1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Looking for a UPS? -BUY THIS ONE!!!!!! Saturday, October 25, 2008 A Customer from Hanoverton, OH
You can't get any better than this CyberPower UPS - it has everything! It will tell you your input voltage and frequency, and your output voltage, frequency, and KiloWatts. Also, the AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulation) kicks in below 105 volts to ensure your units don't suffer from "brown out" syndrome, or other heavily loaded circuit happenings. I believe this is an active system with the battery between the inlet and outlets, but am not sure. It works perfectly though! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great system Saturday, October 04, 2008 Bart from Davenport, IA
upgraded a smaller cyberpower unit I had on my entertainment center, 46" LCD, CD player, Cable DVR, PS3 and Receiver. Previous system couldn't handle receiver at full volume. Put this one in, cranked up the volume and watched the LCD display tell me what percent of the power was being used. I recommend it for home entertainment of computers Was this review helpful?

I've been using APC UPS for many, many years (since the early 90s) and I've never questioned their performance or value...until now. Not only does this UPS outperform any APC product based on features and capacity, it also smashes them on price. For the same amount of money, I can get twice as many features (including the way cool LCD display) and three times the runtime!
If you purchase a large number of UPSs like I do, you owe it to yourself and your employer to at least check this one out. Highly Recommended! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great UPS Friday, September 05, 2008 A Customer from LaGrange, GA
Does what it's supposed to do. Don't expect it to last quite as long as the advertised time but knew that before buying - none of 'em do. Like others have mentioned, status window is very useful. It's 'heavy' but, with this battery technology, time is directly proportional to weight.
Have had it about a year. It's made it through numerous ~1-5 second outages and a couple of multi-hour outages. One outage was really about 30-40 in an hour - thought the relay (it's loud) was going to blow but it didn't. Rural electric co. must have been training a new worker that day.
Don't use the s/w so can't comment on it. Under Windows, I usually configure the power options for 20 minutes monitor off and 45 minutes system standby. In standby, the mid-size pc consumes ~5 watts so UPS will effectively last many hours. Two 20" lcds are attached to a second one.
When on battery power, the audible alarm is annoying. Good to have the notification but wish there was a button to silence it. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 As advertised!! Monday, August 18, 2008 Tom from Blythewood, SC
UPS unit was exactly as advertised; took 10 minutes to install and works great. Just "plug-n-play, no need to install any software with XP Pro.
Price was great! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Very Simple and Easy UPS to setup Wednesday, August 13, 2008 A Customer from Fort Worth TX
I needed to replace a 4 year old APC 1500va UPS and found that this CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD UPS 1500VA cost less than the replacement batteries on my old APC unit. My only complaint so far is that the blue power button on the unit only turns on and off the outlets on the left(battery backup side). The 4 outlets on the right side stay on all the time. My PC has a 850 watt power supply with an AMD quad core and it gives me about 17 minutes of battery time. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far so good Monday, August 11, 2008 A Customer from Los Angeles
I'm using this for my plasma tv and directv dvr so I didn't have any need for the software. It seems to be working fine and I like the fact that you can see how much power is being used, time left, etc., on the display on the front just by the press of a button. I also like the fact that its not only a surge suppresser but also a line conditioner as I live in a pretty old apt. Looks like I won't be missing any of my scheduled recordings due to power outages any more. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 So far so good... Monday, August 11, 2008 bigbrain28 from Land O' Lakes, FL
As a web programmer for a company with dozens of PC's all backed-up with APC products I was understandably hesitant to invest in an other brand for my personal usage. The price point on this unit, however, in combination with its features gave me the incentive I needed to overcome my trepidation. I was very pleased to find the unit is ready to use right out of the box - No 12 ~ 16 hours of charging first. Chances are it will get that anyway after installation, but we buy things because we need them now, right?
I live in stormy central Florida, and rolling black/brown-outs are a daily occurence. I recently added an external HDD to supplement my DVR's recording capacity and decided a battery back-up would be the only way to stop that DVR from having to go through a 5-10 reboot scenario everytime the power blinked out.
