I have been using the DWL-2100AP sucessfully as an access point for well over a year and am extremely pleased by it's performance and range in that capacity. However, that's not why I purchased the DWL-2100AP in the first place. I purchased the DWL-2100AP to use as a client to a DI-624 router. I never got that to work acceptably despite several calls to D-Link support. In summary, I have come to respect the DWL-2100AP as a good product when using it as an Access Point, but my experience with it in client mode was not favorable. Was this review helpful?

I configured the AP as a wireless client, bridging an area of my new house that was not wired. To it I have connected a four port hub. Setup was very easy. It discovered the wireless router, and I only needed to add the WEP key. Performance is outstanding. Its almost as fast as my wired computers. I definitely recommend it as a wireless client. The DWL-2100AP will run in several different modes. The only one I tried (because it was the only one I needed) was as a wireless repeater to my DI-624 wireless router.
Installing the device was difficult, documentation is minimal, and once everything was set up it did nothing to improve my signal. I verified proper set up with dlink support.
It may be a good value for use as something other than a repeater; however, as a repeater it just didn't work. Was this review helpful?
