1 of 5 This is a piece of junk. I couldn't make a use of. Tuesday, November 27, 2007 kamal.hage from Dedham MA
The product is very cheap and it doesn't work no matter what.

4 of 5 So-so wireless adapter... Sunday, November 25, 2007 A Customer from San Antonio, Texas
This is a good wireless adapter for desktops or for laptops. I have to say though, it is really cheap feeling and the mount/stand is very crummy. Don't expect much for it but at the deal I for for it, it wasn't bad. Was this review helpful?

Easy to set up, and as long as you are within range, the product works fine. Unfortunately, the range is disappointing. Mine is about 27 ft. from the router in an adjoining room on the same floor, and the signal is iffy. I had to install a home-built antenna booster for my router in order maintain a reliable connection:http://www.freeantennas.com/projects/template2/index.html.
BTW, try that out if you have range problems. Costs nothing to make and works great.
I originally bought the adapter in August from Buy.com for 24.99, and at that price, it is a fine value. At today's price of 48.99, i expect there are better choices available. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Problems w/ Vista Friday, September 07, 2007 A Customer from San Jose, CA
I am sure other reviews have covered this item. I would like to reiterate that the drivers sent w/ this adapter do not support Vista. I had to hack my way through a driver I found in some foreign site for it to work. I definitely would not recommend this product. You are better off paying a few dollars more to purchase a product from Linkysys or another vendor that explicitly callout Vista. Unless ofcourse you enjoy spending a lot of time searching and installing a hacked driver. Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Died in first month Monday, August 20, 2007 jkoenig from Long Island, NY
I bought this to go wireless on my Series 2 TiVo. Initial set up was smooth. It was working fine and then, after about the first month, it died. When I contacted Buy.com, I was told I was past their 14 day return / exchange limit. They gave me a phone # for D-Link. Multiple phone calls and web pages later, I have a RMA to return it. I'll get it in the mail tomorrow. The TiVo was plugged into a UPS (which provides surge protection as well). I've had no problems with the cable box (or other equipment) connected to said UPS. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar experience? Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 great value after rebate Sunday, August 19, 2007 A Customer from detroit, mi
Purchased this as an attempt to stream video from a wireless desktop & router downstairs to a laptop hooked up to the tv upstairs (approx 15ft away). Both wireless connections are 802.11g & the result was occassional choppy video, which was enough to ruin a good film. I know I was pushing the limits attempting to stream video using 3 wireless devices, but it almost worked. This adapter works fine in normal setups & was very easy to install. Would be nicer if it was 108Mbps, but for the price after rebate it is a great product. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 good product Tuesday, August 14, 2007 A Customer from Houston, Texas
easily installed. strong received signal, better than the other Wireless USB Adapter (54Mbps) I just bought Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Seems to work for Tivo Monday, August 13, 2007 weston.clark from Castro Valley, CA
I recently upgraded my Tivo to a series 2 machine. This new box allows an internet connection for various purposes. I used to run a wireless phone connection to allow the series 1 to call up for the schedule updates. I looked forward to getting rid of that.
My problem is that even though the wireless router is in the same house, it is not on the same floor, and in the living room I get a pretty weak signal.
Tivo lets you download some computer software to transfer recorded shows to your PC. Unfortunately, the signal is not reliable or strong enough to transfer shows effectively.
That said, my broadcast schedule is being update regularly and without complaint, so apparently the connection stays up long enough often enough for this to work. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Easy to setup but poor performance Monday, August 06, 2007 A Customer from Henderson, NV
I had the adapter working in about 15 minutes out of the box. However, performance was mediocre at best. Finally, I decided to get a PCMCIA adapter instead and it works MUCH better. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good product Thursday, July 19, 2007 Raghu from Gurnee, IL
This is good product for a very good price with very easy installation. But it definitely adds up to the clutter of wires behind the desktop. Signal is pretty good, but it's not streaming a video channel at all. I tweaked the media player connection setting but still wouldn't work. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Hardware version: B1 Tuesday, July 17, 2007 A Customer from Palo Alto, CA
For those thinking this might be a more recent version of this adapter, which will work with a TiVo, sorry - I just got mine (ordered on July 10th 2007) and it is the old B1. Was this review helpful?