After doing some math I calculated that the 900watt UPS would likely power most combinations of my home theater equipment at once, at least for the few seconds I needed it to.
After connecting my Monster Power Conditioner to this back-up I got a bit nervous, thinking it was asking too much of it, and that piggy-backing one conditioner with 8 items in it on the UPS was a bonehead move. Surprisingly, in everyday life the tax on the UPS is very little and most combinations only show about a 50% "potential" usage of battery power (if the power were to fail).
In 3 cases now with my 60" TV, DVR and AVR all on and watching a pre-recorded show the power has failed and the UPS did exactly what I had hoped and our experience was not interrupted. I don't know how much time I would get, but a few seconds is enough for my intended use anyway. With everything off, keeping the DVR powered would probable be good for an hour or more. 5 of 5 CyberPower 1500/Buy.com--YES Monday, August 11, 2008 Gerald S from Graham, Tx
I had started shopping for a replacement UPS a few days before receiving an email from Buy.com, I still had one APC in service, but another UPS had failed and the brand was nolonger in business. So, when I saw the price and size I knew it was a fair price PLUS free shipping and no tax. The unit arrived 3 days after I placed the order. When I placed it in service it was ready to go with 85% charge, the display has usable information that hasn't been available on older units. My old UPS set beside my monitor and the status lights were dim enough not to be a bother. The power indicator light on the C.P. is bright blue, so I had to relocate the unit to block the view of the front panel, but for $139.99 who can complain?!!!!!!!!!! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Minor Issue Monday, August 11, 2008 Doug dderoos from Lake City, MN
Overall a great product, only one issue. I was unable to establish the WAN protection, but admittedly I didn't spend much time on it. I would recommend this product for value and ease of setup especially. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Only one Quibble Sunday, August 10, 2008 don from schaumburg, illinois
Free shipping on this heavy item. Priced about half of comparable units. Has kicked in several times during thunderstorms in our area. Interface seamlessly with Windows XP.But, if your move it around, be careful not to push the power button on the front and top. It's a little too easy to push inadvertantly, suddenly killing your whole protected system. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great UPS for the money! Friday, August 08, 2008 A Customer from Appleton, WI
This deal just can't be beat! This is a nice UPS and can handle a 900 watt load. I bought this for my home theater gear and it works great. The only thing I would change would be to dim the power button LED. It is a little bright but a piece of electrical tape takes care of it. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Extemely Simple and Powerful UPS Monday, August 04, 2008 A Customer from Moody, AL
First and foremost, this unit is just simple to use. The ports that are supported by the battery are clearly labeled from the normal surge protected ports. The LCD display is very clear and shows you what's relevant to power consumption and battery level. Also, this unit can power up to 4 things with ample power for around 30 minutes in my situation. I have my computer, modem, router and monitor plugged up to the battery ports, and it says I have 30 minutes of run time if the power goes out. The software included is very intuitive and straightforward with the information it gives you. You can use it to test the UPS and set run times for things plugged into the battery ports. Buy.com is always the best and cheapest place to get a solid product! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 VERY Reliable Product Thursday, July 31, 2008 pbcsteve from Pontiac, Illinois
I have ran the Cyberpower 1500AVR on my iMac at home for a couple of years now. It performs flawlessly.
I just purchased the second unit for a computer that is being used as a server.
Note: I recently lost a recording on an unprotected computer that I was using during a "live" presentation due to a nearby lightning strike, resulting in momentary loss of power to the building. That is frustrating to say the least! The Cyberpower 1500AVR will eliminate all power failure/surge problems.
It is an excellent unit for what it was designed for, and at a great price.
I might add that Buy.com has, by far, the best price. Don't wait, buy it! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Best for the Money Monday, July 21, 2008 Ghost786110 from Houston, TX
I got four of these babies after a lot of research. They passed a real world test during a thunder storm in my area. I am Running XBOX 360 a 42" LCD TV, Two Workstations with 22" LCDs each holding 4 Large Capacity Hard Drives. Also a Windows Server. I was playing an intense game of Call of Duty 4 when the power went out. Even though the the power outage was less then a minute long the only Alarm I heard from these units was to tell me that they are on battery now. I am impressed and recommend these to anyone who does not want to spend more than $150 for a 1.5Kva UPS. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Quality for the price Monday, June 30, 2008 Josh from Raleigh, NC
