| | Tech Reviews | | Creative Zen Stone Review By: Grahm Skee - Anything But iPod Published on: 5/10/2007 11:13 PM | | The Zen Stone is an extremely basic screenless 1GB MP3 player. Without a screen, Creative added some nice features that allow you to easily and blindly navigate your tunes. The Zen Stone works with all modern operating systems and doubles as a standard data flash drive, making loading music and other files as easy as it gets. If you need a simple music solution or something to accompany your other player, pick one up. You wont be disappointed.

 | Creative Zen Stone 1GB Review By: Martin James - techradar.com Reviews Published on: 6/7/2007 | | It has twice the capacity of the iPod shuffle and costs half as much. There really isn't much more to say. Looking at and holding the Zen Stone, it's pretty obvious
where its name comes from. It feels pleasantly like a pebble in the hand,
though it's considerably lighter (18.5g) and the idea generally isn't to skim
one across the water. ...read the full review |

5 of 5 Simplicity Sunday, December 30, 2007 A Customer from Atlanta, GA
Since it was designed to operate without any display, that means you can also operate it easily in total darkness. Perfect for listening while going to sleep. And no need to squint to see tiny displays.
Too many products suffer from "feature-creep" where there are so many rarely-used features that it clutters the basic operation.
I love the simple Drag-N-Drop USB interface. No special software required. Was this review helpful?

No need to forgo food for an iPod. This was not an impulse buy. My geek obsessed research led me to the Zen Stone.
Pros:
Best quality among its peers, price puts the ipod to shame, accessories, downloading music is super quick as long as you're not listening to the cd simultaneously, great bass and stereo sound.
Minor Cons:
The earphones are slightly uncomfortable and kept falling out, bought a new pair and the sound quality improved 100%.
I recently purchased the TravelSound for the beach, love it. I'll be back for an upgrade to the Zen 8GB soon. Willing to skip lunch for a few weeks. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 much more than you pay for Monday, July 02, 2007 Peter from Los Alamos, NM
Just incredible. I bought it for my 12 year old who managed to lose Creative Zen Plus. The stone is small and simple but does the job perfectly. Cannot comment on the battery life, because he didn't drain it yet. If I knew they were comming up with a Plus version, I would definitely wait for it.
I just cannot understand people who are so much into apple products; why pay hyped prices? Creative have done music very well for many decades. Keep up good job! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Well worth the price Friday, June 22, 2007 A Customer from TX
Its a great player with real ease of use and true drag and drop capability. No fancy software needed. Sound quality is excellent and the headphones that come with it are of good quality. It is surpriseingly small and I think well worth the price. Was this review helpful?
3 of 5 Close Tuesday, June 19, 2007 Rob prindle from Erie, PA
The Stone is close to being a very good MP3 player, but lacks the clip (that is so useful on the iPod Shuffle) and a decent pair of ear buds. As delivered, the Stone has no clip and no strap and so if you don't have a pocket, there is no way to run or work out with it - however it does fit in the inseam pocket common in running shorts. And the ear buds are uncomfortable, don't stay in during extended workouts and the sound they produce is low quality. So, the Stone is inexpensive, but when you add a case with a clip and a good set of head phones, it becomes much less of a bargain. Was this review helpful?

The Zen MP3 player works very good and I'm extremely pleased with the performance and ease of use. I was disappointed that it didn't come with a connector to connect the MP3 player to my car audio system, but I guess that is the price you pay for getting a quality product so inexpensively. I only wish I had a 2 GB Zen now. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 More than I paid for! Friday, June 15, 2007 A Customer from New Orleans
Awesome value, super performance in such a small package.
Earpiece speakers perform well also. Can't go wrong for this price. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Creative Zenstone is a great little player Thursday, June 14, 2007 kblackbn@austin.rr.com from Austin, Texas
I chose the Creative Zenstone for its storage capacity, ease of operation, small size, and low price. I have easily loaded music from CD's, podcasts, audio books from Audible.com, and protected Windows Media files onto this player. Charging the battery by connecting the Zenstone to my computer is another of its convenient features. I'm really pleased with my Creative Zenstone. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pretty Cool Wednesday, June 06, 2007 Joe from New York, NY
PROS: 1)Drag & Drop is clutch, no additional software needed. 2)The 'Jump to next folder' button is revolutionary 3)if your headphone wire is long enough, make a slipknot and use as a lanyard. CONS:
1)Short warranty 2)Had trouble restarting my pc when zen stone was connected. COMMENTS: got this to tie me over while my main mp3 player is in the shop. Works fine for now, but in my experience, the cheap Creative players don't last very long, so just know before you buy this, it's a disposable. Was this review helpful?
