem switching to my ThinkPad which is attached via a port replicator. I have to reset the keyboard and mouse. But this is far better than two keyboard/mouse pairs.

5 of 5 Excellent performance for the price Saturday, January 21, 2006
    Rich from Goleta, CA
I had a difficult arrangement to make work. My Microsoft wireless keyboard was PS2, while the wireless mouse was USB. My work computer was USB only (no PS2 ports). Despite this combo, I was able to get all of the computers working together with the Dlink KVM switch. I tried to same thing with another KVM switch with no luck. I converted the wireless mouse to PS2 with a USB/PS2 adapter plug and used an Airlink101 PS2 keyboard/mouse converter cable to USB for the second computer. With this arrangement everything worked. I am very pleased with this KVM switch.

5 of 5 simply nice utility Wednesday, January 04, 2006
Krika from Salt Lake City, UTAH
Great product for very cheap. I was planning to buy another monitor for my other CPU but with this 'less than $10' product I can connect both my CPUs to the same monitor and its just 3-clicks to swap between the two.

5 of 5 Good Switch at very cheap price. Friday, December 23, 2005
    A Customer from Beaverton, OR
Great product to have if you want to share one monitor, keyboard and mouse with 2 computers. Installation in seconds and no need to install any software. Hot key to switch between computers. The switch is worked well with my HP desktop and IBM laptop with docking station.

5 of 5 Easy to install and works great! Monday, December 19, 2005
    A Customer from Sycamore IL
I plugged in my usb mouse, usb keyboard (using ps2 adaptors) and monitor, then plugged the attached cables to both computers and turned them on. The switch works great - just hit "scroll lock - scroll lock" and then either 1 or 2 to switch back and forth. Buy.com was unbelievably fast with the shipping!! I ordered it Tuesday afternoon and it was on my doorstep on Thursday afternoon - that's with the standard free shipping!! This was my first buy.com order, but it definitely won't be my last!

    5 of 5 Works Great! Monday, December 19, 2005
    A Customer from New Hampshire
I was having problems with my Linksys KVM switch. So I decided to give this switch a try. So far it has worked without any flaws. I think part of the problem with Linksys switch was that wires would come loose; with the D-link I do not have that problem as the cables that go to the two computers are attached to the unit. Further, these cables are pretty long so I was able to run them cleanly through my workstation. Finally, even though the D-link instructions state that you need PS/2 keyboard and mouse for the unit to work, for me it does work with a USB mouse (I already had an adapter which allows my USB mouse to fit into a PS/2 port). Very happy so far!

5 of 5 Great and Compact solution, but... Monday, November 28, 2005
    Cman from East Coast, US
This lightweight KVM switch is easy to use, compact, and can be hidden anywhere out of the way so as to not take up too much desktop space. It performs very well with traditional solutions such as wired mice and keyboards (PS/2). Adding a USB mouse was not a problem, however, a USB keyboard proved to be a complication for me. Plus, switching to a wireless system such as a mouse, also proved to be problematic for when I would switch to the second computer then came back, I would lose mouse functionality and I would have to reboot the system. So like I said, great performer with traditional equipment, but be warned if you want to go wireless. Maybe you'll have better luck than I did.

5 of 5 Great KVM Switch!! Monday, October 03, 2005
    Manu Arora from New Jersey
I was in the market for an inexpensive KVM switch and this is really great. Its a great value for your money with the mail in rebate and all. The high end graphics are a little shaky but the switch worked right out the box. Works well with Windows and Linux. But overall its an exceptional value considering the cables are included. Every other one I checked, the cables are seperate. Would highly recommend it.

5 of 5 Great KVM switch Friday, September 02, 2005
    Alex K from Philadelphia, PA
I have never used KVM switches before. After doing some research on that topic I decided to try DKVM-2K. I have two boxes; one is running Win XP another is Debian Linux. The switch works perfectly. I do not have any problems with the mouse (Msft Optical Trackball) or the keyboard. It is possible to switch between machines via Hot Buttons, which is very convenient. Overall I would recommend buying this switch if you have two machines to control without having to have two monitors, mice and keyboards.

