From the man "USA Today" calls the "master of the genre," "Cross" is the pinnacle of the bestselling detective series of the past two decades--a high-velocity thriller fans have waited years to read, in which Alex Cross at last has the chance to capture the psychopath who murdered his wife, Maria. Available in a tall Premium Edition.

Annotation:
A master of the crime thriller, James Patterson gives us a 12th novel featuring retired cop turned psychologist Alex Cross. Cross has retired from his work tracking serial killers in order to spend more time with his family. He has opened a private psychology practice, with the hope that he'll get out of the game once and for all. But when his former partner calls on him for help with a case, Cross discovers that the case in question has a link to his wife's murder from years before. He is drawn back into the hunt, and becomes consumed with finding her killer, who turns out to be a horrifying serial rapist well-known for his brutal methods. Patterson's graphic descriptions of violence may be shocking to those who aren't familiar with his other work, but followers of the earlier books are sure to find CROSS the most personal, emotional case for the popular character.

Praise
"Cross's competence and vulnerability make a stark contrast with Sullivan's sadistic mutilations and psychological manipulations of his victims. Fans know that Cross will survive, but at what cost?" Nov. 2006

Author Bio
James Patterson
James Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York, 50 miles north of New York City. Valedictorian of his class at the Christian Brothers school, St. Patrick's, in 1965, Patterson graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in English. He first entertained the idea of becoming a writer in 1971 when he worked as a college student in a mental institution, a job that afforded him abundant time to read. He came up with the idea for his first novel during that time, and five years later, after 26 rejection slips, his first effort, "The Thomas Berryman Number", appeared in bookstores. Since that time, Patterson has written numerous best-selling thrillers featuring the sensitive, modern-day hero Alex Cross, including "Kiss the Girls", which was made into a major motion picture starring Morgan Freeman.
