<p> Package showed up quickly and undamaged and hooked up nicely. I had some issues with my audio. At times it works fine, others not at all. More annoying was when I would hear stuff happening on the first computer even when I was switched to the second. </p>
<p> Tech support is completely worthless. The number in the manual is actually fake. It does not go to tech support, it goes to a sex chat hotline. I suppose some of the ladies may have been able to help me, but I hung up after the message started calling me rather nasty things. Try 1-877-453-5465 if you don't believe me. It is also listed here http://support.dlink.com/contact/ticket.asp?model=KVM%2D121 </P>
<p> Email support was not much better. They simply told me to buy new speakers. Right, I will scrap my name brand $200 system because a crappy little part does not function correctly. They also refused to comment on the fake support number. </p>
<p> I got the problem fixed luckily and it has worked fine since. Sometimes I need to reboot when the mouse and keyboard fail to recognize. </p>
<p> In all, a decent buy, if it works out of the box for you. God help you if you have to call in support for this thing. </p> Was this review helpful?
1 of 5 Good Price Terrible Tech Support Thursday, January 17, 2008 jimlake2@yahoo.com from Binghamton, NY
The product installed easily and worked well until the audio quit working completely after less than a month. It's definitely the switch or the cabling to the switch because the audio works fine plugged directly into my computer. <br><br>
The only reason I purchased the switch was to upgrade my older KVM switch to one that had audio, so I was quite disappointed. I can not return it to Buy.com because I've had it more than 14 days. I will see what satisfaction I can get from D-Link. I originally rated it a 4 for value, because for the price I paid it's still a very inexpensive KVM switch and all the other features are still working. However, I have downgraded the value to a 3 because of the frustration I have encountered dealing with D-Link's tech support as detailed below. I have downgraded the performance to a 2, because it is supposed to support audio switching and it doesn't. However, it does work effectively to switch the keyboard, mouse and monitor. <br><br>
I have tried without success to obtain a return authorization from D-Link. My first contact was via e-mail and I described the problem as I have above. I was assigned a case number and told to call their 800 tech support number. Over a period of five days I called repeatedly at all hours of the day and could not get through to anyone in tech support. I sent a reply e-mail asking if there was a specific extension to which I could be directed. The tech responded to my e-mail stating they had been having phone problems, try again. <br><br>
I waited a couple of weeks in hopes that their "phone problems" would be resolved and tried again. On my next attempt I spent approximately 20 minutes on the phone working my way through their menu tree and waiting on hold before speaking to a tech. I told him I had a case id number and gave that to him. I spent 10 minutes verifying with him what I had already reported in the original e-mail I sent. He gave me a new number. I read the number back to him and he verified it. I asked him what I was supposed to do with that number. He told me I had to visit their website and input the number to receive further instructions. <br><br>
That seemed like just another hurdle for the consumer but I complied. I visited rma.dlink.com and input the number provided along with my phone number and received the following message - "The Case ID you provided was not found in our records" I double checked the number and tried again with the same results prompting a third e-mail to tech support. Today I received this reply, "Upon review of your concerns, it is advisable to inform that unfortunately this Case ID was not completed correctly for the RMA to occur. Call our Tech Support Dept. at 1(800)326-1688 for our third level support." <br><br>
They have won the battle because I am unwilling to spend any more time trying to replace this defective product. However, it's unlikely I will purchase a D-Link product of any kind again.

4 of 5 D-Link KVM switch Saturday, December 22, 2007 A Customer from Port Angeles, WA
Good price. Nice to get that extra monitor off my desk. Haven't been able to get my wireless mouse to work with it, but may experiment around with it some more. My main computer has a 2-monitor setup, which I was able to get to work with this. It did take some trial and error to figure out which monitor plug in where, though. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Nice KVM for a reasonable price Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Tik from Poughkeepsie, NY
This switch provided all the features I needed to keep my both PCs (desktop and a laptop with a docking station) controllable by one set of keyboard, monitor and mouse. Ordered on Tuesday, received it by Friday, the set-up took about 10 minutes. Very easy to use. You can control the switch in both ways - with a button on the switch, or with shortcut keys on the keyboard, which makes it possible to place the switch somewhere behind the pc/monitor, where you can hide the numerous wires coming in-and-out of the switch.
As for performance - sometimes I am having problems to control the mouse on the laptop when I am switching to the desktop, and then back to the laptop.. but, I think that's rather an issue with my laptop external mouse driver than the switch itself.. So, overall, I'll say this device certainly worth the money and makes the life easier than controlling two keyboards, mice, and most important - two monitors.. Was this review helpful?

Works well, easy to install. Great value for the price as all cables are included (except PS2 to USB adapter depending on keyboard and mouse connectors you have). Also has audio port which other units do not have. I wished they put all the ports on the same side of the unit for cleaner set up , but in the end it did not matter as I put the unit behind the computer on the floor and never touch it, as I switch between the two computers using the softkeys. 1 of 2 customers found this review helpful. 3 of 5 Great price, but just ok Monday, February 26, 2007 Mike from Indianapolis
The price is right, but it's not as nice as some other switches I've used. For one thing, the keyboard, mouse, and video inputs are on one side, and the 2 outputs are on the opposite side. It makes for a very messy desk. If you turn it sideways, you can't access the button to switch or see the indicator. (You can use a keyboard hot key to switch, though, so you could hide it altogether if you don't care about seeing the indicator...) The other problem I had was that one of my PC's stopped recognizing the keyboard and mouse after the switch had been set to the other computer for an extended time. The video still switched, but I had no control. This happened once early on, and has not happened since, so it may have just been a fluke. Bottom line is, for $20 (after rebate), you really can't go too wrong. It works, even if it's not pretty... Was this review helpful?
