1 of 5 Broke down on first use! Monday, August 25, 2008 A Customer from LMT, CO
I had to give it a 1 because there is no option for 0. it broke the first time i tried to use it. I charged it up, connected it to the PC and selected a bunch of files (1.5GB) to sync. It wouldn't go past the 4% complete mark. I unplugged it but the player wouldn't come back to life - it was still showing the syncing picture. i tried a reset - didn't work. i held the power button down for a while (1 min. or so). It went out and hasn't come back since. For all that money and pain, I haven't been able to listen to a single track with it.
I'll tell you more. I tried to contact Creative support, but I'll be damned if I can find their tel# on the website. They have a support form you can fill. One of the fields you HAVE to fill is the Serial #. It took me close to 15 mins. with a lot of squinting to read it and I'm still not sure I got it right. (extremely small font, embossed BLACK ON BLACK). The other thing they want you to fill on the form is the Firmware Version. How am I supposed to get that from a dead player? Show me the genius who designed this piece of junk - I have a couple of things I want to do. Made in China, BTW, but what isn't nowadays. SO, here's the review: 0 for design, 0 for product performance, 0 for ease of use, 0 for support, 0 for website, and 0 for whatever else is left. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Love It! Tuesday, April 22, 2008 A Customer from Chicago, IL.
Creative Zen V is easy to load. The music is sharp, the videos and pictures are clear. A really great product for the price. We have the higher priced sony and ipod mp3's also and this Zen V is just as good. Also tried the touch screen one from Coby and had to return it, too hard to load. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 I expected better Monday, April 21, 2008 A Customer from Mesquite, TX
Right out of the box, the unit had a black (unlit) line down the left side of the screen. It's not troublesome enough to send back for repair, so I try to ignore it and find myself annoyed. It downloads music faster than the last unit I had, but sometimes during play it freezes mid-song and has to be turned off and on again. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 can't go wrong at that price Saturday, March 29, 2008 Tony from Idaho Falls, ID
Not exactly a powerhouse MP3 player but it's simple to use, small & lightweight and it's priced well. I'm not one of those guys that always has earbuds in, I only listen occasionally when on the road so it's perfect for me. Was this review helpful?

Don't buy this. Sure it works great at first, but after just a few months it broke down. First there was a line right down the middle of the screen. Next it started erratically switching into FM mode, back to music, back and forth, back and forth. You have to shut it down, and try again. Sometimes you have to reset with a paperclip. Finally the little button in the middle (Used to navigate) just cracked, and eventually fell apart. Now I have to use fingernail, pain in the a__!
Don't buy this piece of junk. I will NEVER buy another product with the Creative label. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 ZEN V 2GB Wednesday, January 02, 2008 A Customer from Bel Air, MD
I really liked mine....(more on the use of 'liked', in the past tense). Great size, easy to use, good sound. But, mine "froze" after about 6 months. Seems to be a common problem, because the user instructions say to "insert a pin into the reset port to reset it." Needless to say, a pin is probably not the best thing to stick in an electronic device, but the only thing that will fit into the tiny port.
Sadly, I don't have the proof of purchase after a recent move. I will replace it, but if it's only going to last 6 months, might as well get refurbished. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A hit with my wife! Thursday, December 27, 2007 A Customer from Waterloo, IA
I got this for my wife for many of the features, but primarily because it was an MP3 player that sync'd with Outlook. She absolutely LOVES this little dynamite - even more than she loves my own iPod Nano! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Shopping Experience and Great Product! Saturday, April 28, 2007 Sean Palladino from Cinnaminson, NJ
I just received the product, and after playing around with it for a couple of hours, I am very satisfied with my purchase. The player fits snuggly in my palm, and has a pretty big screen for such a small player. Some people might consider that startup a "little" to long, but I didn't really care about that. The music is, of course, separated into Album, Artist, and Song, and it also has Bookmarks. Now that is VERY useful! Since I enjoy podcasts and audiobooks, bookmarks allow me to save where ever I was in the music and turn off the player.
