Creative ZEN X-Fi 32GB built with X-Fi Technology and Wireless LAN - 70PF2392001F1

This was just what I was looking for. The sound quality is first rate. The compact design makes it easy to carry. The nine button control is unique, but it makes sense after you get used to it. Having a built in speaker is a also great feature. Looked at IPOD and Zune, but they couldn't beat the value that I found in the Zen X-fi.

I loved my 20GB Sleek Photo, connectivity options beat zune with a stick and ipod with a BIG stick. Syncs with Media Player, or you can copy directly to (and FROM) with windows explorer. Zen X-Fi is even better, smaller & lighter. 32GB is great, screen is big & bright, longer battery life (you only get 31 hours if you use the lock button that turns off the screen). Headphones are ok - way better than earbuds, comparable to sony. Get Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro earbuds (at buy.com) if you want to hear how absolutely amazing this player sounds. And it does. X-fi crystalizer makes the highs crisp and tightens up the bass. AMAZING difference hooked up to my car stereo - thanks to X-fi, I love my car stereo again. Now - the speaker is both a blessing & curse: You can't permanently turn it off. Nice when you want it, but if you take out your headphones, or plug it in to charge with no phones plugged in, it WILL come on. A nuisance you can work around. Menu is great - I'm still getting used to small buttons (Sleek had BIG controls), love the alphabetical scroll feature in library. Wireless is kind of useless; it's all about sound quality: x-fi is the bomb. Accesories: the leather case is nice, but you have to slide player around to reach all the buttons - not my favorite fit. You WILL need a usb extension cable. Bottom line: I love it. And I pity zune & iPod users.

The new creative zen X-Fi is a great purchase but not without its flaws. First the good: 30 G of space. Can't go wrong with a deal like that. Videos and Photos both look wonderful on this highly aesthetically pleasing product. The physical changes are all excellent. It is incredibly small and lightweight and every person I have shown it to has been instantly amazed by how nice looking it is. I had the old ceative zen vision M I loved it but it was rather bulky and took up an entire pocket. This is much much smaller and gives me room to put other things in my pocket as well. Creative's additional zen features are all here once again and I frequently use the microphone and radio, both features missing from ipods. It is also once again fully compatible with a large number of media players and can be easily sync'd with every one I have tried. I also have to talk about the ear buds that come with the zen which are absolutely phenomenal. I have never used ear buds of this size that cancel out sound so effectively and still manage to provide brilliant quality sound through all frequencies. Tying in with this is the x-fi technology which I can no longer live without. A very necessary addition. I don't even bother turning it off anymore. The battery life is also splendid. I was a little weary of the replacement of the touch pad with buttons but creative has done a brilliant job of making long menu's easily accessible. However, the product is not without flaws. It seems a little like creative threw in more features than they knew what to do with just for the sake of adding it to their list of features. The features I'm talking about are the wi-fi and the expandable memory slot. The wi-fi is a bit silly considering you can only use it to go on an instant messager, and further only a specific creative instant messager which doesn't connect to most popular instant messaging softwares. In addition, the text input is essentially like a cell phone which makes me think, if I want to send someone a message, I'll just use my cell phone instead. The expandable memory slot is probably the biggest failure on creatives part I was very excited about the prospect of adding memory to my device in case I ran out of room but the memory card is completely un-integrated, To access files from it, one must go to the main menu, go to the memory card and then select the files from there. Any music on it will not be integrated into the music folder's menu's and lists, a rather annoying nuance. Aside from those flaws, I still say this is an excellent product, especially for the price. It is definitely far far superior to the ipod and microsoft's zune. I give it 4 stars out of 5.