2 of 5 i am dissappointed with this card Thursday, June 14, 2007 A Customer from san jose, ca
The main reason I am disappointed is that this card doesn't work for me from day 1. I bought it for my desktop. My wireless router is at first floor and my desktop is at 2nd floor. The link quality I get is fairly good, but the signal strength is poor. I don't understand the difference between these two, but the connection keeps getting dropped. If I use my laptop with its own builtin wireless card at the very same location, the connection is perfect. So it is not really the issue with router. Then I tried plugging in this card to my laptop as well and move around in the house. I found the connection is only ok when I am at the same level.

5 of 5 Works Great right out the box Saturday, June 09, 2007 A Customer from Southside, AL
My son is using the D-Link on a computer in his bedroom. He brags about how fast it is and how easy it was for him to install. As always, Buy.com had great pricing and shipping. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Excellent value, Easy to Use Monday, June 04, 2007 A Customer from Edmond, OK
This wireless adapter was easy to set up and easy to use. I expected a better range and signal strength, but it works and provides the needed performance. All in all, it is a good value for the price. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Good product with stability issues Saturday, June 02, 2007 A Customer from Prosper, TX
Upgraded from a 802.11b DWL-122 to this wireless g model. Like its improved speed, desk top physical profile, ease of operation, and good reception. However, it's somewhat unstable and randomly drops off line. Updating the driver from the mfr support site reduced the problem significantly but did not totally eliminate it. Mfrs should test and fix their drivers before marketing. (System: Athlon 64 3200, Windows XP Pro linked to 2Wire 2700HG-B router) Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Not bad Tuesday, May 29, 2007 A Customer from Marlboro, NJ
It's cheap and easy to setup. However it didn't out-perform my three years old Wireless-B adaptor. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Cranky ! Tuesday, May 29, 2007 A Customer from Niles, IL
Installed this in a computer that previously had a Dlink card with other drivers, perhaps that's the source of problems. Install is a snap. Occasionally we have difficulty recognizing and connecting to the network. This is an OK item, but don't choose for a critical application or PC. Was this review helpful?
0 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 1 of 5 Donot buy this If you have Windows VISTA Thursday, May 24, 2007 A Customer from greenbelt,md
I bought this two months back for a VISTA desktop. VISTA didn't recognize and the driver supplied failed to run. I called Dlink twice. I emailed about 10 times. Each time I got the standard answer,"Dlink is currently working on the driver". If D link can make a driver for DWL G122 , I don't see whats the big deal for G120. Also I have tried all the workarounds , but none is helping. One of the driver came close to be working with VISTA. But VISTA complained about the driver being a 32 bit one.
My suggestion to all , donot buy this if you are palnning to use this one with VISTA. Either Microsoft has to fix the problem or Dlink create should new driver. Check for yourself by searching in GOOGLE with the following phase "DWL G120 VIST driver problem". Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Works GREAT with Tivo. Tuesday, May 22, 2007 ZRF from Seattle, WA
Contrary to the other reviews, it worked just fine with my Tivo. Even though the box said B1, which Tivo supposedly doesn't support, it worked like a charm. Becuase of price (FREE with Google Checkout), I would recommend it to anyone looking for a Tivo wireless adapter. Was this review helpful?
0 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 2 of 5 Meh... better options available Wednesday, May 02, 2007 Scott from NY, NY
Easy to set up but middling performance.
Dropped the signal far too often, across all channels. Averaged 24mbps typically, even with clear line-of-sight between itself and the router (approx 25 feet). Had better speed and reliability with my old Hawking Tech PCI wireless card. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 D-Link DWL-G120 Friday, April 13, 2007 A Customer from Crystal Lake, Illinois
Outstanding product! Easy to install with the USB connection and the performance is better than I expected. I am now able to access the net from my basement with my router located on the 2nd floor. A great buy and fantastic service by buy.com Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Not completely compatible with Vista Thursday, April 12, 2007 A Customer from St. Louis, MO
I recently bought a new desktop with Vista, then I bought this wireless adapter to work with it. This adapter works fine, find a signal immediately, and pretty steady. But when I want to shut down the computer after installing the adapter, the computer just responded with a blue screen saying some stupid unknown factor caused a problem, and then it restarted. Basically I cannot shut down my computer now, it kept restarting. Well, I can live with that, I just put it into sleep mode. In a word, this adapter is OK, but Vista sucks! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 good quality and quick shipping! Wednesday, April 11, 2007 A Customer from VA
worth buying, hope the rebate come in time too. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Not bad Wednesday, April 11, 2007 A Customer from Cortland, ny
It does the job, though not as compact as other devices. Also, it will only provide WPA security with windows XP or vista. WEP security is available with other versions of windows. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Affordable wireless option Tuesday, April 10, 2007 Kersi from Olympia, WA
Nice and simple - works great for computers missing a built in wireless connnection. Signal reception is decent (my computer sits pretty close to the router, so it is not really a stress test) - I had no problems in getting to 54Mbps (802.11g mode).
To get the full network bandwidth offered by many of today's ISP's :: you must have a USB 2.0 port for making this device's connection to the computer. Sadly my computer is old, and I was limited to USB 1.1
Note: WEP settings work fine. If you want to use the more secure WPA-PSK / TKIP modes of operation, then you will need to use Windows OS (XP/Vista) to configure your various network settings. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent Tuesday, April 10, 2007 jeff from atlanta, ga

