Eugene Martone (Ralph Macchio, The Karate Kid) struggles with the devil and his destiny when he goes down to the Crossroads in this contemporary drama. With a potent blend of adventure, romance, and music, the film takes gifted young guitarist Martone into a dangerous and challenging new world. Obsessed with unlocking the mysteries of the blues, the fledging musician finds cantankerous Willie Brown (Joe Senaca), a master of the blues harmonica, and frees him from prison. The unlikely duo hoboes from New York to Mississippi as Martone searches for runaway Frances (Jami Gertz, Quicksilver). With a rich mixture of Delta blues and driving rock produced by Ry Cooder, the film takes Martone and Brown on an intense odyssey that leads them to a dramatic climax at the Crossroads.

Editor's Note

A young musical prodigy studying at New York City's Julliard School becomes obsessed with the music of the Mississippi Delta, the blues. Intent on discovering fame and fortune as a blues guitar player, he seeks out the legendary bluesman, Willie Brown.

5 of 5 Let's CUT HEADS? Wednesday, September 29, 2004
livinaftermidnite2004 from Portales, NM

The first time I seen this movie is when I was still a little kid. It just came out on vhs and it became one of my favorite movies of all time. Now I have it on DVD! If you're looking for inspiration, this would be your movie. If you like the blues, you'll definitely like this movie. Or if you're just curious, there's always a first. From a great cast to dramatic scenes to great music and my favorite "cut heads" feat. Steve Vai, this is a must have movie if you like to play the guitar.
