Crucial always had a good reputation for RAM chips. I was not disappointed. I upgraded my Dell Inspiron twice with Crucial from 512 Mb of RAM to 2 GB's of RAM. Delivery was quick and packaged securely. Installation was a breeze. Was this review helpful?

I bought some off brand ram for my IBM X40 that made my screen go ditzy! After several installations of the ram chip it only got worse. Alas, the ram chip was defective and was not covered by the warranty I purchased along with it! Yikes! I always heard that Crucial is the only way to go and after purchasing this ram chip, I am convinced after seeing my little IBM take off now!

Installation was a breeze. My Toshiba M45 series satellite had standard 512MB. Both slots are located at the bottom under a removable cover. So there was no problem replacing the old RAM with the new 1G unit. I booted the machine and 1G (0.9 to be exact) was immediately recognized by OS. Powered down the system again and the second 1G unit. System recognized the total to be 2G (1.98 to be exact).

I'll report the speed comparison later. After using for a couple of days, I do see a noticeable increase in the program loading. MS office documents now come up instantly. Outlook used to take a long time to open new message window. That issue is gone now.
