Solid product, does all it claims very well. Holds up well to use by kids. Have yet to be disappointed with a Creative Zen product.

This little MP3 player is outstanding. I love the size. I love the ease of use. Even the earbuds it comes with are very good quality. I run Linux predominately, and I wanted a device that would integrate easily. Using the FREE Gnomad software available on all Linux platforms this device integrates easily. Within a couple hours of opening the box for the first time I had well over 3gig worth of songs uploaded to it. The equalizer is nice and all listed functionality works great with ONE exception. The FM radio reception is VERY weak. I thought that would be a nice bonus, which is why I bought the Plus model. The weather is stormy in PA right now so perhaps when skies clear up I'll have better signal strength. Overall though, this is a tremendous value in my opinion and would recommend it to anyone. I used the 8gig version that a friend of mine had to compare it to an IPOD and some of the cheaper models out there. I like this for all comparable options as much or more than an IPOD. The only player I didn't have a chance to compare was the Sansa which I understand are of good quality as well. But you won't be disappointed with this one, I promise you that much.

Excellent price for an ipod substitute. The size of the screen is bigger than the ipod nano and it has the ability for video playback. The size of the player is much smaller than I expected which is a very nice surprise. The thickness of the player is a bit thicker than an ipod nano but it is a pleasant thickness rather than the feeling of being bulky. Overall I am very pleased with this purchase.

I've had the 4GB Zen V Plus for about 2 months now and it works great. The software if fairly easy to use and what I really like is how easy it is to create and manage play lists. It has an FM tuner which works fine and a voice recorder for quicky notes. The voice recorder has acceptable quality, but don't expect anything great. <br><br> <b>Criticisms</b> <br> Its not quite as easy to use as the iPod, but not too bad. The little joy stick works, but it can be cumbersome if you are trying to scroll through a huge list. Like I said, nice, but not as nice as Apple's interface. Its a minor complaint. <br><br> Battery is not user replaceable. <br><br> My biggest complaint is the volume. Its volume, even on the highest setting(25), is not that loud. Its great for casual listening and even for the gym, but if you like really loud music while working out, you may be a little disappointed. I had a Sony MP3 player before this and it was much louder(although the user interface made the device unusable). <br><br> Its much better than all the other cheap MP3 players out there. To me, I would only buy a creative labs or an iPod. <br><br> <b>Conclusion</b> <br> I really like this MP3 player, and for the price, its a great deal. Its has lots of features and does a great job if you are a casual listener. If you are an audiophile or like really loud music, try an iPod. Overall, its a great value.

The player is great for the most part, but the software is absolute junk. Took several installations before it would "work," and even then it feels shaky. I prefer the drag and drop from Windows explorer, but sometimes when you pull over album folders, they aren't picked up by the player as albums, and you have to go to the "all tracks" option to see the music. Otherwise, great size, nice look, good battery life, nice price.

Used for a month- Daughter(19)likes it. Easy to use out of the box, without reading the directions. Came in plain box and looked brand new. Good price for 4 gigs.

Good sound quality, easy to control. Nice FM radio. Voice recording is useless IMO. The joystick is a bit small, and overall flimsy feeling from the controls. But I was happy for 5 weeks until the screen went dark. Will see how good is Creative support

This is a wonderful mp3 player in every way, but the OLED screen developed lines. I sent it back, they fixed it/ sent a new one. It just went black. I tried reset, hard reset, etc. It's now past the short warranty period. I never would have thought I'd say this, but Save your money and get an ipod.

Just got the unit and haven't had much time to play with it yet. Note that the refurb player come without some of the accessories that a new one has. No storage sack or lanyard. Maybe not a big deal, but potential buyers should be aware.

Pros: My refurbished 4 GB Zen V plus arrive within a few days of order, and it looks brand new and works great--at a price about $30 under new cost. I would definitely recommend this mp3 player over any other flash player for its features, ease of use, and fast uploads, music sharing, built in tuner and mic, video, etc... Also, the sound quality is superior to the over hyped over priced i-pod nano. I have nothing against apple and i-pod, actually Mac's rule. As a technical person by trade, I just cannot buy something that just looks pretty but it technically inferior to Zen. Cons: Not too many case or accessory choices for this device.

Luckily I have both XP and Vista. Installed and worked quickly with XP. Vista is another problem. I have an HP desktop with Vista home premium. With this installed, including the patches from the Creative web site, almost constant BSOD (Blue Screen Of Death). Email to Creative tech support indicated that I should read up on this at in their knowledge base. None of this helped. Removing the drivers and using it on XP exclusively did the trick. The address book and task system are OK. The scheduler is not so good. No recurring events, you have to enter each one individually. It does work with Audible downloads, which is the major reason I chose it. If you want to use it as a USB drive, you have to partition it. Videos look OK. It's too bad, Creative used to be a good name and help was good. Oh well, the Sandisk player didn't support Audible. Knowing what I do now, I would not have purchased it.

I have never had an MP3 player before and being 42 years old and having only moderate tech skills, this product is easy to use and takes only a little practice to become proficient. I bought this as a refurbished item and also bought one for my 111 year old son. We both love this device. I have loaded songs, video and podcast. Creative also has a built in service called Zencast for this and other ZEN players which makes it easy to find videos, podcasts and other materials to fill this device up. The battery life is excellent about at least 10 hours although I have never played it long enough to completely drain the battery. The unit charges through USB cable which also doubles as the means for downloading music to it. My only complaint right now is that I wish it was a little easier to see how much free space you have on the unit without actually hooking it to the computer and that may be a feature that I just haven't discovered in the manual yet although I have hardly read the manual. I was able to load video directly from my Kodak digital camera and it looks great. I would recommend the following podcast to anyone who likes politically in-correct humor, nobody likes onions, check it out. You can't go wrong with this player if you are a first timer or just looking for a great player at a great price. P.S. I have seen this same unit in Target and other retailers for 129.00 plus.
