Although I write up products as I see them and have noticed that buy.com does NOT post some of my wisdom, this one will probably get through because the DLink Access Point (AP) deserves the highest rating. It is much more compact (both the unit and the power supply) than the Brand "L" it is replacing. Where remote computers reported a "very low" signal with the "L", they report "good" with the DLink. Setup was a short, easy task using the wizard. The AP is being used to share an Internet connection (WinXP ICS). Product is highly recommended for those requiring an AP rather than a router. 5 of 5 Very pleased Monday, November 13, 2006 A Customer from San Francisco, CA
I found this product easy to use and setup however I'm an experianced Tech so I didn't use any install wizards. What I really like is the features of this product. It has the ability to become a DHCP server which give you the opertunity to create a subnet that won't cross over into your wired network if that is your desire. In addition you can MAC filter your clients for additional security and change the strength of the antenna signal. I have found the Dlink product seem to provide the widest signal range over some of it's competitors. Was this review helpful?

Just added this device because I didn't want to swap out my wired router because my cable access is in a far corner of the basement not in a great location for a wireless transmitter. I easily added the device to our wired network in about 10 minutes. It reaches all corners of our house and basement with a good signal and an excellent signal in about 80% of the house. The unit was easy to configure. I also got the range extender and both are functioning fine. Was this review helpful?

I purchased the DWL-G700AP with the intention of using it as a wireless client for my ethernet enabled desktop PC. To my dismay, the product does not support client mode (i.e., the ability to log-into a wireless network as a wireless client). This device is only intended to hook to a router and serve as a wireless access point for other wireless clients.
The quick set-up instructions were very confusing. I eventually figured out that you need to go into network setup on your PC and set up a static lan address, DNS server, etc.
I'm sure the value and performance may be good if the product was used as intended so I've set my ratings in the neutral range. Was this review helpful?
