Nino, his Mother, Juliet and their dog Rex are out on a sunny afternoon in the park. When an absentminded scientist, Alex, walks into the path of an oncoming car, Rex sacrifices himself to save the man's life. To repay his debt, Alex operates on the dog back at his lab. The procedure is a success, but not what Nino and his Mom had in mind; Rex has been implanted with a computer chip giving him amazing new super powers. Little does anyone know that Alex's partner, Erica has her own plans for the dog.Part of a techno-crime trio, Erica and her partners plan on selling the chip to the highest bidder. Catching a super-dog poses its problem though, so they decide to kidnap Nino, hoping Rex will come to the boy's rescue. Be careful what you wish for--Rex is a dog who's learned some new tricks!

This made-for-television sci-fi comedy concerns a wacky scientist, Alex (Judd Nelson), whose life is saved by an unselfish dog when he almost gets hit by a car. Wanting to show his gratitude, Alex performs an operation on Rex that gives him new and exciting superpowers. But trouble arises when rivals of Alex arrive on the scene demanding the installed chip from Rex's body.
