My PC is custom built. When I upgraded to Vista the PC slowed down. I am running multiple applications including transferring family video from a digital video camera. After I put the new 2GB RAM my PC changed and is now BLAZING FAST.
I'm now running 3GB of Crucial RAM.

I think the memory is great and a good price at that. I'm writing to help anyone who running into the same problem I had. After installing the memory my system crashed constantly. One thing that came to mind was to make sure the Motherboard BIOS were up to date. I found my motherboard couldn't handle the extra memory without new BIOS, despite the Crucial website saying it was compatible. I did the upgrade myself and it's fine now. So, just a warning, if you have an older computer, check compatability and also be prepared to do more advanced things like installing a BIOS upgrade yourself. Decide if you have the level of expertise to do something like a BIOS upgrade before planning to do the install yourself or you might be unhappy. Was this review helpful?

By adding 2GB of memory to an older system, I was shocked and amazed. The speed and performance increased very significantly over the original 512MB included with the system. I have used Crucial memory in the past and have always been satisfied. Just plugged it in and everything worked fine. I always use a grounded wrist strap when working with delicate items such as this. I upgraded my dual G5 Mac from 1.5GB to 3.5GB with this purchase. My only concern was that I was wasting my money putting in that much memory. Once I had all the memory, old and new, installed and the machine rebooted I verified that all 6 memory cards were operating. Then I opened Activity Monitor and started up some applications. Once I opened Photoshop and started working with some photos memory usage soared to almost 3GB. I can't say I have seen much of a speed increase yet, but I have to believe there has been one. I am also looking forward to the Fall release of Leopard, which is fully 64 bit native, to see how memory usage changes. Was this review helpful?
