I have used this memory to upgrade a really old laptop, and the laptop is now fit for playing some games for kids. Boot time is faster and I can now run many applications together. However, sadly I have been receiving many BSODs and Kernel Panics (using both Windows xp and Ubuntu on it). Of late, I also notice that about 1-2% of the times, the screen becomes garbled and the PC hangs soon after startup. Barring this little problem, the RAM has been a great buy for a casual PC user. However I wouldn't recommend it for more serious work, e.g. professional gaming or for servers.

As always, I'm impressed with buy.com's fast shipping and incredible prices. This memory module was simply plug and play, quickly recognized by my five year old hp and has worked flawlessly for the several weeks since I installed it. Even those that are technologically challenged can easily upgrade their memory themselves. I try to remove any static electricity from myself by touching some kind of metal before unscrewing the panel on the computer and replacing the memory module. Handle the memory module by the edges to avoid fingerprints and simply input it the opposite of removing the old one. Starting up your computer will recognize the upgraded amount of memory, that's it.

this worked perfect in my Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop. Although the memory speed I needed was 2300 this 2700 speed worked perfect. Also the manual says that it will only take a max of 2 500 meg memory modules, I have put 2, 1 gig modules in and it works perfect, much faster and uses less battery. This same memory from Dell is very expensive!!!!!!!!!!

Bought this for my T40 2373 which is now more than 5 yrs old. Just had to replace the original with this one and Start the laptop. Did not do any changes in settings. The system recognized the RAM immediately. The system now shows 1.5GB RAM total. I don't really run any big apps on my laptop, so not sure if it really improved the performance. Had issue with the shipment. The first shipment was lost. Contacted buy.com and they immediately shipped another. Response was very prompt.

I am not sure until I hook up to my notebook Sony Vio GRX560 compitible for 1gb single ram but it's work perfect and boost the performance.Some tech problems with my model Vio note books does not work two ram slots at a time, thats reason I tried with 1gb.

I added this to a Dell Inspiron by replacing one of 2 256Mb modules, and it dramatically improved the performance of my mothers laptop. MS Word was almost unuseable initially, but it now flies (relatively) and both startup and shutdown are significantly quicker. The amount of RAM used in taks manager never seems to go beyond 1Gb so I do not expect adding another 1Gb module will speed up the Laptop noticeably.

I am totally satisfied with my upgraded memory. The rebate offer made for an especially attractive value ($30 back on 1 GB). I was referred to Crucial by HP, the manufacturer of my laptop. What I found most impressive about Crucial were the tools they have available online, especially their automated detection for product compatibility. Never having installed memory, the detailed instructions were also very helpful.

Bought this for Dell Inspiron 8600, which already had 1 GB stick (now maxing out to 2GB). Put it in and got identified by BIOS right away. If you want to get full performance, remember to adjust the size of the Pagefile. For windows XP I switched it off entirely and the performance is considerable. Also contemplate buying a 7200 rom hard drive and defragement it and make sure you have atleasr 30-40% free space for best perfoemance.

I have a 4 year old Toshiba laptop with 512MB RAM. I had been thinking of upgrading the memory for a while and that is when I saw this deal with MIR. I was skeptical at first about buying this because I was not sure if my laptop would accept it and how easy it would be to set it up. Nevertheless, my laptop's "slowness" prevailed and I bought this. The shipping was fast and it arrived the same week.I was under the impression that my laptop would only recognize 1GB of RAM but I left my existing memory inside in the slot and put this one in the second one. Setting up took only 5 minutes and guess what the laptop started without any glitches and windows now reports 1.48GB RAM!!!!. The applications are fast and the biggest difference i have noticed is how fast Firefox launches. Great product and its been 3 weeks and i haven't had any problems so far. I would definitely recommend this product to everybody.

It worked fine in my old Toshiba notebook. I have used Crucial memory many times in the past without problems. I only marked it as a good value because they happened to have a good rebate going. The regular price seemed too high. Shipping via the free option was slow - It was a cooperative effort of UPS and USPS and it looks like once it reached USPS it took a detour. The time frame given for the rebate seems way too long. I guess they are hoping to make interest money.