The videos are pretty cool as well. Although I highly recommend that when you convert your videos to the player, you should "crop" the video to the frame size of player. Widescreen videos just seem WAY to small on this player. Same goes for photos as well. But most people aren't going to just use this player for videos/pictures, so it isn't that much of a problem. The FM radio had pretty good frequencies. The overall sound quality of the actual player was awesome. Crisp, clear audio, even for the FM radio. The voice recording quality was pretty good as well. I could hear voices that were probably 20-30 feet away from me, which is fairly good.
Overall, I am VERY happy with the Creative Zen V Plus! Thanks Buy.com, and thanks Creative for giving me a chance to experience the BEST in portable music. :) Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Excellent Player Monday, April 23, 2007 A Customer from Frazeysburg, Ohio
This is a very good and easy to use mp3 player. It works very well except that it froze once when I was turning it off. Once I reset it it was back to normal. That is the only complaint I have for it. The joystick makes it very easy to navigate through the menus. The sound quality is also great. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 A very good product Saturday, March 31, 2007 A Customer from boston, MA
I bought this one from buy.com and as always it was delivered very quick.
Pros - The product is excellent. Good sound quality and a nice colored interface. The capability of playing video clips is an added bonus over ipod nano. Also a dedicated volume button on the side is very convenient. The looks are eyecatcher, and i have been complemented so many times for it.
cons - freezes if you try to do many things together, especially while playing the radio if you try to quickly switch. The radio is difficult to set and not clear, the automatic setup is absolutely useless and it takes long to set up manually and its complicated. headphones are not of a great quality, the padding came out within 10 days of use. the display is impossible to read in sunlight.
In all, it is a great player which serves its purpose. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 A Great Product Sunday, March 18, 2007 A Customer from Woodland Park, CO
I'm new to the world of MP3 players and couldn't afford an iPod. I'm glad I found the Creative Zen! It was so easy to install the software and transferring music was a breeze! It also has a radio player built in, which I was looking for! I just wish it came with it's own instruction manual instead of having to go to the computer when I have a question! 5 of 5 Love it! Sunday, March 11, 2007 A Customer from Ft Belvoir, VA
So far, I love my new MP3 player! It is cute, small, light weight, and sooo easy to use! I even was able to use Music Match software to load my playlists that I already had on my computer! I haven't used it yet for pics and videos. I think the sound quality is incredible and battery life has worked out fine for me! Only re-charged it a couple of times in 2 weeks! I feel I got a very good quality product for a very nice price! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Everything Else vs. iPod Thursday, March 01, 2007 epuro from Bloomington, IN
This product is absolutely amazing! It shows just how bad the iPod nano or any other iPod really is. It costs about half of the nano and has a bigger screen, more memory space devoted to songs (which is why your buying it), arguably better compatibility with WM or Musicmatch then the iPod is with iTunes, has PDA functions, the ability to make a play list on the go, and has many better features you just have to find for yourself. The only thing that the iPod is better at is fooling mindless people into buying their overrated product. Was this review helpful?
1 of 1 customers found this review helpful. 5 of 5 Nice mp3 player Thursday, March 01, 2007 Cristian from Naperville,IL
I'll start with the cons: start-up time is a little longer than I expected; you can only recharge it from a usb port; with all the features you have available (mp3, photos and video player),2 GB may not be enough for all your needs (consider the 4 GB version); to delete a file, you have to connect it to a computer; funny, but I can't find a way to set the time for my unit's clock;
Pros: slick unit, very good quality overall, easy to use, superior sound quality, good microphone, nice screen. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Nice cute player Thursday, February 22, 2007 ian from honolulu, hawaii
Great alternative for an ipod nano. I think it a steal for the price! It is a bit on the tiny side, no fat fingers here. The joystick is best manipulated with a finger nail.
I also like that it can sync MS Outlook files. You can't edit the info but atleast you can see your calander and contacts. Was this review helpful?