5 of 5 good value Thursday, April 05, 2007 t from tokyo, japan
great price, quick delivery, easy install, no performance issues to date... it seems to do well with my wireless system, credit-card-sized form factor isn't a problem for me... all in all a good value Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good product Wednesday, March 28, 2007 William from IN
I have been using this product for seven months and faced only minor problems. A couple of times I had to restart my computer because it hung up. Also, the speed would sometimes randomly drop to 24Mbps which is not really a issue for me because I only have a 3Mbps internet connection. However for the current price, its a steal. I would recommend this USB adapter to anyone. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Never have gotten a good connection Tuesday, March 27, 2007 Steve from Phoenix, AZ
I bought this to upgrade a stationary laptop that had a D-link PC card to wireless "G" speed. At not more than 20 feet I can't get a signal strong enough to use the laptop reliably. I went back to the PC card and get 100% link. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 poor support and performance Sunday, March 25, 2007 Gary from Oneida,NY
First, I have bought many GREAT items (including several D-Link)from Buy.com and never had a complaint before. I own a D-Link DWL-G122 and get a good, stable signal. When I try this G120 in the same location, it is very weak and the signal strength jumps up and down like a drunk monkey. I am sure it would work much better if I could get a new driver. The 'newest' driver at their website says "Version 1.12" but it is 1.0.5 (the same one that came with the unit). I have told their support 7 times to see for themselves, but they keep saying I am doing something wrong. I have read others say the same thing on other sites. I have hardware version B1. 5 of 5 Very Impressed Friday, March 23, 2007 A Customer from New Hampton, Iowa
Buy.com is an excellent website for computer hardware. They give you all the information you need. I am extremely impressed with my purchase. The DWL-G120 D-Link AirPlus Extreme worked exactly as advertised at Buy.com. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very good product. Thursday, March 22, 2007 A Customer from Dublin, NH
I have been very pleased with this product. I bought it for my desktop to connect wirelessly to a router located 200' or so from my house. The signal is quite weak, but certainly usable (1-24Mbps). The adapter works very well.
The adjustable antenna is wonderful. The 6' cable makes it possible to locate the adapter high up on a shelf which significantly increases the signal. I would recommend this product to anyone. Was this review helpful?

