Top notch dramatic performances and an engrossing tale which mixes romance with mystery. Richard (Jeff Bridges) and Cutter (John Heard) are best friends, though very different. Cutter, who came back from the war with serious injuries, and drinks heavily with his equally drunk wife. Richard witnesses a man apparently disposing of a body, and though he'd rather not deal with it, Cutter is on the case until he can discover what actually happened.
