An Ancient Evil is About to Be Unleashed.

Thousands of years ago, the great Child King Tutankhamen ruled. Few know the details of his life - no one knows the secrets of his death. All that is about to change.

Free-spirited archaeologist Danny Fremont (Casper Van Dien, Sleepy Hollow) is certain that if found, King Tut's Emerald Tablet would hold the power to control the world. Unfortunately, the only one who believes Fremont is his nemesis archaeologist Morgan Sinclair (Jonathan Hyde, Titanic), a member of a secret society who wants the tablet to harness unspeakable evil on the world and will stop at nothing to get it.

With the help of a crackerjack team that includes the doubting Egyptologist Dr. Barakat (Leonor Varela, Cleopatra), Fremont ventures into the Valley of the Kings, toward Tut's tomb, nearer the portal to another world, and closer to the truth behind a mystery that will change the world forever - or end it.

Directed by action movie veteran Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) and co-starring Golden Globe nominee Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) and Simon Callow (The Phantom of the Opera).

"...a wonderfully good miniseries filled with amusing heroes, nefarious villains and a great balance of adventure and humor."  Dustin McNeill, DVDActive
"...action at full throttle and then some."  Marilyn Moss, The Hollywood Reporter

Editor's Note

Casper Van Dien stars as archaeologist Danny Freemont in this action-packed battle of good vs. evil. Believing that a lost emerald tablet once belonging to King Tut holds the power to control all mankind, Freemont heads on an expedition to uncover this cursed item before his enemy (and the one person who believes him) beats him to the chase. Will Freemont or his arch nemesis (Jonathan Hyde) unearth the secrets of King Tut's tombs before it's too late?

Professional Reviews
DVDActive 7 of 10
Casper Van Dien isn't anything to write home about in the lead role, but he's decent enough. The good guys of the series are heavily upstaged by the forces of evil at work against them. Malcom McDowell and Simon Callow are good fun as the leaders of the Hellfire Council but the most enjoyable performance of the miniseries comes from the Council's most under-estimated member, Morgan Sinclaire. Jonathan Hyde plays the role to diabolical perfection...Overall, I felt this was a wonderfully good miniseries filled with amusing heroes, nefarious villains and a great balance of adventure and humor. To give you an idea of just how much I enjoyed The Curse of King Tut's Tomb, I'll tell you that I found it light-years better than Stephen Sommer's Mummy films, although that statement may not be saying very much to the credit of this title. The ending to Curse was satisfying in that it left the door wide open for a sequel...For me, The Curse of King Tut's Tomb was an enjoyable miniseries. The video quality of the disc leaves something to be desired, but the excellent Dolby Digital 5.1 track might make up for it. The supplements are a waste of time and effort, but even still, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this title to those who enjoy adventure epics and don't mind a slight lack of originality. - Dustin McNeill