This unit might cost you more than you want to pay for a battery backup, but there is none better. The quality is great, software is simple and useful, and the unit itself works like a charm. The first week I had it the power went out twice, and both times the UPS cut on and did what it was made to do. I also like the feature of regulating the voltage that goes to your PC so you dont burn out your power supply and other components. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Thorough Power Backup Monday, June 30, 2008 taiyo from Richmond CA
This has been an easy installation and is an informative power backup. Unlike the one i've used the past nine years, the CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series tells me what is happening with a push of a button - this is just the kind of system i wanted behind the running of my computer and its peripherals. Both a good buy and a good price. I recommend it for those that want a solid power backup for a mid-size computer. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great unit Monday, June 30, 2008 A Customer from Northeast MD
Excellent value. Sufficient power and excellent runtime. I have a mid-range Dell desktop with a 20" LCD and it will keep it up for 34 minutes according to the panel display. Power LED is hideously bright if you plan on having this in sleeping quarters. Panel display is really cool, shows you how much power is being consumed while not on battery. Batteries are replacable, a nice feature. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great UPS for a great price Sunday, June 29, 2008 MS from Cincinnati, OH
This UPS has performed exactly according to expectations. I've got my entire home theater plugged into this UPS and simulated a power failure and everything kept humming along. While the 950 watts is more than I need, I've had bad experiences with UPS' that were close to the load limit triggering their circuit breaker. That's not a problem with this model.
The included software isn't overly fancy but does what it needs to. The front control panel is really neat and gives you all the information you need to see what the remaining battery life is along with the load. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Great backup, want more options for threshold sett Saturday, June 21, 2008 James Ballenger from Richmond, VA
Our office has several large APC backup units, Tripp-Lite units and these cyberpower 1500 units. Our Tripp-Lite Omni1000 units are junk and we are replacing them with these Cyberpower 1500 units.
<br><br>
The Tripp-Lite Omni1000 units overheat, have a shorter backup span than their 1000VA should and their thresholds / AVR system isn't good enough. We have some sensitive allworx ip phones and when we lose power (all the phones have a battery backup) only the Tripp-Lite backed up phones die. The Cyberpower is right on par with our very large APC units in their basic function, reliability, cooling, etc.
<br><br>
Our single major gripe is that we are not able to re-program our Threshold voltages, set timing options, etc with the software as we can with our APC units. Our voltage tends to stay at a steady 120 and as that begins to change, we want our backups to clamp in the battery within a tighter window than is usually pre-programmed. We can do this with our APC units but not our Cyberpower or Tripp-lite units. If Cyberpower gave us threshold voltage setting control, I would be buying many more of them. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 uhm.... alright Wednesday, June 11, 2008 Budweiser from Edna, Texas
Well, for the price it is a pretty good unit. But, it needs to have a better software program for it. The software interface is just cheesy, and the options are limited. I prefer the APC software, but for the same protection it is much more expensive. However, next time I will probably choose APC so that it ties in with the server program that runs on the actual server that monitors all APC backups on the network. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Excellent UPS Monday, June 09, 2008 whatchell from Oklahoma City, OK.
I bought this for my desktop computer. I have a 19" LCD display and the desktop is loaded with 4 drives, DVD writer, 1st drive, DVD player 2nd drive. I also have it hooked up to my 42" Samsung LCD TV to protect it. Gives me about 15 minutes of up time should the power go out. We have a lot of small power bumps that knock the fish aquarium filter off and the clocks but the computer and the TV never even see these. Software is cool in that you can see what the power looks like and document the outages for insurance if needed. Highly recommended. In fact I am considering buying a second one just for my TV and it's components.
We had a power outage in the neighborhood that lasted 6 days and it was great having a small desk lamp plugged into this unit lighting my living room when everything else was dark. Held up great and recharged with a small generator. Only one I could find. Was this review helpful?