Just now ordering my second one for another system. The first one I put on a small form factor (breadbox size) computer with too little room inside to add a wireless card. Works great, and I get solid 54 Mbps connections with my D-Link wireless router anywhere in my four-room apartment. Antenna cable is plenty long enough to place it in any convenient place for best link. Installation was a breeze, no problems of any kind over the several months I've been using it. Must say I have always been well satisfied with D-Link products. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Speed kept dropping down to 24 mbps Saturday, March 17, 2007 A Customer from Lakeville, MN
Maybe I just got a dud. The speed on mine kept dropping down to 24 mpbs. I kept moving the adapter was until it was within 1 foot of the router, still did not solve the problem. Replaced the USB card with an internal PCI card and my speed shot up to 56 mbps.

5 of 5 I received version B1 which DOES NOT work with TIV Friday, March 16, 2007 A Customer from San Diego, CA
I read the reviews and it seemed that it should work with my Tivo Series 2. Unfortunately, the version I received is hardware version B1 which does not seem to work (confirmed by Tivo website).
Gonna return. Was this review helpful?
2 of 5 Good for computer. BAD for TiVo Tuesday, March 13, 2007 Chad in Fresno from Fresno, CA
Okay. First of I'd like to say that my review of this item is from the perspective of someone attempting to make it work on TiVo. Ultimately, this revision of the card simply DID NOT work well in that respect. TiVo does recognize the the device, and allows you to use it on the network. However, it only recognizes it as an 802.11b device, and will not support the device in WPA mode. Also, there is clearly a problem with TiVo's driver for this device because anytime I used the network for an extended period of time, tivo would spontaneously reboot. Several times a day.
However, when I connected this device to my PC, it worked like a champ. Great range when used with my laptop. If you are planning on using this with your computer, things will be fine. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent value Tuesday, March 13, 2007 MRH from Pittsburgh, PA
USB wireless adapter works very well with my Dell laptop, had no issues with installing the drivers or getting it to access the network. My only issue is that it's on a cord and the adapter looks like a Star Trek original series communicator, it's bulkier than it needs to be. Other models are one small hard unit that plugs into the USB port, this model works very well, but the fact that it's on a cord and its size is an issue. If the price is right go for it, you won't be disappointed. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great for Series 2 Tivo Saturday, March 10, 2007 A Customer from Austin, Texas
A great value. Received it quickly and plugged it into my Series 2 Tivo and after rebooting the Tivo, it was recognized and configured right away. Signal strength looks good. A good choice to replace my DWL-122 which didn't have the USB cable (plugged directly into the USB port like a flash drive) and I accidently bent in half while moving my Tivo and setting it back down wrong. Overall, a happy customer. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 awesome product Monday, March 05, 2007 My knowledge level about these devices is medum. from texas
Pros:
I have been using this for two months and it worked flawlessly to date. It detects even weaker signals.
Has an expandable antenna and a sleek design. I have a built in wifi for my laptop. But this device when plugged in detects more network connections than the wifi itself. I would certainly recommend this without any restrictions.
Cons: Software that comes with the product is not simple. It took me a while to figure out how to select the options. The user manual could have been more descriptive.
This is not a plug and play device. It comes with a driver and a software to run this. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 GREAT BARGIN FOR YOU NEW TIVO OWNERS Friday, March 02, 2007 Guy from CA
I saw the D-link adapter for a good price. IT WORKS GREAT!
Told my friend about it and he did not want to order it and have to wait for it to arrive so he went out and got it at Fry's.
He bought the newer version of this adapter(with the pretty blue lights!) SURPRISE, SURPRISE, the newer version does not work and is not certified to work with Tivo. So be careful and make sure you purchase this model! Was this review helpful?
