Wow! Cruel and mean and oh so very good. Sexy and funny. Selma Blair is very good. Ryan Phillippe was born to play this role. Was this review helpful?

This is undoubtedly the sexiest SMG movie to date. A great little twist on the original to make it appealing to the 20-something generation. Although the hair color was a nice touch to make her part seem a little more convincing(not that blonde wouldn't have worked), I prefer the more natural Sarah. Regardless-two thumbs way up! i hate you if you don't like this movie. Sarah Michelle Gellar is the most beautiful, sexy female I've ever scene. She deserves an acadamy award. if there was an award for 'Hottie' she'd win. I wish she was my girlfriend. the movie is good. Was this review helpful?

Cruel Intentions is simply astounding. The movie continues to amaze from the incredible, sweeping opening shot, (which plays like a fast-foward MTV generation spin on the extended tracking shot which opens Orson Welles' 1958 masterwork, 'Touch of Evil,') to a haunting finale reminiscent of Ingmar Bergman's 'Wild Strawberries.' First time director shows a natural feel for cinematics as he uses the camera to take us into a small, select world created by the New York elite. With a lesser director at the helm, the film could have been far slighter. The actors also hold up their end of the bargain. A career making performence by Sarah Michelle Gellar highlights this cast of up and comers. She dominates the screen with her acid tounge performance; much like a evel version of Katharine Hepburn in Howard Hawks' 'Bringing Up Baby.' Expect fantastic things from this sparkplug. With all these assets, it is impossible to dismiss 'Cruel Intention' as simply a 'teen' movie. Kumle's scathing satire on the young and restless should find a place on the shelf next to 'Network' and 'Dr. Strangelove.' Bravo! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Indeed a awesome movie! Friday, September 10, 1999 nxtkorp from Great Neck, New York
Sarah Michelle Gellar, stunning as usual. This was a kick-a** movie. Funny, sexual, and entertaining. The music is great aswell. Placebo, the verve and marcy playground. I recommend this to any SMG fan, or anyone looking for a awesome flick. Was this review helpful?