<br>
All of that, turned on and running (ie: play game/dvd, television) can run for approx. 20 minutes (as tested).<br>
<br>
Pretty phenominal.<br>
<br>
I really like the display, I can see the crazy voltage fluctuation throughout the day(evening) when others in my complex are home-Bad power.<br>
<br>
No real power outages yet, but I don't worry about the random brown outs we used to get.<br>
<br>
Only con I've found is that you CANNOT turn off (from the actual units front panel) the audible notifier when the power goes out and the battery power kicks in. You have to hook the unit up to a computer via the usb cable and install the software (included). From there it is very easy to disable it, but it would have been nice to have had a setting on the LCD display.<br>

Don't hold back, if you can pick this up for -$150, get it! Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 A Good Silent Sentry Monday, March 31, 2008 j-rgraham from Federal Way, WA
I reviewed several UPS systems before deciding on this particular one. I liked the fact that this UPS has an LCD readout, programmable software and small footprint. When a UPS is working the only thing you can really say about it is 'it works as designed'. And this UPS does exactly that. Absoulutely no complaints and would recommend it to anyone who was in the market for a good reliable UPS. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 No complaints Monday, March 31, 2008 A Customer from Baldwin Park, CA
We have 12 of these units in our office (purchased over a period of the last 24 months). All are working perfectly. We suffer from frequent voltage drops and brownouts, and these units not only protect our computer equipment from damage, but allows us to continue working without interruption. We have had one two-hour blackout and these units operated very well. They supplied our PC's with about 70 minutes of backup power (we need the PC's up and running in order to take and enter orders). The display on these units are really helpful (and cool). The display gives you a plethora of information, including estimated battery run time, load on the unit, the condition and frequency of the voltage into the unit and other information as well. I highly recommend this unit. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 The BEST UPS available. Saturday, March 29, 2008 K. Lundvall from South Abington, PA
The Cyber Power 1500VA 900 Watts is the best UPS I have ever had.
I have tried other brands and this one gives me the most bang for my buck.
When I press the Silver bar repeatedly on the front of the UPS,
it displays 7 different screens of information on the LCD screen.
This is a great investment. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 It works. Wednesday, March 12, 2008 A Customer from Chandler, AZ
I've had this for 3 weeks and have already had 3 outages. It kicks in perfectly and there is no power loss. The audible alarm goes off about every 30 seconds or every minute (I haven't timed it) and gets annoying, but it can be silenced through the software once you acknowledge the outage or the entire unit can be put in silent mode and never beep again. If you use the software, it will not allow you to run the UPS dry, you must shutdown the computer with 5 or 8 minutes of power left or within 1-5 minutes of an outage happening. The software also doesn't log every power outage occurance so you can see how long each outage was, it only logs the # of outages and when the last outage was.
I have an Athlon 64 3800+, 1 GB RAM, 2 7200 RPM hard drives, 24" LCD and I get ~35 minutes runtime idle (~150 W), ~25 minutes under load (~210W) according to the software/LCD. Overall, it's a great UPS and comes with many more features and higher capacity than other UPSes in its price range. Of course, the price drops after I buy it... Was this review helpful?

This UPS is a great value for the money. At 1500VA, it should be more than ample. The LCD panel is extremely useful in telling you the voltage the UPS is receiving and the output as well (how much power your devices are using). This is useful for knowing how much electricity you are using when your devices are off vs standby vs full use. The only thing bad I have to say about this UPS is the placement of the outlets in the back. They're too close together for anything but a cord. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Better than I expected! Wednesday, January 09, 2008 Kirk from Savannah GA
The CyberPower Intelligent LCD Series CP1500AVRLCD UPS is a great unit. I have a computer, LCD monitor, DVR, Slingbox and so many other things I can't remember and its only 17% loaded. I've had 2 power outtages and numerous "blinks" that used to shut me down cold. Since I installed it everything keeps running as if nothing happened. I did have to plug in 2 power strips (non-surge protected) to plug in all the little power supplies I have but it seems to be just fine.
I'm getting ready to buy another one for my home entertainment equipment. Was this review helpful?

This is an excellent piece for the money. Great features. I purchased for use in a commercial enviroment. The next two that I plan to purchase will be for two computers, and my home audio system! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great UPS Solution Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Kevin Hisel from Champaign, IL
I got this Cyberpower unit because I have some of their older models and they still work great. The coolest feature (besides all the honkin' capacity) is the informative LCD display. Unfortunately, to save it from burning out it automatically shuts off 1 minute after you turn it on or there is a power "event". I wish I could control the delay to shut-off. One thing that is not mentioned in the advertising material is that this thing is fully Vista compatible, i.e., if you switch the (Vista-supplied) driver to "HID UPS Battery" Vista treats it like it would your laptop battery and can control everything from the power settings inside Vista. Quite a nice surprise! All in all, I am very happy with this UPS. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great UPS Wednesday, November 28, 2007 DennisC from Grand Blanc, MI
I actuall have two of these and they both work great! I have one on a insanely overclocked combination grapic design and gaming computer that I built and one on a laser engraving machine. In a power loss the one on the computer will give me up to 16 minutes before shutdown at idle and the laser engraver will run up to 8 minutes at full power. For the money it's great performance! I purchased this unit because of the price and using the included USB cable I did not have any problems with the installation of the software nor the configuration. I would highly recomend this product. I am running VISTA Ultimate 64bit. Was this review helpful?

I finally decided to buy a UPS after a power surge from a storm took out both my DSL router and my motherboard, which were both plugged into a surge protector. First, I went looking for APC and other reputable UPS brands, but I took a chance on this one due to the reviews. I have almost never been as satisfied with a purchase as I am with this UPS. It has been raining pretty frequently and when a good storm comes through, it knocks out the power for a few minutes each time. Each time the power went out the UPS kicked in without fail and kept my computer, router, and LCD running without even the slightest hiccup. I'd recommend this product to anyone that has electronic equipment they don't want to lose just because the power went out. Was this review helpful?

I purchased this unit to support my entire home entertainment center. The looks of the unit is what inspired me to purchase this model but the features and quality of the product are why I am writing this review. The LCD status panel provides you with information on load, battery capacity, number of minutes of battery power available, output and input voltage. I have a LCD TV, DVD player, stereo components and a TIVO plugged in and during a power outage I will still have over 30 minutes of power plus it is prootecting my equipment from damaging sags and surges.