    5 of 5 A nice piece of gear Wednesday, July 20, 2005
    Bill from Glendale California
This was very easy to hook up and use. I am using it with a flat panel monitor in Analog VGA mode, one computer running Windows XP and an older computer running Windows 98SE - and the KVM switch works fine. You can quickly switch between either computer by using the little button on the front of the KVM or using three strokes on the keyboard. There is a couple of seconds of black as it switches over. It has a "scanning" feature you can activate where it automatically alternates between the computers every 10 seconds. What it does not mention in the instuctions is that you have to press the "S" key a second time to stop the scanning and use the keyboard. Once I figured that out I was a happy camper.

    5 of 5 Great Product Friday, June 24, 2005
    A Customer from Oakland,CA
This switch does exactly what it claims to do. The occasional mouse lockup is easily cleared by using "Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + M" as per instructions. The Buy.com service was superb. I ordered the switch on a Monday evening and it was on my doorstep on Thursday evening - even with my opting for the free budget shipping by FedEx ground!

5 of 5 Excellent KVM Switch Thursday, June 23, 2005
    Todd from Goldsboro, NC
Works perfect and connections are simple. Not built "flimsy" like others I've used in the past, this one is built to last a long time. DLink makes an excellent product and did a great job with this switch as well. Easy to use and works flawlessley.

    4 of 5 Great Buy Thursday, June 09, 2005
    Mike from Huntington Beach, CA
I mainly bought this to clear up some desktop space and a big plus was its low price. Its very easy to set up and use. There is one minor problem that I have from time to time; my mouse some times losses functionality (ie. scrolling and extra mouse buttons). I'm using a logitech MX 700 wireless mouse. Other than that, its been a great use and a good bargain.

Overall excellent deal. Box works great. Have one comp running win NT and one running win ME, no problems. On occasion, you have to readjust the mouse by pressing ctrl+scroll+m, but this is minor. Overall, has been running non stop for weeks, without hitch

4 of 5 great way to manage two computers with one keyboar Saturday, March 05, 2005
    A Customer from Houston, TX
This switch is fantastic. It does not require any drivers. Set up was breeze on windows XP. I just connected cables according to instructions and it was working. I use it with my home desktop and work laptop (when I work from home). Only complain I have is it doesnt pick up my laptop screen resolution. No matter what I do, my laptop resolution can not go beyond 1024X768, my desktop resolution is always fine at 1280x1024, but thats a minor thing.

4 of 5 Works great as long as both computers are running Monday, January 17, 2005
    Dan from Deerfield, Illinois
This device is great for a basic KVM as long as both computers are running Windows. If one computer is in MSDOS mode or is using a different operating system, the mouse will fail to come up when switching computers and will not come back unless both computers are rebooted in Windows mode. So, for most people's purposes, it will work fine. But if you're planning to use this while rebuilding another machine, you're likely to be frustrated by the mouse failures.

    5 of 5 Excellent Product Thursday, December 16, 2004
    Kathy from Idaho
This KVM switch is ideal for the regular user with more than one computer. I don't care much for docking stations and don't have room for one either. I wanted to hook up my IBM ThinkPad laptop to my full-sized keyboard, monitor and mouse but wanted to access my Dell desktop too. This switch was the ticket. It is the answer to lack of space in my office. Installation was five minutes max and a total no-brainer. You can tuck this piece of hardware away and by hitting Scroll Lock twice and the number 1 or 2 you toggle between both computers. VERY SWEET!

    4 of 5 Works well. Friday, December 03, 2004
    brd from Wichita, KS
This is a good product. Works with my wirelss Logitech KB & Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse. The Compaq Deskpro SFF P2-450 takes a while for mouse to start working. I have to wait about 5 seconds before I can use the mouse. May have something to do with IRQ not working right on this machine. Btw, this product is not meant to be kept on the desk next to comp. It has cables connected to front and back. I guess all others similar KVM switches are built this way. Overall, this is a good product for the price. ( try Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + M if mouse/kb don't work or stop responding after the switch. )

    5 of 5 D-Link is D-Rule Friday, August 13, 2004
    wawhite from Ashtabula, OH
I received the D-Link DKVM-2K on Aug. 12, 2004 from Buy.com and installed it in about 15 minutes. Connection was easy and everthing is marked to plug and play. The unit works excellently and the key strokes (scroll lock twice and then 1 or 2) switch the pc's perfectly! What is nice about this is you can 'hide' this little gem under the desk with all the cables out-of-sight. I used a couple of plastic wire ties to hold everything together for security... no buttons to push :) What a great little device... I now can use my 18" LCD with 2 PC's... thanks D-Link.
