| | | | Product Guides | | | | When You Have The Ultimate Performance System, Can You Really Tolerate Inferior Memory?
It doesn't matter how fast a memory module is if it isn't stable and doesn't fit your system. Software crashes, choppy game play, and driver and operating system hiccups — all can be caused by bad memory modules. Performance and stability are Crucial! Don't settle for anything less than Ballistix!
| NVIDIA SLI-Ready system memory certification ensures compatibility and system stability with the rest of the SLI ecosystem components including NVIDIA nForce SLI motherboards, NVIDIA GeForce GPUs, and SLI-Ready power supplies. SLI-Ready memory also supports Enhanced Performance Profiles (EPP). When paired with NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI, 680i LT SLI or 590 SLI AMD edition-based motherboards, SLI-Ready memory exposes advanced performance memory settings. |

So, What is Ballistix Tracer Memory?
Ballistix Tracer memory is specifically built for performance enthusiasts and case modders who want to push the performance envelope while adding flash appeal to their boxes. The Ballistix line of high-performance memory modules features advanced speed grades, low latencies, and integrated aluminum heat spreaders. Ballistix Tracer memory features a black PCB, black integrated heat spreaders, and one or two rows of eight "chasing" red and green LEDs atop the module, circulating in a random pattern based on memory utilization. A custom-designed circuit relays bus activity to the LEDs, allowing them to accurately reflect usage of each memory module. In addition, eight blue ground effects LEDs emit a constant glow near the pins.
So you ask yourself, "What has Crucial done to make sure Ballistix products operate at the published speed ratings?"
Good question!
After Crucial manufacture's the modules, every Ballistix product is tested in a platform capable of running at its published operating speed.
Crucial Ballistix DDR2 is a leading-edge generation of memory with an improved architecture that allows it to transmit data extremely fast & stable.
What is a Ballistix 240-pin DIMM?
A Ballistix dual inline memory module (DIMM) consists of a number of memory components that are attached to a black printed circuit board. The gold pins on the bottom of the DIMM provide a connection between the module and a motheboard. Ballistix 240-pin DIMMs are used to provide DDR2 SDRAM memory for desktop computers.

5 of 5 Excellent RAM Tuesday, January 01, 2008 Rafael from Garfield, NJ
Great RAM, had some issues adding this 2GIG to the 2GIG I already had, but after BIOS upgrade all 4GIGs worked perfectly and did not have to set any timings manually at all. Picked all the right timings and voltages automatically. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Runs flawlessly - great choice in RAM. Friday, December 21, 2007 Jay from Pgh, PA
I know Corsair is the best, but Crucial also gets fantastic reviews so when I saw this deal ($45 after MIR) for SLI memory with trace lights I couldn't pass it up. I plugged them in and they worked like a charm. Motherboard (XFX 680i SLI LT) immediately recognized 2gb at 800mhz 4-4-4-12 2T. I didn't have to do a thing - although I will be overclocking in the near future. Don't be afraid to buy these - great deal on a great product! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Buy for the $ Wednesday, December 19, 2007 www.emagcenter.com from Avondale, AZ
Had for 2 weeks; so far, no problems. The LED lights are cool because I have clear sided cases, so you can see the lights blink as the RAM is processing info. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good looking Xmas tree Saturday, December 15, 2007 A Customer from Dickinson, TX
Using this 2G kit in my new build of Q6600 and Abit MB. Stable sofar in the last 2 weeks. Planning to OC his baby later. Nice price for the performance. LED is an extra bonus - if you have a clear side panel. Was this review helpful?

4 of 5 Excellent RAM Tuesday, December 11, 2007 vhsansso from Missouri
Excellent product and price. Improved the performance test of my PC over OCZ Reapers. Personally I did not like the intense brightness of the chaser LEDs. Luckily I don't have a window on CoolerMaster Mystique case. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 GREAT RAM, fast shipping Sunday, December 02, 2007 A Customer from Chicago, IL
Great RAM. I have it working at its rated 800Mhz speed with timings set at 4-4-4-12 1T at 2.0V
My board is a MSI P6N SLI Platinum, and by default it ran the RAM at 5-5-5-18 2T and 1.8V so you may need to go into your BIOS and change the settings manually.
Have not tried overclocking but I have heard these overclock well. I may in fact downclock to 667Mhz and tighten the timings to CAS-3, haven't decided yet.
Crucial is the best, I've never had any problems with them. The A-DATA Ram I had before this was cas-5, they were fine RAM chips and cheap (I bought them early 2007) but now prices have fallen so why not invest in the best? the A-Data acted weird with my motherboard and only worked on DIMMS 3 & 4 in DDR2 mode, but these crucial work fine in either pair slots.
Buy.com was great, FAST shipping, first purchase ever. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Good memory, pretty X-mas lights Thursday, November 29, 2007 MarkR from Dallas Texas
Pros: Crucial Ballistix Tracer reads as 5-5-5-18, but you can easily change it in your mobo BIOS to 4-4-4-12. I have not tried lower setting in my Asus Crosshair. Heatsinks and lights are nice, no quality issues, very compatibile memory.
Cons: Shipping was slow via USPS. 30 days after purchase and rebate, Buy.com offered the same memory for $10 less and no $50 rebate was necessary. Paid $110-$50MIR = $60, should have waited 30 days and got it for $50, no MIR and free shipping. Boo! Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Extra memory Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Elysburg, PA
I added it to my Dell Inspiron 530 (originally 1GB) and had instant improvement in application speed. The lights are cool only if you leave the cover open. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Memory.. Fast and reliable Wednesday, November 28, 2007 A Customer from Pontiac, IL
No problem here. Stuck it in and fired up the PC and worked well. No problems at all. Great price was a bonus for the extra speed.

5 of 5 Looks great, Works Better!! Wednesday, November 28, 2007 Rob from New City, NY
This is some fast memory. With fast timings, in dual channel you get awesome bandwidth and it uses micron chips, so there is OC potential for it also. Did i mention how great the lights look? The blue lights on the bottom give a great ambience and the red and green activity lights put on a light show in your computer case, and it's interesting to see how often your pc accesses the memory. The black heatsinks make it look sleek. This is probably the best looking memory i've seen and it's high quality to boot. You will not be disappointed, i wasn't. Just make sure your case has a window to see it, otherwise the lights are pointless. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Beautiful memory at a great price Friday, October 26, 2007 Robby from NY
As soon as i received this memory, it just felt like high quality stuff. The heatsinks look great, after you install it turn on the pc you'll want to show everyone. The blue lights along the bottom give it a "floating" effect and the activity lights add nice light action and it's interesting to see how much and how often your memory is accessed. The specs give this low timings and you might have to tweak them in the bios. You might not need 2.1v, 1.8 or 1.9 should work just fine. I have heard you could get this as high as 1066 mhz. You won't be let down if you pick this up. Was this review helpful?
